DaRon Bland, Trevon Diggs Both Active to Face Panthers

Dallas Cowboys cornerbacks DaRon Bland (shoulder) and Trevon Diggs (knee) are active for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Carolina Panthers. Both players had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity. Bland has been an impact defender in three games this season, totaling 15 tackles. Diggs has been slightly less involved on a per-game basis, but healthy for all five contests. Through the first five games of the year, he also has 15 tackles. Both cornerbacks are looking for their first interceptions of the year. They'll be tasked with slowing down a Panthers passing attack led by Bryce Young and Tetairoa McMillan on Sunday.

Cowboys Likely To Have DaRon Bland On Sunday

The Dallas Cowboys are likely to have cornerback DaRon Bland (shoulder) active when they take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Bland was limited in practice all week. The fourth-year corner missed a pair of games this season with a foot injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday, though it appears he will play. Rapoport also reported that Dallas is likely to have fellow corner Trevon Diggs (knee), giving the Cowboys another option to match against Carolina rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

DaRon Bland Could Miss Multiple Weeks

Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) could miss a couple of weeks with a right-foot injury that he suffered in practice on Monday, sources told Todd Archer of ESPN. Bland's foot injury is unrelated to the foot issue that limited him to only seven games played in 2024, when he dealt with a stress fracture in his left foot that required surgery. He did not practice on Wednesday as the team began preparations for Week 2 against the division-rival New York Giants. With Bland now injured and cornerback Trevon Diggs still working his way back from knee surgery back in January, Dallas' secondary depth is very thin early on. Diggs played only 27 defensive snaps in the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, although he said he could see more action this Sunday. On 63 defensive snaps in the season opener last Thursday, Bland recorded three tackles.

Cowboys, DaRon Bland Agree to Four-Year Extension

The Dallas Cowboys and standout cornerback DaRon Bland agreed to terms on a four-year, $92 million contract extension on Sunday that includes $50 million guaranteed, sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Cowboys were unable to keep All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons in town, but they have managed to lock up a key defender in Bland. The Cowboys selected Bland in the fifth round (167th overall) in 2022, and he's been a key member of their secondary in three seasons. Bland was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler in 2023, when he had a career-best 69 tackles (53 solo), a league-high nine interceptions (five returned for touchdowns) and 15 pass breakups in 17 games (15 starts). A stress fracture cost him the first 11 weeks of last season, though, and he ended up playing in just seven games. Dallas will need a healthy Bland in 2025 with Trevon Diggs and rookie Shavon Revel likely unavailable to start the year.

DaRon Bland Limited On Monday

Dallas Cowboys defensive back DaRon Bland (foot) was a limited participant during Monday's walkthrough practice. The All-Pro defensive back has been sidelined up until Sunday due to a stress fracture in his foot. However, Brand was able to make his season debut against the Washington Commanders. He played well as he recorded six tackles in the win. The expectation is that Bland was limited out of precaution and he should be ready to go against the New York Giants for their Thanksgiving matchup. The practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday will give a better indication on his status going forward.

DaRon Bland Missing Another Contest

The Dallas Cowboys have yet again deemed cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) inactive ahead of Monday night's road tilt against the Houston Texans. The team also ruled out defensive back Jourdan Lewis (neck) for the game. Bland has not logged even a limited practice session since Week 6 and hasn't appeared in a game this season while tending to a foot injury. On the other hand, Lewis is the Cowboys' second-leading snap participant in their defensive backfield. He will miss his first outing of 2024 after apparently picking up a neck injury in their 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10. Fortunately, teammate Trevon Diggs (calf) was a full participant all week and carries no designation for Dallas' matchup against the visiting Houston Texans.

DaRon Bland Out Against Eagles, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs Tagged As Questionable

The Dallas Cowboys plan on star defensive end Micah Parsons (ankle) returning to action this weekend, but defensive backs Trevon Diggs (calf) and DaRon Bland (foot) have been ruled questionable and out, respectively. Parsons has been out of the team's lineup since their Week 4 win over the New York Giants, and although he's questionable -- the team expects to have him. On the other hand, Diggs opened the week with back-to-back limited sessions but was downgraded to a non-participant on Friday, so it would appear he's on the wrong side of his designation -- trending toward not playing. Bland has yet to appear in a game this season and has not practiced since the team activated his window on Oct. 30 as he works his way back from a stress fracture in his foot. While Parsons may return, Dallas could be in danger of their defense being severely short-staffed.

DaRon Bland Activated Off Of Injured Reserve

The Dallas Cowboys are activating cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) off of the Injured Reserve list on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The 2023 first-team All-Pro and NFL interceptions leader (nine) suffered a foot injury in the preseason that required surgery, so he has not made his 2024 debut. However, Bland's status is still up in the air for Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons, but the team had to activate him now after opening his 21-day practice window on October 9. Whenever he returns to the lineup, it could provide a major boost to a defense that has surrendered the seventh-most yards per game this season (372.6).

DaRon Bland To Have Foot Surgery

Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland (foot) will undergo surgery and is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks. "DaRon Bland experienced foot discomfort on Wednesday of last week during training camp in Oxnard," the team disclosed in a statement. "Imaging revealed a stress fracture in his foot." The 25-year-old had a monster season in 2023-24, finishing with a league-leading nine interceptions, returning five for a touchdown. Without question, his absence is significant for the Cowboys' defense overall. Rookie Caelen Carson is anticipated to take over while Bland is out of commission.

DaRon Bland Extends Streak, Adds Fifth Pick-Six

Dallas Cowboys cornerback DaRon Bland added his seventh interception and fifth defensive touchdown in the Cowboys' 45-10 victory over the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving Day. Bland has made an interception in each of the past three games and taken the pick back to the house in each of the past two. In addition to the interception, Bland also made one pass breakup and ten tackles. The dominant performance was good for 32 points in RotoBaller IDP standard scoring. Bland is a set-em-and-forget-em IDP star when he faces the Seattle Seahawks next week.
