De'Von Achane Limited in OTAs Due to Recovery From Shoulder Injury

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said that running back De'Von Achane (shoulder) will be held out of full team drills in OTAs as he recovers from a shoulder injury, per C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald. Achane missed the final game of the 2025 season due to a shoulder injury that Hafley said "had to get cleaned up" over the offseason. While it does not seem as though Achane is in danger of missing time in 2026, it's still noteworthy that the 24-year-old appears to have undergone shoulder surgery since the end of the 2025 campaign. Achane was one of the best running backs in fantasy football last year, recording 1,838 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns on 305 touches across 16 games. He remains a high-end fantasy RB1 heading into 2026, but managers should monitor news on his recovery over the course of the summer months.

De'Von Achane Dealing With Injury at OTAs?

The Miami Dolphins signed running back Carlos Washington Jr. this week after RB De'Von Achane (undisclosed) missed at least one OTA practice session with an unknown injury, according to C. Isaiah Smalls II of The Miami Herald. It's unclear how serious Achane's injury is at this time, but with over a month until training camp begins in late July, the Dolphins could just be exercising extreme caution with their best offensive player. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Achane's status during the offseason program. The 24-year-old was rewarded with a four-year, $68 million contract extension earlier this month after breaking out with 1,350 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 238 carries in 16 starts in 2025 in his third season in the NFL. Achane also added 67 catches for 488 yards and four touchdowns as a pass-catcher and led the NFL with 5.7 yards per carry. Efficiency in the Dolphins' rebuilding offense could remain an issue for Achane's fantasy football ceiling, but he should continue to make up for it with sheer volume. Consider him a top-10 fantasy RB going into his fourth NFL campaign, as long as he's healthy.

De'Von Achane Present for Start of OTAs This Week

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said that running back De'Von Achane, who is fresh off signing a four-year, $68 million contract extension last week, is present and will be out at Tuesday's OTA session, according to David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Hafley said that the feeling around the team is one of excitement and happiness for Achane after his big extension. The 24-year-old was a first-time Pro Bowler in 2025 in what was a breakout season in his third year in the NFL. Achane had 238 rushing attempts for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, adding 67 receptions for 488 yards and four more TDs as a pass-catcher on 85 targets in 16 starts. He led the league with a 5.7-yard-per-carry mark and was really the only consistent offensive weapon for the Dolphins last year in another disappointing season for the organization. The former third-rounder out of Texas A&M will stay in South Beach as the Dolphins build around him on offense, starting with quarterback Malik Willis. Volume shouldn't be a problem for Achane again in 2026, but efficiency could be, as the only elite offensive weapon on offense in Miami. Achane is ranked as RotoBaller's No. 7 fantasy RB for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

De'Von Achane a Dynasty Cornerstone

With Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane agreeing to a four-year, $68 million extension on Wednesday, the team backed up early offseason claims that they were looking to build an offense around the 24-year-old former third-round pick, and they locked up one of fantasy's most exciting players through the 2030 season. With Miami bringing in a new coaching staff and front office for 2026, the Dolphins completely overhauled a roster that finished 7-10 in 2025, but made it clear that Achane would remain the focal point of any new-look offense. With a quarterback in Malik Willis who has never attempted more than 61 passes in a season and a receiving core largely built through this most recent draft, there will likely be some bumps along the way, but Achane will never stray far from front and center, and he has already proven he can excel for fantasy in a below-average offense. At RotoBaller's dynasty RB5, he is lumped into a second tier of running backs that he could rightfully claim to be at the top of. Achane is the only running back in the league to score double-digit fantasy points in every game in 2025 and joins only Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs as players to finish as the RB6 or better in each of the past two seasons. While the new contract may make buying opportunities tougher, he is still worth pursuing if his current manager believes his value will be impacted by the Dolphins' offensive landscape.

Dolphins, De'Von Achane Agree to Four-Year Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins and Pro Bowl running back De'Von Achane agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract extension on Wednesday to make him the third-highest-paid RB (behind Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey) at $17 million per year with $32 million guaranteed, multiple sources told Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports. New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley stood by their word this offseason that they weren't looking to trade Achane after cutting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and receiver Tyreek Hill (knee) and trading receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. The 24-year-old former third-rounder in 2023 out of Texas A&M gets paid after a breakout 2025 campaign, in which he had a career-best 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 238 carries while adding 67 catches for 488 yards and another four TDs on 85 targets across 16 starts. Despite Miami's lackluster offense, Achane finished as the RB6 in half-PPR scoring last year. The Dolphins' offense could be very inconsistent yet again in Year 1 of their rebuild, but Achane should be a first-round pick in redraft formats for the volume alone, and he's currently RotoBaller's fifth-ranked RB in dynasty leagues.

De'Von Achane Remains a High-End Dynasty RB Despite Uncertain Supporting Cast

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane put together an excellent season in 2025, recording 1,838 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns on 305 touches across 16 games. While the 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best running backs in fantasy football, there are some notable changes around him in Miami going into 2026. Bobby Slowik will take over for Mike McDaniel as the Dolphins' play-caller, and Malik Willis is replacing Tua Tagovailoa as the team's starting quarterback. Achane is also currently in somewhat of a contract standoff with the organization as he enters the final year of his rookie contract and seeks a monster extension. Still, despite the relative uncertainty around him, Achane profiles as the most talented player on the Miami offense by far. With the Dolphins having traded away star wideout Jaylen Waddle over the offseason, Achane could even surpass the 85 targets he saw as a receiver in 2025. In dynasty formats, Achane remains a high-end RB1.

De'Von Achane Spotted at Dolphins Training Facilities

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane was not present for the start of the team's voluntary offseason workout program last week, but he was seen at the training facility on Thursday, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN. It's believed that Achane showed up "as a sign of good faith" as he and the organization continue to talk about a contract extension. The Dolphins continue to say that Achane is off limits for a trade this offseason, even though they already released receiver Tyreek Hill (knee) and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and traded receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. The 24-year-old Pro Bowler wants the team to prove that they value him as one of the pillars of their rebuild, and all signs point to something eventually being worked out to keep the Texas A&M product in South Beach for years to come. Achane was a top-10 fantasy RB in 2025 with his first 1,000-yard rushing season and eight rushing touchdowns in 16 games. He added 67 catches for 488 yards and four more touchdowns. There will be volatility with Achane in fantasy in 2026 in an offense that could be very inconsistent again, but the high-end volume that he's expected to see will give him a high floor as an RB1.

De'Von Achane "Not Available for Trade"

Miami Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan said that running back De'Von Achane is "not available for trade" and that contract talks with the Pro Bowler are progressing this offseason, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN. The Dolphins released receiver Tyreek Hill (knee) and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa while also trading away receiver Jaylen Waddle, so many were wondering if they'd also pull the trigger on dealing Achane as part of a full rebuild. The Dolphins continue to say that they want to build around Achane and new quarterback Malik Willis in the upcoming NFL draft, so Achane apparently isn't going anywhere. The 24-year-old former third-rounder in 2023 out of Texas A&M was the RB6 in half-PPR fantasy scoring last year, and he's now the clear centerpiece of Miami's offense. As one of the most explosive dual-threat RBs in the NFL, Achane should still have a pretty strong floor as an RB1 in 2026, even if the Dolphins' offense continues to be inefficient and inconsistent.

Dolphins, De'Von Achane Not Close to Contract Extension

The Miami Dolphins and running back De'Von Achane are not close to agreeing on a contract extension, according to Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald. The Dolphins have been adamant this offseason that they don't want to trade Achane, with general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan referring to Achane as one of the team's "three pillars." Miami released receiver Tyreek Hill (knee) and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and then traded receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos, leaving Achane as the only real explosive playmaker on offense. Achane skipped the team's voluntary offseason workouts in early April, and Sullivan has also said that "nobody is untouchable in this business." The 24-year-old is expected to be looking to beat the four-year, $48 million extension that RB James Cook got from the Buffalo Bills in August of 2025. Achane was the RB6 in half-PPR scoring last year with 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, adding 67 catches for 488 yards and four receiving touchdowns in 16 games. He is a true three-down workhorse, which is rare in the NFL these days. The explosive upside is obvious in both phases of the game, but in what could be an inconsistent offense again in Miami in 2026, Achane might have to rely on volume over anything else as an RB1 in fantasy.

De'Von Achane Not Present for Start of Voluntary Workouts

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley said that running back De'Von Achane did not report to the first day of voluntary offseason workouts on Tuesday, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team. "It's part of the business," Hafley said. Achane signed a four-year, $5.44 million contract with the team in May of 2023 after he was drafted in the third round that year out of Texas A&M. The 24-year-old was one of the few bright spots for the Dolphins on offense in 2025, and he finished as the RB6 in half-PPR scoring with 1,350 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 16 games while adding 67 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver. Achane is an explosive dual-threat back who has had at least six rushing TDs in each of his first three years in the league. The Dolphins have been adamant that he's part of their future and won't be traded. Achane has a high floor as an RB1 in fantasy, but his value will be volume-based in an offense that will likely struggle for efficiency with both receivers Tyreek Hill (knee) and Jaylen Waddle gone.
