Chris Bell's Dynasty Stock Rising Following NFL Draft

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chris Bell (knee) had his final collegiate season at the University of Louisville cut short after tearing his ACL in late November. Despite the injury, Miami selected Bell in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he has a chance to be ready for the start of his rookie season. The 21-year-old was having an excellent year at Louisville before getting injured, hauling in 72 receptions for 917 yards and six touchdowns across 11 games. Once he's healthy, Bell should have a chance to play a big role in the Miami passing game right away. The Dolphins' wide receiver corps is currently led by the uninspiring veteran trio of Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and Malik Washington, with 2026 third-rounder Caleb Douglas and fifth-rounder Kevin Coleman Jr. in the mix as well. While Bell's injury situation adds some uncertainty to his profile, he has a golden opportunity to establish himself as a key part of Miami's future. RotoBaller currently ranks Bell as its 57th-best wide receiver in dynasty formats.

Dolphins Take Another Receiver in Chris Bell at 94th Overall

The Miami Dolphins selected Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell (knee) with the 94th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL draft on Friday night. All four of Bell's collegiate seasons came at Louisville, and he had a total of 2,166 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 151 catches in his four seasons. Despite tearing his ACL in 2025, Bell finished the year with 72 receptions for 917 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games played. At 6-foot-2, 222 pounds, he will give new quarterback Malik Willis a big target down the field and in the red zone whenever he's ready to resume playing. He will join rookie Caleb Douglas in the passing attack for a Dolphins team that really needed to add to their receiver room in this year's draft after cutting Tyreek Hill (knee) and trading Jaylen Waddle to the Broncos. Bell and Douglas will join Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell. The rookie wideouts will have plenty of opportunity, but Bell's short-term fantasy value is clouded by the fact that he could be rehabbing his knee into the start of the regular season this fall. Because of his size, Bell has often been compared to A.J. Brown.

Chris Bell is Ahead of Schedule in ACL Rehab

Louisville wide receiver prospect Chris Bell (knee) is working his way back from an ACL tear that he suffered in November 2025. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Bell's agent and doctor told him that the NFL Draft prospect "is running 18+ MPH and ahead of schedule in rehab." This would seem to suggest that Bell might be ready for Week 1 of his rookie season in 2026. The ACL tear certainly impacted Bell's draft stock, but Rapoport said that he expects the 21-year-old to be a Day 2 pick (second or third round). Aggregate mock draft data from NFLMockDraftDatabase.com seems to agree, ranking Bell as the #55 prospect in this week's draft. He was a multi-season contributor at school, amassing 144 catches, 2,061 yards, and 12 touchdowns over the last three years (38 games). He's the #17 prospect and #9 wide receiver in RotoBaller's latest fantasy football rookie rankings.

Chris Bell a High-Risk/High-Reward Gamble

Louisville wide receiver prospect Chris Bell will be one of the riskiest selections in the NFL Draft and dynasty rookie drafts alike. For much of his senior season, early draft analysis had him ranked right alongside what has now become the Big Three of receiver prospects in Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and Jordyn Tyson as a potential first-round pick. An ACL tear in his final game of the season all but shattered that possibility, and he now profiles as more of a mid-to-late Day 2 pick who may require what amounts to a redshirt season as a rookie. While Bell's production doesn't stack up to the receivers at the top of the class, his pre-injury athletic profile was what made him stand out. At 6'2" and 222 pounds, he hit an in-game speed of 22 MPH, allowing him to win after the catch with both physicality and acceleration. How the injury will impact him in the all-important early stages of his professional career is yet to be seen, but if he can return to anything resembling his senior year form without falling too far behind the NFL pace, he could become a steal for whoever is willing to make the gamble.

Can Chris Bell Make an Immediate Impact in the NFL?

University of Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell (knee) is currently recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in late November. However, the 21-year-old is reportedly on track in his recovery and is expected to be ready for his first NFL training camp this summer. Across 11 games in his final season at Louisville, Bell recorded 72 receptions for 917 yards and six touchdowns. Despite the injury, Bell is expected to come off the board in either the late second or early third round of the upcoming NFL Draft. He's known as a big-bodied possession receiver who relies more on size and speed than lateral quickness, so he may have an easier time returning from a torn ACL than other wideouts. Still, expectations for Bell's impact as a rookie should likely be tempered. In dynasty formats, Bell's injury could provide a buy-low window for fantasy managers.

Chris Bell Should be Ready for Training Camp

Louisville wide receiver Chris Bell (knee) said last Friday that he is on track in his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered on Nov. 22 of last year, and he should be able to take part in training camp this summer, according to Jeff Legwold of ESPN. Bell went through medical evaluations at last week's NFL scouting combine but didn't take part in any workouts and is not expected to have a pro-day workout before April's NFL draft. He said he's been cleared by Dallas Cowboys team physician Dr. Dan Cooper, who performed Bell's surgery. Mel Kiper Jr.'s No. 11 WR in this year's draft class will begin running this week. Despite coming off a torn ACL, the 6-foot-2, 222-pounder could come off the board in the second round of this year's NFL draft because of his size and speed combination. Bell tallied 72 taches for 917 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 in his final season at Louisville.
