Chargers Lose Otito Ogbonnia, Christian Covington For The Year

Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said that defensive linemen Otito Ogbonnia (knee) and Christian Covington (pectoral) are both out for the season after suffering serious injuries in Sunday night's loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Ogbonnia suffered a patellar tendon rupture, while Covington tore his pectoral muscle. It's terrible news for the Chargers' defensive line depth the rest of the way. With both Ogbonnia and Covington done for the year, Sebastian Joseph-Day and Jeremiah Attaochu will see increased playing time to close out the season. But this is terrible news for a Chargers run defense that has been among the league's worst in 2022.
