Brooks Lee News
Minnesota Twins infield prospect Brooks Lee (back) has been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Lee was fighting for a roster spot with the Twins this spring, but was removed from a game with back spasms and later placed on the Triple-A injured list with lower back pain. The Twins have optimism that Lee could resume playing at some point this season, but no timeline has been established at this point. It is a shame as the Top-50 prospect was on the cusp on a big-league debut this season. For now, he can be ignored in redraft leagues and managers in dynasty leagues should keep tabs on his progress.
Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Brooks Lee is unlikely to earn a spot on the major-league roster directly out of spring training in 2024. The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman views the situation as similar to Edouard Julien's last spring, when coaches were buzzing about Julien to the point a midseason call-up was inevitable. The Twins would love it if Lee crushed Triple-A pitching for a couple months and forced the issue, but if the need arises before then, the Twins won't hesitate to turn to the 22-year-old prospect like they did with Julien in 2023. Lee is currently the team's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and has a bright future in the big leagues with Minnesota. He has excellent contact skills and also has the ability to drive the ball with authority from both sides of the plate. Lee should already be rostered in all dynasty leagues and is worth stashing in deep mixed leagues in spring drafts as well.
Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Brooks Lee was a double shy of the cycle in a 4-for-5 performance with Triple-A St. Paul. He is still adjusting amid his first month in St. Paul, slashing .260/.314/.417 with two home runs, 14 RBI, and a stolen base through 23 games. While it is unlikely he gets the call to the majors this season, the 2022 first-round pick is incredibly close to the majors. With an advanced hit tool and few weaknesses in his game, the 22-year-old should be on the minds of all fantasy baseball managers next season -- regardless of format.

Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Brooks Lee is one of the top prospects in baseball. Baseball America has him ranked 35th best, while MLB.com ranks him 18th. The common theme among pundits is Lee's advanced approach and contact skills from both sides of the plate. The power isn't fully developed for the 23-year-old but could come as he grows physically. He's a great dynasty option and should be rostered in almost all dynasty formats. His redraft status is a little more up in the air, however. Reports early in the year suggest he won't make the Twins' roster out of Spring Training but could push their hand with a hot start to the Triple-A season. Minnesota has Edouard Julien, Royce Lewis, and Carlos Correa covering their infield, so Lee shouldn't be rushed to the bigs unless an injury occurs. Even with his on-base skills, it would be surprising to see Lee crack the top of the Twins' lineup when he finally does arrive, so he may be someone who helps fantasy managers' batting average in 2024 but not much else.
