Leon Draisaitl Has Three Points in Tuesday's Loss

Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl once again did the business against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night but didn't get to celebrate a victory, notching three points in a 4-3 overtime loss. In NHL history, only Jerome Iginla has tallied more points against Nashville than Draisaitl, who had an even-strength goal and two power-play assists this time in the matchup. With the effort, Draisaitl extended his point streak to five games. He has averaged two points per game during that run, posting five goals and five assists. In 47 games, Draisaitl has posted 67 points (25 goals, 42 assists), which puts him tied for fourth among all scorers this season. He's also second in the league with 31 power-play points (11 goals, 20 assists).

Joel Hofer Controls Hurricanes Tuesday

St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer produced a 33-save shutout against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night, backstopping his team to a 3-0 victory. Hofer became the first Blues goaltender with four shutouts in a season since Jordan Binnington in 2018-19, tying Ilya Sorokin of the New York Islanders and Jesper Wallstedt of the Minnesota Wild for the league lead. After an awful start to the season, Hofer began to pick up form in December and has enjoyed a 4-2-0 stretch. He has improved his record to 10-9-2 and has a 2.81 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage for the season.

Boston faces the Seattle Kraken in its next game on Thursday. Swayman improved to 18-11-2 for the season on Tuesday night. He has a 2.79 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.

Zach Werenski Totals Three Points in Tuesday's Win

Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski posted his fifth three-point game of the season on Tuesday night, helping Rick Bowness enjoy a winning debut as the team's new head coach in a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames. Werenski scored a power-play goal in the third period and finished with two even-strength assists. It was Werenski's 15th consecutive home appearance with at least one point. Werenski is now just three points behind Colorado's Cale Makar in the battle for the NHL's highest-scoring defenseman honors. He has recorded 50 points (17 goals, 33 assists) in 42 contests. Werenski could soon move past Makar, as Columbus will play six of its next seven games on home ice.

Chandler Stephenson  • C  •  Kraken

Chandler Stephenson Available Wednesday

Seattle Kraken center Chandler Stephenson (personal) was activated from the non-roster list and is available for selection on Wednesday night against the New Jersey Devils. Stephenson has missed the last two games. He should return to a top-six role against New Jersey. The 31-year-old has enjoyed a few hot weeks, becoming Seattle's third-highest scorer. In 42 contests, Stephenson has produced 27 points (11 goals, 16 assists). 15 of his points have come in his last 17 appearances. During that stretch, Stephenson has been held off the score sheet only four times.

Jonathan Marchessault  • C  •  Predators

Jonathan Marchessault Moved to Injured Reserve

Nashville Predators right wing Jonathan Marchessault (lower body) was shifted to Injured Reserve on Tuesday. He missed his 13th consecutive game on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers. The 2023 playoffs MVP has been out with a lower-body injury, and it's unclear when Nashville will have him available again. Marchessault has been limited to 10 points (seven goals, three assists) in 28 appearances this season and carries an ugly minus-18 rating. Strangely, the Predators have been streaking without Marchessault, winning nine of the 13 games he has missed.

Brayden Point  • C  •  Lightning

Brayden Point Labeled Week-to-Week

Tampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point (lower body) is considered week-to-week, head coach Jon Cooper announced before Tuesday's win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Point suffered a lower-body injury during Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers. Cooper said Point "avoided the worst-case scenario" and that "his season is not over." However, the injury raises questions about whether Point will be healthy enough to play for Team Canada at the Olympics. The tournament begins on Feb. 11. Point is having a down year in 2025-26, recording 30 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 37 games.

Robert Thomas  • C  •  Blues

Robert Thomas Out Tuesday

St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas (lower body) won't play on Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes and is considered day-to-day. Reports indicate that Thomas recently aggravated a lower-body injury. Thomas tops the Blues with 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) through 42 games and stands as the team's only player to reach at least 25 points this season. With Thomas sidelined, Brayden Schenn and Dalibor Dvorsky will operate as the top-six centers. At the same time, Nick Bjugstad (upper body) will return from a 15-game absence and slot into the lineup as the third-line center.

Troy Terry a Game-Time Decision Tuesday

Anaheim Ducks right wing Troy Terry (upper body) is a game-time decision on Tuesday against the Dallas Stars. He's hoping to return from a two-game absence. Terry exited from the lineup after bouncing back from a slump with seven points (three goals, four assists) in five games. He is Anaheim's second-highest scorer, sitting on 42 points (13 goals, 29 assists) in 43 games. If Terry returns to action, Nikita Nesterenko is projected to be the odd man out.

Justin Sourdif  • RW  •  Capitals

Justin Sourdif Won't Play Tuesday

Washington Capitals forward Justin Sourdif (upper body) won't be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens. He took a puck to the face on Sunday against the Nashville Predators and will sit out at least one game. Sourdif has notched 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 45 contests during his rookie year. Connor McMichael will take over second-line center duties on Tuesday night, while Anthony Beauvillier will move back into the top six. While moving to a scoring line increases Beauvillier's fantasy value, he has only managed 15 points (nine goals, six assists) in 46 appearances this campaign.

Jakob Chychrun  • D  •  Capitals

Jakob Chychrun a Game-Time Call Tuesday

Washington Capitals defenseman Jakob Chychrun (illness) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's tilt against the Montreal Canadiens. After sitting out Sunday's loss to the Nashville Predators due to illness, Chychrun was back on the ice on Tuesday morning. Trevor van Riemsdyk filled in for Chychrun in defense on Sunday. It's been a big year for Chychrun, although he has slowed down offensively in recent weeks. The 27-year-old has gone scoreless in seven of his last 11 appearances. Still, Chychrun is second among blue-liners with 15 goals and has delivered 17 assists in 45 outings.

Morgan Geekie  • C  •  Bruins

Morgan Geekie Available Tuesday

Boston Bruins forward Morgan Geekie (personal) will be back in action on Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings. For personal reasons, he made a premature exit on Saturday against the New York Rangers and missed Sunday's win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Geekie leads Boston with 25 goals and has added 16 assists in 45 games. On Tuesday, he hopes to end a season-worst four-game point drought. Geekie is set to skate alongside Alex Steeves and Fraser Minten on the third line and will see action on the top power-play unit.

Bryan Rust Returns to Action Tuesday

Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (lower body) will return from a two-game absence on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The veteran forward has shaken off a lower-body injury and will return to his normal role on the top line. Tommy Novak will drop down to the second. While Rust has finished scoreless in each of his last two appearances, he is still close to averaging a point per game. In 40 outings, Rust has managed 16 goals and 20 assists. He has gone without a point in three consecutive games only twice this season.

Penguins Place Erik Karlsson on Injured Reserve

Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. The team plans to re-evaluate the three-time Vezina Trophy winner in two weeks. Karlsson has recorded 33 points (four goals, 29 assists), 94 shots, and 40 blocks with a minus-one rating in 44 appearances this season. Jack St. Ivany is projected to replace Karlsson in the lineup on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning, although the team also recalled Ryan Greaves from the minors for added defensive depth. With Karlsson out, Kris Letang will move to the first power-play unit, giving him extra fantasy value.

Philip Broberg Likely Out Tuesday

St. Louis Blues defenseman Philip Broberg is in concussion protocol and is doubtful for Tuesday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. On Monday, Blues head coach Jim Montgomery said the team's medical staff is "very happy" with Broberg's progress. But he is poised to miss time after getting hurt during Saturday's loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Broberg, who inked a six-year, $48 million contract extension last week, has registered 15 points (two goals, 13 assists), 58 shots, and 71 blocks with a plus-one rating in 46 outings this season. Matthew Kessel is expected to take Broberg's place in the lineup on Tuesday.

Jacob Trouba on Track to Return Tuesday

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba (personal) was back at practice on Monday, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports. This is a strong indication that Trouba will rejoin the lineup on Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars. The powerful blue-liner missed Saturday's loss to the Buffalo Sabres for the birth of his second child. In 44 outings this season, Trouba has amassed 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists), 85 shots, 78 blocks, and 85 hits with a plus-one rating. His return to the lineup is expected to bump Drew Helleson to the press box.

Will Smith Upgraded to Day-to-Day

San Jose Sharks forward Will Smith (upper body) has been upgraded to day-to-day, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports. The 20-year-old sophomore has been out since mid-December due to an upper-body injury. However, Smith appears close to returning and will join the team for a four-game road trip that begins Thursday night in Washington. Smith was almost a point-per-game player early in the season, notching 12 goals and 17 assists in 33 outings. When Smith is cleared to play, he will likely reclaim a top-six role and rejoin the first power-play unit.

Teuvo Teravainen Makes Early Exit Monday

Chicago Blackhawks winger Teuvo Teravainen (upper body) didn't finish Monday's 4-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. He left the contest in the first period due to an upper-body injury. "He could be OK. I just don't know yet for sure. He couldn't finish the game," Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill said postgame. "We'll go under evaluation here tomorrow and it might be something where he's OK, might not be." Recent weeks have been rough for Teravainen from an offensive point of view, as the Finnish forward has been held scoreless in 16 of his last 20 appearances. He has recorded 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 45 games during the season. Chicago's frontline also lost Connor Bedard (illness) as a late scratch on Monday, while Frank Nazar (upper body) remains out of the lineup.
