Devin Neal Fantasy Stats

The Minnesota Vikings are signing running back Devin Neal, per Jordan Schultz of The Schultz Report. Neal appeared in 10 games (three starts) for the New Orleans Saints in 2025, recording 206 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 57 carries and hauling in 17 catches for 104 yards on 19 targets. With running back Jordan Mason (thumb) currently on Injured Reserve, Minnesota has been looking to flesh out its running back depth behind veteran back Aaron Jones Sr. Neal now joins DeeJay Dallas and Demond Claiborne as potential rotational backs for the Vikings. As long as Jones Sr. remains healthy, he will likely handle the majority of Minnesota's backfield work for as long as Mason is sidelined. Still, Neal could be worth a speculative add in deep fantasy leagues as a potential handcuff running back option.

The New Orleans Saints waived running back Devin Neal (hamstring) on Thursday after they initially placed him on Injured Reserve for the start of the 2026 season, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. Now that the 23-year-old has been waived, he will not be forced to miss the entire season if he latches on with another team. Neal suffered a hamstring injury in the team's preseason game on Aug. 22 against the Los Angeles Rams and will not be ready for the start of the season next week. The former sixth-rounder by the Saints in 2025 out of Kansas saw 57 rushing attempts for 206 yards (3.6 yards per carry) and two rushing touchdowns in 10 games played, adding 17 receptions on 19 targets for 104 yards as a receiver. New Orleans had some opportunity in the RB room behind newcomer Travis Etienne Jr., with veteran Alvin Kamara (knee) also banged up, but Neal was unable to take advantage and will now look for another opportunity in 2026. He is well off the fantasy football radar in all formats right now.

The New Orleans Saints have placed running back Devin Neal (hamstring) on season-ending injured reserve, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. He suffered the injury during Week 2 of the preseason. Neal had an impressive stretch of games from Week 12 through Week 15 during his rookie season in 2025, but there wouldn't have been much of a role for him this year, even if he were healthy. Travis Etienne Jr. was given a large contract to lead this backfield for the next few years, and the Saints have Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller, and Audric Estime to round out the running back room. Neal's next chance to make an impact will be the 2027 season, which lines up well with the expiration of Alvin Kamara's contract.

New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal (hamstring) recently saw a slight bump in his fantasy value after fellow running back Alvin Kamara suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys early last week. However, Neal is battling his own hamstring injury, which he aggravated in the first quarter of yesterday's preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams. The 23-year-old has been dealing with a hamstring issue over the last two weeks, despite returning to practice last week. With Kamara sidelined, Neal has a chance to compete with Kendre Miller (back) for the No. 2 running back spot behind Travis Etienne Jr. for the rest of training camp and preseason. However, it would take an injury to Etienne and Kamara for Neal to have fantasy value during the regular season, and he should remain off fantasy radars during drafts.

New Orleans Saints running backs Devin Neal (hamstring) and Kendre Miller (back) both returned to training camp practice on Tuesday, per Todd Graffagnini of the team's official website. It is good news for a Saints backfield that is already very beat up, with Alvin Kamara (knee) and Audric Estime (ankle) also banged up right now. If Kamara is not ready for Week 1 of the regular season, which is a very real possibility, Neal and Miller could end up competing for the No. 2 job behind starter Travis Etienne Jr. in the rest of camp and the preseason. Miller, a former third-rounder in 2023 from TCU, has only appeared in 21 games in his first three NFL seasons, averaging 3.9 yards per carry with 497 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Neal, a sixth-rounder in 2025 from Kansas, carried the ball 57 times in his rookie campaign for 206 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games (three starts). If Kamara is out to begin the season, Etienne's workload will likely increase more than anything.

LouisianaSports.net's Ross Jackson reported that New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal (hamstring) was not seen at practice on Saturday. Neal is still recovering from a hamstring injury that he sustained during practice on Thursday. The 23-year-old is hoping to return to the field in time to play in the Saints' preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Neal will need to have a strong preseason to earn an offensive role in the Saints' backfield. The team signed Travis Etienne Jr. to a four-year, $52 million contract in free agency, and recently signed Alvin Kamara to a restructured one-year contract to keep him with the team. Neal will have to see an injury to one of the backs ahead of him on the depth chart to be fantasy relevant in 2026.

A sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal found himself starting games late in the year for an injury-stricken Saints squad before he himself was put on injured reserve with a season-ending hamstring injury. Early in the offseason, there remained some hope that he could return to a fantasy-relevant role in his second season, but those hopes have since been all but dashed. The Saints spent big in free agency to acquire former first-round pick Travis Etienne Jr., and with veteran Alvin Kamara agreeing to a restructured deal to stick in New Orleans for at least one more season, few opportunities could remain for Neal, who will still need to beat out Kendre Miller and Audric Estime for the team's third running back spot. Ranked outside of RotoBaller's top 300 players, Neal is not a player who should factor into 2026 redraft plans, and outside of the deepest dynasty leagues, he is no longer a player who must be held through roster cuts.

A sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, New Orleans Saints running back Devin Neal recorded 310 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns on 74 touches across 10 games (three starts) as a rookie. Neal spent some time as the Saints' back down the stretch of the season, thanks to injuries to the running backs who opened the season ahead of him on the depth chart. However, Neal's role in New Orleans is back in question entering 2026 following the team's offseason signing of running back Travis Etienne Jr. Saints veteran back Alvin Kamara also currently remains with the team, which likely leaves Neal battling for the team's RB3 role with Kendre Miller (knee). Given the crowded running back room in New Orleans and his limited upside as a former sixth-rounder, dynasty managers may want to consider moving on from Neal ahead of 2026.

At times in his 2025 rookie campaign, New Orleans running back Devin Neal was the top option on the team, though the fact that his two rushing touchdowns led all Saints running backs adds further context to the level of competition he was up against. New Orleans spent big to land Travis Etienne Jr. in free agency, and with veteran Alvin Kamara still currently on the roster after missing six games in 2025, Neal's path to a meaningful workload is sufficiently blocked heading into his second season. Still yet to turn 23, he is RotoBaller's dynasty RB70, and should the Saints find a way to move on from Kamara before the start of the season, Neal could see a brief value spike and a potential sell window. For the time being, though, he remains a dynasty hold with little standalone value but a chance to position himself as a top fantasy handcuff.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara appears to be on his way out in New Orleans after the free-agent signing of do-it-all back Travis Etienne Jr. If Kamara is cut or retires this offseason, Devin Neal would be in line for RB2 duties and an expanded role in 2026 in his second year in the NFL. After being taken in the sixth round (184th overall) out of Kansas last year, the 22-year-old appeared in only 10 games (three starts) due to a hamstring injury and finished with 57 rushing attempts for 206 yards (3.6 yards per carry) and two touchdowns while adding 17 receptions for 104 yards through the air. The 5-foot-11, 213-pounder doesn't have a ton of speed or athleticism, but what he lacks in those areas, he makes up for in size and power. Neal was used in a goal-line role down the stretch last year with Kamara sidelined with a knee injury, and he could be a nice complement to Etienne in his sophomore season. His fantasy ceiling isn't incredibly high, but Neal could develop into a valuable between-the-tackles grinder for the Saints in years to come. He's currently ranked as the No. 70 dynasty RB at RotoBaller.
