Ollie Gordon II's Dynasty Value Rising Amidst Organizational Changes in Miami?

A seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II entered his rookie year as the primary backup to star Dolphins rusher De'Von Achane. Gordon II saw limited playing time over the course of the season, racking up 231 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns on 77 touches. He also ceded some opportunities down the stretch of the season to Miami back Jaylen Wright, who out-snapped Gordon II in three of the team's final six games. The Dolphins have made major organizational changes so far this offseason, replacing head coach Mike McDaniel, trading wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and releasing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. While the changes have led to speculation around a possible trade of Achane, Dolphins officials have been adamant in their stance that the team is looking to build around the young running back. As long as Achane is in Miami, Gordon II's dynasty upside is limited. However, he could be worth prioritizing as a priority handcuff option just in case the Dolphins do end up making additional moves.

Ollie Gordon II May Be Buried on Dolphins Running Back Depth Chart

Across 17 games as a rookie in 2025, Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II recorded 70 carries for 199 yards and three touchdowns. While Gordon II flashed upside at different points throughout the season, he was ultimately blocked off from playing time by superstar Dolphins back De'Von Achane. Gordon II also lost some playing time down the stretch to Miami running back Jaylen Wright, who finished the year with the same number of carries (70) as Gordon II. The Dolphins will have a new coaching staff in place for the 2026 season, which brings some uncertainty to the backfield playing time situation. Still, barring a trade, Gordon II will undoubtedly be stuck behind Achane and may ultimately end up third on his team's running back depth chart. Gordon II retains some dynasty value after 2025, but it's difficult to project a year two breakout without a drastic change to the situation around him in Miami.

What Could a Year 2 Breakout Look Like for Ollie Gordon II?

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II saw his name linked to fantasy waiver wires throughout the year, but he ultimately spent most of his rookie season playing second, or even third fiddle, to De'Von Achane. With a new head coach and offensive coordinator set to take over in Miami, many have speculated whether the sub-190-pound Achane will continue to handle bell-cow duties. Unfortunately for Gordon, even if Jeff Hafley and Bobby Slowik choose to preserve Achane by moving to a more committee-based approach, 23-year-old Jaylen Wright could stand in his way. After missing the first six weeks of the season as a result of injury and performance, Wright took over as the team's primary change-of-pace back behind Achane, out-touching Gordon 75 to 50. And when given work, Gordon's 2.8 yards per carry ranked among the league's worst. With Gordon's Doak Walker Award-winning season in 2023 now feeling a lifetime away, there were very few signs in 2025 that a sophomore breakout could be on its way.

Ollie Gordon II Not Getting Much Work in Miami

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has flashed touchdown-dependent upside in his rookie season, but he's battled an ankle injury and fallen down the depth chart in the last few weeks, playing behind Jaylen Wright. Gordon only played three snaps last week against the Bengals, compared to 18 for Wright. He also lost a yard on his only carry. The sixth-round pick has four touchdowns on the season, but in his limited role, he's not a great option to start in Week 17, when his Dolphins host the Buccaneers. In RotoBaller's rankings, Gordon is only the No. 66 RB, making him an option best left on the bench or waiver wire in almost all formats.

Ollie Gordon II Will be Available Against the Bengals

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II had to leave with an ankle injury midway through the second quarter of Monday's loss to the Steelers, but he was able to participate fully in practice this week and avoid an injury tag for Sunday's game against the Bengals. Gordon was injured on his second carry of the game and finished with zero yards. On the season, the rookie has 60 carries for 191 rushing yards, and he has scored four touchdowns, with his most recent score in Week 14 against the Jets. He and Jaylen Wright will split work behind De'Von Achane, who is healthy and should go off against the Bengals. Gordon will likely get a few carries, but he's only the RB No. 65 in RotoBaller's Week 16 rankings, meaning he can be left on the bench or waiver wire in most formats.

Ollie Gordon II Questionable to Return With Ankle Injury

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II (ankle) is considered questionable to return to Monday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The rookie back suffered an ankle injury during the second quarter of this contest when he was tackled for a loss in the backfield and got his leg caught awkwardly underneath him. He limped off the field with the help of the training staff. Before exiting, Gordon had rushed the ball twice for no gain. His absence should mean an expanded role for backup Jaylen Wright. Lead back De'Von Achane figures to see a slightly larger role in the backfield as well.

Ollie Gordon II Could Find Work Hard to Come by in Week 15

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II got into the end zone for his third touchdown of the season last week against the Jets, but this week, the Dolphins' backfield will be crowded, which could leave the rookie without much work. De'Von Achane (ribs) is expected to play despite an injury to his ribs suffered last week, and Jaylen Wright stepped in and went off in his place against New York. Gordon did have five carries for 17 yards with his touchdown, but only played 16 snaps, compared to Wright's 34. The two will share backup duties behind Achane, who has been sensational while carrying the load in Miami's backfield. Even while sharing backup duties with Wright, Gordon will have some touchdown-dependent upside, but his workload is too uncertain to make him a reliable play in Week 15 against the Steelers, leaving him as the RB59 in RotoBaller's rankings, well off the starting radar in all but the deepest of leagues.

Ollie Gordon II Finds the End Zone in Week 14

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II scored his third rushing touchdown of the season on Sunday in his team's 34-10 win over the Jets. The rookie punched home a seven-yard rush in the fourth quarter and finished with five carries for 17 yards on the day. With De'Von Achane (rib) leaving the game early, it was Jaylen Wright who went off for the Dolphins, but Gordon did stay involved as a change-of-pace back. If Achane misses time, Gordon and Wright would both be worth a look in the Dolphins' offense that relies heavily on its running backs to make plays. However, it looks like Wright would probably be the primary back in that scenario. If Achane returns next week, Gordon and Wright would return to their typical minimal roles.

Ollie Gordon II Playing Very Limited Role

Miami Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has been relegated to a minimal role recently, as the team gives more work to De'Von Achane. Gordon has gotten three carries or fewer in three of his last four games, and he only got 10 yards on his three carries against the Saints last week. He played 27% of snaps while Jaylen Wright played 10% of snaps and also had three carries, finishing with 16 yards. The rookie has shown a few glimpses of upside and scored a couple of touchdowns, but his role is so limited behind Achane that he is only a desperation play this week against the Jets. The Jets have been a great matchup for running backs this season, and especially recently, but it's uncertain if Gordon will get much work in Week 14. He's only the No. 48 RB in RotoBaller's rankings this week, so he can be left on the bench or waiver wire in most formats.

Ollie Gordon II in Danger of Losing RB2 Role in Miami?

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II has pretty much worked as the backup in Miami all year behind workhorse De'Von Achane, totaling 53 carries for 174 yards (3.3 yards per carry) and two touchdowns in 12 games in his first year in the NFL. Gordon has added six catches on eight targets for 30 yards and another TD. The 21-year-old 6-foot-2, 225-pound back had as many carries (three) as Jaylen Wright in Sunday's win over the New Orleans Saints, though, gaining just 10 yards. He was not targeted in the passing attack for the third game in a row. Achane continues to see the lion's share of the backfield touches, as he had 22 rushing attempts for 134 yards and a touchdown. Gordon gives Miami's offense a unique mix of size and speed at the RB position, but he just has not seen enough volume to be worth rostering in 12-team redraft fantasy football leagues. He's rostered in just 9% of Yahoo leagues.
