Jaylen Wright Loses Steam with Backfield at Full Health

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright slid back down the team's backfield hierarchy in Week 11's 16-13 win against the Washington Commanders, handling one tote for a gain of four yards. Wright picked up a decent amount of carries (five) in the game prior, with teammate Ollie Gordon II battling an ankle issue. However, he was back to third in the pecking order, with the latter injury-free, and, for the most part, has played a tertiary role in Miami's attack while dealing with injuries of his own in 2025. With Gordon II working as the primary change-of-pace option, and De'Von Achane dominating touches at the position, Wright can be left to waiver-wire fodder in redraft leagues for the time being.

Is Jaylen Wright the Dolphins' New Backup RB?

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright finally got some work in the team's backfield in Week 10 against the Bills, and he could again serve as De'Von Achane's backup in Week 11 against the Commanders in Madrid. Wright had a larger role since Ollie Gordon II was questionable with an injury and only played three snaps, but this week Gordon has no injury designation, even though he was limited in practice with an ankle injury. Wright took his five carries for 17 yards last week and now has 14 carries for 45 yards on the season. Achane is expected to take most of the work again this week, with Wright and Gordon possibly picking up a few carries as well. Wright doesn't bring much upside, though, even in this favorable matchup. He's only the RB 67 in RotoBaller's rankings, indicating that he's safe to leave on the waiver wire in almost all formats, even though it's worth watching whether he works ahead of Gordon again.

Can Jaylen Wright Finally Get Involved Against the Bills?

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright has hardly gotten any playing time this season, but with Ollie Gordon II (ankle) questionable for Week 10, it could be time for Wright to finally re-enter the rotation. Wright didn't have any carries or catches all season until Week 8, when he had nine carries for 28 yards and a reception for no receiving yards against the Falcons. Last Thursday in Week 9, he was back out of the rotation as a healthy inactive against the Ravens. Last year, the fourth-rounder had 249 yards on his 68 carries, but this year, he hasn't been able to crack the rotation. If Gordon is out or limited, he could get a few carries against Buffalo, but he's not much of a fantasy option at this point, since he's still just the RB78 in RotoBaller's Week 10 rankings.

Jaylen Wright To Be More Involved in Week 8?

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright started the season sidelined by a knee injury, but he has been available since Week 4. However, Wright still doesn't have a target, a carry, or even an offensive snap. He was a healthy scratch in Week 5 and Week 6, but in Week 7, he was active. He was still not involved in the offense; however, still playing behind De'Von Achane and Ollie Gordon II. Wright showed flashes of upside last year as a rookie, and his name has been floated in trade rumors this season. However, it's hard to get a real idea of how good he can be when he's so uninvolved. If the Dolphins give him some work this week against the Falcons, he could at least boost his trade value. Since he hasn't done anything all year, Wright is the No. 73 RB in RotoBaller's rankings. He is off the fantasy radar for now, but it's worth monitoring to see if he gets any work this week.

More Playing Time Coming for Jaylen Wright in Miami?

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright has "practiced well recently" and has "been great in meetings," according to running backs coach Eric Studesville. Wright was active for the Week 7 blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday after he was a healthy scratch the two weeks prior, but he still didn't see a carry while playing only nine offensive snaps. The 22-year-old speedster got a late start to the season due to an injury suffered at the end of training camp, and he has so far been relegated to RB3 on the team's depth chart behind workhorse De'Von Achane and rookie Ollie Gordon II. The 1-6 Dolphins could be transitioning to more of a run-heavy approach going forward, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa struggling mightily as a passer without receiver Tyreek Hill (knee). The Dolphins may look to involve Gordon and Wright more alongside Achane in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. Still, Wright isn't rosterable in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.

Jaylen Wright a Healthy Inactive Again

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright is a healthy scratch for the second straight week on Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers at Hard Rock Stadium. Wright got off on the wrong foot in 2025 due to an injury and just hasn't been able to establish himself in Miami's backfield behind starter De'Von Achane. Although rookie Ollie Gordon II hasn't had much of a role behind Achane through five weeks, he has been the preferred chance-of-pace option over Wright, even though Wright is now healthy. The 22-year-old Wright has not played in a game yet in 2025 after carrying the ball 68 times for 249 yards in 15 games (one start) in his rookie campaign in 2024. He also caught three passes for eight yards. Fantasy managers can continue to leave Wright on the waiver wire in redraft leagues.

Jaylen Wright a Healthy Scratch for Week 5 Against Carolina

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 5 contest against the Carolina Panthers. Wright remains the odd man out of Miami's backfield rotation as he hasn't registered a rushing attempt so far this season. He remains off the fantasy radar pending an injury to one of Miami's other running backs. Going forward, De'Von Achane will remain Miami's No. 1 running back while Ollie Gordon II backs him up.

Jaylen Wright Remains a Wrong Answer

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright has yet to get involved for his team this season, even though he has flashed upside in limited opportunities in the past. His name has been swirling in trade rumors since he has yet to play a snap for the Dolphins, even though he has been healthy for their last two games after missing the first two games of the year with a knee injury. Wright had 249 yards on 68 carries as a rookie and had a few big plays. Wright could be an interesting addition for a team that needs another option in the mix in the backfield, but for now, he's not usable in fantasy since he is not in Miami's backfield mix and is only the RB75 in RotoBaller's Week 5 rankings.

Jaylen Wright Still in Search of Opportunities

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright was active last Thursday after missing the first two weeks of the season with a knee injury, but he didn't play a single snap on offense or special teams. Ollie Gordon II had a solid game as the complement to De'Von Achane, taking nine carries for 38 yards and a touchdown. Achane also continues to be a PPR beast as a receiver out of the backfield, not leaving any room for Wright to get any chances yet. Coach Mike McDaniel said he wants to incorporate Wright into the game plan, but trade rumors have also been swirling this week since Wright showed some potential as a rookie last year after he was a fourth-round pick from Tennessee. He's only the RB81 in RotoBaller's Week 4 rankings, so he shouldn't be started in any format until he has a role, but it is worth watching to see if he can get involved this Monday night in a favorable matchup against the Jets.

Jaylen Wright Falling to Third on RB Depth Chart?

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II's success puts "competitive pressure" on Jaylen Wright, who was active for the first time in 2025 in Thursday night's loss to the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. The head coach said he still believes in Wright and plans on incorporating him in the offense, but with Gordon, "they can punch and hit the opponent." Wright missed the first two weeks of the year with a knee injury, which didn't help his cause. The 22-year-old was active on Thursday night against Buffalo, but he didn't handle any snaps on offense or special teams. Meanwhile, Gordon had nine carries (three fewer than De'Von Achane) for 38 yards and a touchdown. Wright should be more involved now that he's healthy, but Gordon gives Miami a dynamic they haven't had at the position in years, which doesn't bode well for Wright.
