Von Miller News
The Buffalo Bills and pass-rusher Von Miller agreed to a renegotiated contract on Wednesday, according to a source. The new deal has a base value of $8.855 million in 2024, with the chance for Miller to make up to $20 million with incentives (up from $17.5 million under the old deal). The restructure saves the Bills $8.645 million in salary cap space this year. The 34-year-old eight-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl MVP suffered a season-ending knee injury in 2022 and got a late start in 2023 in his second year in Buffalo, ultimately playing in only 12 games while not recording a single sack for the first time in his 12-year NFL career. At this point, Miller is no longer on the IDP fantasy radar and has become a rotational pass-rusher in Buffalo.
Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller is a healthy scratch for Sunday's divisional contest against the New England Patriots. It's been a rough year for Miller in 2023 after missing the first four games of the year while recovering from a season-ending knee injury he suffered on Thanksgiving Day in 2022. He made his debut in the Week 5 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and just hasn't been very effective as a pass-rusher. The 34-year-old eight-time Pro Bowler hasn't recorded a single sack in 11 games in his second year in Buffalo and has only notched three tackles (two solo) and three QB hits. On top of his poor play, he popped up in the news for the wrong reasons during the team's bye week and was faced with a felony domestic-violence charge. At this stage of his career, he's become a rotational pass-rusher.
Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said that pass-rusher Von Miller is available to play in Week 14 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Miller isn't expected to be placed on the commissioner's exempt list after he was charged with felony domestic violence during the team's bye in Week 13. A suspension could be coming for the 34-year-old All-Pro eventually, but for now it looks like Miller will play this weekend in Kansas City. After blowing out his knee on Thanksgiving in 2022, Miller has been a shell of his former self and has become a rotational outside linebacker for Buffalo's defense. In eight games in his second year with the Bills, he has only two tackles (one solo) and no sacks.
