Brandon Sproat Scheduled to Rejoin Brewers Rotation on Thursday

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat (knee) is slated to rejoin the team's starting rotation on Thursday against the Miami Marlins, according to Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic. Sproat's first appearance of 2026 came as a starter, but his most recent two have come in long relief. The 25-year-old was also evaluated for a knee injury after his most recent outing on Saturday, but it appears as though he has avoided missed time. Sproat has struggled across 10 1/3 innings so far this season, recording a 10.45 ERA and 2.32 WHIP with 10 strikeouts. Command has been the biggest issue, as he's allowed 10 walks. However, Sproat allowed just one run across 3 2/3 innings pitched in his last appearance. He remains a well-regarded prospect with upside who could be a worthy target on the waiver wire for fantasy managers.

Kyle Harrison, Brandon Sproat Being Checked Out for Knee Injuries

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Kyle Harrison and right-hander Brandon Sproat were both being checked out after Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Washington Nationals for knee injuries. According to Brewers manager Pat Murphy, Harrison and Sproat will have their knees examined after the game. Harrison was tagged with his first loss of the year by allowing two earned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out one over 4 1/3 innings. The southpaw owns a 3.07 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts over 14 2/3 innings this season. Harrison is considered questionable for his next scheduled start on Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays. As for Sproat, he came out of the bullpen in Saturday's game and was wild. He allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out three over 3 2/3 innings. Sproat has struggled this season but has lowered his ERA to 10.45. He is also considered questionable for his next scheduled start on Saturday against the Miami Marlins. It's unclear if Sproat or Harrison will miss any time, and the Brewers should have more clarity on the knee injuries once the results are in. Both pitchers are considered day-to-day for now.

Brandon Sproat No Longer in Line to Start This Weekend

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Sproat is no longer listed among the team's probable starters for this weekend's series against the Washington Nationals, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. Right-hander Chad Patrick is scheduled to start on Friday, followed by lefty Kyle Harrison on Saturday, and veteran right-hander Brandon Woodruff on Sunday in the series finale. Sproat was originally scheduled to take the mound for his next start on Saturday. It's unclear exactly why Milwaukee will skip the 25-year-old, but it probably has something to do with his 14.85 ERA through 6 2/3 innings in his first two appearances (one start) with the team this year. In addition to allowing 11 runs, Sproat has walked as many as he's struck out (seven) in his first couple of games after being included in the offseason trade that sent starting pitcher Freddy Peralta to the New York Mets. If Sproat isn't injured, the Brewers might just be taking advantage of Thursday's off day to push him back and give him more time to make some adjustments before his next outing.

Brandon Sproat Roughed Up in Season Debut

Milwaukee Brewers right-handed pitcher Brandon Sproat allowed seven earned runs, six hits, and four walks in his 2026 regular-season debut on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. In his first career start as a Brewer, Sproat was roughed up, but he managed to escape with the no-decision as Milwaukee's bats came alive late in the game and dropped a six-spot in the eighth inning to take the lead (and win). Still, it was a frustrating outing for the young right-hander following an offseason trade from the New York Mets. His ground ball rate was down (albeit over a small sample size), and his control problems came out of nowhere. The lone bright spot from his outing was the fact that his fastball velocity jumped from 96.5 mph in 2025 to 98.6 mph in 2026. Sproat ranks #90 among starters in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for 2026, but he'll need to bounce back in his next outing to prove Sunday's poor performance was a fluke.

Brandon Sproat a Sneaky Waiver-Wire Pickup

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Sproat had a solid spring showing, posting a 3.46 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 21.2 percent K-BB% in 13 innings pitched, earning himself a spot in the Brewers' rotation to begin the year. The right-hander began last season at Triple-A, and although the season-long numbers don't jump off the page, in 10 appearances from June 28 through August 30, the former second-round draft pick recorded a 2.44 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 59 innings pitched (20.9 percent K-BB%), which prompted his promotion to the big leagues. The 6-foot-5 hurler had a 4.79 ERA (2.80 FIP), 1.21 WHIP, and a much lower 11.9 percent K-BB% in his four starts for the Mets last year, and while a 7.40 K/9 in the majors doesn't grab the attention of many fantasy managers, the 25-year-old will draw a very favorable home matchup against the White Sox on Sunday in his first start of 2026. That should make him a viable waiver target, even if just for streaming purposes, and he could be a sneaky DFS pick in a game that the Brewers will surely be favored to win.

Brandon Sproat Makes Brewers Opening Day Rotation

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Monday that right-handed pitching prospect Brandon Sproat has made the Opening Day starting rotation, and he will make his first start of the year on Sunday, March 29, in the final game of the series against the Chicago White Sox. Sproat will only be making his fifth major-league start against the White Sox after posting a 4.79 ERA (2.80 FIP) and 1.21 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and seven walks in 20 2/3 innings over four starts in 2025 with the New York Mets in his MLB debut. He came to Milwaukee in the offseason in the trade that sent pitcher Freddy Peralta to Queens. The 25-year-old was a late bloomer in the upper levels of the minors and could be headed for a trip back to the minors with the Brewers if he isn't consistent early in the year. Sproat has a rotation spot locked down, though, boosting his single-year and dynasty value. He'll be a matchup-based streaming option next week against the White Sox.

Brandon Sproat Should be in Mix for Brewers Rotation Spot

After being acquired from the New York Mets in the deal that involved right-hander Freddy Peralta in the offseason, right-handed pitching prospect Brandon Sproat "should be right in Milwaukee's rotation mix," according to MLB.com. The 25-year-old former third-rounder in 2022 out of Florida made his MLB debut in New York last year and was inconsistent, allowing 11 earned runs on 18 hits while walking seven and striking out 17 in 20 2/3 innings over four starts. Sproat features two high-velocity fastballs and an intriguing offspeed mix of a curveball, sweeper, slider, and changeup. The Brewers could decide that Sproat needs more seasoning at Triple-A, but his chances of winning an Opening Day rotation spot increased with the move to Milwaukee. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder will be a nice late-round flier in mixed fantasy leagues with a deep arsenal if he's on track to start the year in the majors in 2026.

Brandon Sproat Dealt to Brewers in Four-Player Trade

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired starting pitching prospect Brandon Sproat from the New York Mets in a four-player trade, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com. Starter Freddy Peralta and reliever Tobias Myers are headed to the Mets, while Sproat joins shortstop prospect Jett Williams in the package headed back to Milwaukee. Sproat is 25 years old and was the Mets' second-round pick in 2023. The University of Florida product spent most of last season at Triple-A, but he did make his MLB debut and found himself starting four games for the big-league club. Over those four starts, he posted a 2.80 FIP with 7.4 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9. He enjoyed similar success over a larger sample size at Triple-A -- including 8.4 K/9, 3.9 BB/9, and an impressive 53.2% ground ball rate -- but his FIP was markedly higher (4.18). Sproat has always been a starter in pro baseball, and while the Mets reportedly floated the idea of using him as a multi-inning reliever in 2026, the Brewers' willingness to acquire him in this trade indicates that Milwaukee likely plans to insert him into its rotation. After all, they have a spot to fill after shipping Peralta away. Before Wednesday's trade, Sproat ranked as the #141 starting pitcher in RotoBaller's fantasy baseball draft rankings for 2026.

Brandon Sproat Excellent in No-Decision

New York Mets starting pitcher Brandon Sproat was outstanding on the mound during Saturday's start against the Texas Rangers. Sproat was making his second career start and looked like a pro on the mound. He tossed six scoreless innings, allowing six hits, while striking out three batters in the no-decision. Sproat exited the game after 70 pitches and in line for the win. Sadly, Edwin Diaz blew the game in the ninth inning, but that shouldn't take anything away from Sproat's excellent performance. He'll take a 2.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 10/4 K/BB ratio into his next start versus the Washington Nationals. The rookie right-hander is looking like a solid streaming choice for that one.

Brandon Sproat Shows Promise in MLB Debut Despite Loss

New York Mets right-hander Brandon Sproat made his MLB debut Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, turning in a strong six-inning performance despite taking the loss. Sproat allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven, flashing plenty of upside in a quality outing. The 24-year-old threw 88 pitches, 58 for strikes, good for a 66 percent strike rate. With more opportunities to grow and refine his command, Sproat has the potential to become a key piece in the Mets rotation as they push for a playoff spot.
