Kenneth Grant Impressing With his Work Ethic

ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques writes that Miami Dolphins rookie first-round defensive tackle Kenneth Grant has impressed during offseason workouts with his work ethic and mentality away from the football field. Head coach Mike McDaniel said that Grant "works endlessly" at the stuff he's asked to do. "You're hitting a home run with the team when a first-round draft pick comes in with that mindset, so we can work with that and veterans know you can count on that," McDaniel said. "There's been ebbs and flows like for every rookie, but what I've seen from him, I've seen production where he wins based on technique and fundamentals early in the snap, and I've seen late-down wins where he's straining and utilizing grit and finish to make plays." The 21-year-old is a hulking figure at 6-foot-3, 331 pounds and should quickly settle in as a full-time starter on the interior to help replace Christian Wilkins.

Kenneth Grant Signs Four-Year Rookie Deal With Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins and first-round defensive tackle Kenneth Grant agreed to a four-year rookie deal on Friday, a source tells ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Dolphins decided to beef up the interior of their defensive line with the 13th overall pick in this year's NFL draft by taking Grant out of Michigan. The 21-year-old is big and powerful at 6-foot-4, 330 pounds, but he's also extremely athletic and can succeed while being double-teamed. Grant can help bolster Miami's rush defense while also being disruptive in the backfield because of his quickness and athleticism. In his final season with the Wolverines in 2024, Grant had 32 tackles, three sacks and seven tackles for loss. He will certainly help fill the void on the interior of Miami's D-line after Christian Wilkins left last season.

Dolphins Nab Michigan’s Kenneth Grant At No. 13

The Miami Dolphins opted for defense in the first round by taking Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant at No. 13 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Some NFL talent evaluators thought Grant was as good if not better than Mason Graham, who went fifth overall to Cleveland, and in the end, the pair went only eight picks apart. Grant was a devastating run defender who helped Michigan to the 2023 national title, and now figures to fill a void in Miami left behind by the departure of Christian Wilkins in 2024. The Michigan Man was projected much later in some mock drafts, so Miami will be betting big on its evaluation here.

Kenneth Grant Dealing With Hamstring Strain

University of Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant (hamstring) was found to have a hamstring strain during medical evaluations at the NFL Combine, which prevented him from taking part in on-field drills in Indianapolis on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Grant was pushing to work out anyway, but he will instead be a full-go at Michigan's Pro Day on March 21. The 21-year-old's hamstring injury obviously isn't anything serious, and the injury should be behind him for the start of the 2025 season this fall, but it could hurt his draft stock in April if he disappoints at his Pro Day in late March. As a junior with the Wolverines in 2024, Grant finished with 32 total tackles and three sacks. Grant is projected to be taken in the first round in April and was hoping to run a 40-yard dash in the 4.8-second range while putting up 30-plus repetitions on the bench press at the Combine.
