Samori Toure News
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Samori Toure caught just two of his three targets for 18 yards in the team's 38-20 win over the division-rival Chicago Bears on the road in Week 1 on Sunday. Toure finished the game fifth among the team's receivers in snaps played on Sunday, and all in all it was a disappointing first game of the 2023 regular season because of the fact that Christian Watson (hamstring) didn't even play for Green Bay. The 25-year-old still has room to grow this year and get more involved, but he's currently well off the fantasy radar in single-year leagues. A seventh-round pick in 2022, Toure finished his rookie campaign with just five receptions for 82 yards and one touchdown in 11 games (two starts).
Barring the addition of a veteran receiver, Green Bay Packers wide receivers Samori Toure and rookie Jayden Reed are expected to battle for the No. 3 job behind Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, beginning in organized team activities. Toure was only targeted 10 times in 2022, catching five of them for 82 yards and a touchdown. Toure will have an opportunity, but Reed was taken in the second round of the draft for a reason, with his speed, hands and route-running abilities standing out at Michigan State. The rookie is a candidate to fill the slot role after Randall Cobb's departure. Reed is undersized at 5-foot-11, 187 pounds, but his skills are intriguing for those looking to take a late flier in dynasty/keeper leagues.
Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Samori Toure was active for the first time in his career in the Week 7 loss to the Washington Commanders with rookie Christian Watson (hamstring) and Randall Cobb (ankle) out with injuries. Toure played 35 percent of the offensive snaps and was targeted just one time, catching it for a four-yard gain. He was well behind Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins rookie Romeo Doubs in snaps in the receiving corps and could go back to being a healthy scratch in the Sunday night tilt against the Buffalo Bills next weekend if Watson is able to return for that game. The 24-year-old should only be stashed in dynasty/keeper leagues at this time.
