Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Wanya Morris (knee) has been listed as questionable to return against the Denver Broncos with a knee injury on Sunday. The next left tackle on the depth chart is rookie Kingsley Suamataia, but the offensive line has been pretty suspect so far this week. Morris is an important piece to Patrick Mahomes' protection, so it could be tough sledding against a solid Broncos defense if he can't return.
The Kansas City Chiefs have benched rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamataia in favor of Wanya Morris for their Week 3 game on Sunday night against the Atlanta Falcons. Suamataia struggled in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson had his way with the rookie all day. The move may be welcome for fantasy managers. Morris may be able to allow quarterback Patrick Mahomes more time to operate on Sunday night. That will be important for Mahomes' fantasy stock and the various pass catchers in the Kansas City offense.
Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Wanya Morris has been named the starter ahead of the Week 3 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. This is noteworthy due to the fact the Chiefs have decided to bench second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia. The rookie tackle was pulled from last week's game after failing to contain pass rusher Trey Hendrickson, who recorded two sacks. It's unlikely that the Chiefs are giving up on the 21-year-old tackle, but have decided to make a change for at least this week. Morris is a second-year tackle and will be in charge of blocking the blindside of Patrick Mahomes on Sunday.
Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Wanya Morris (knee) was already bothered by a knee injury for a little while and he appears to have hurt the same knee in the team's preseason game on Thursday. Head coach Andy Reid said that the second-year tackle re-tweaked that same knee but he should be okay. They're going to let him rest to hopefully have him ready for the first game of the season. Morris appeared in 14 games during his rookie year and saw 37% of the team's offensive snaps. Currently, Morris is listed as the backup at left tackle behind rookie Kingsley Suamataia.
Kansas City Chiefs offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were both charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession on Friday in Johnson County, Kansas The two were arrested late Thursday night and taken into custody a short time later. Both players were posted on $2,500 bond and were released on Friday. Morris and Godrick are expected to make their next court appearance on May 23. They are both entering their second seasons in the NFL with the Chiefs. Morris was a third-round pick last year out of Oklahoma, while Godrick came to the team as part of the league's International Player Pathway program. It remains to be seen if both players will face discipline from the NFL for their off-the-field missteps. Morris is expected to compete for the starting left-tackle job this summer with Kingsley Suamataia.
