Rashan Gary News
Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary (knee) suffered a torn right ACL in the Week 9 loss to the Detroit Lions, according to a source. He'll undergo an MRI exam to determine if there is additional damage, but Gary will now miss the rest of the season. Gary will finish the year with six sacks, 32 tackles (21 solo), seven tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in nine games played. The 24-year-old could be in danger of missing the start of next season as well, depending on how his rehab goes in the offseason. Gary's absence the rest of the way is a big blow to the middle of the Packers defense.
Green Bay Packers linebacker Rashan Gary (knee) was seen using crutches after the team's Week 9 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The 24-year-old was carted to the locker room in the second half and never returned to the contest. The fact that he was on crutches isn't a good sign for his availability in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys, but the Packers will likely have an update on him early in the week. Gary was able to produce two solo tackles and a QB hits in the game against Detroit before leaving. He entered the Week 9 contest with 29 tackles (19 solo), seven tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, six sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in eight games. An extended absence from Gary would be a big blow to the Packers defense.
Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Rashan Gary had as good a spring as anyone in an offseason in which the Packers did almost no full-speed 11-on-11 work. Gary looked lean and muscular and is coming off a career-best season in which he racked up 9.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits. He was one of the few starters that stuck around through the end of organized team activities, saying, "I'm just here trying to get better." Green Bay exercised Gary's fifth-year option back in April after the 24-year-old stepped into a bigger role in 2021 due to Za'Darius Smith's back injury that kept him out nearly all season. Along with his 9.5 sacks, Gary had 47 tackles (27 solo) and two forced fumbles in 16 games played. He'll once again be asked to take on a big role with Smith now in Minnesota.
