Walker Jenkins Eyeing Early April Return

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) is "tracking well," according to general manager Jeremy Zoll. The Twins' GM stated that MLB's No. 3 overall prospect has been working on the back fields, and although Jenkins may not be assigned to an Opening Day roster, they do expect him to participate in games in the not-too-distant future. The 20-year-old is expected to begin the season at Double-A Wichita which is where he finished last season. The left-handed slugger slashed .283/.394/.450 between Single-A and High-A in 2024, but went just 4-for-25 (.160) during his six-game audition at Double-A. Still, the former first-round draft pick has one of the best hit tools in the minors and should make his way to Triple-A by season's end. Redraft managers may want to consider stashing him later in the season if it looks like he could make his debut; otherwise, expect the 20-year-old to have an impact on the 2026 campaign and beyond.

Walker Jenkins Has Mild Ankle Sprain

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) suffered a mild ankle sprain. Jenkins sustained this injury when jumping for a ball. Dan Hayes of The Athletic noted that this injury is not serious and is just "1-to-2 weeks behind." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the next week as he may begin to return to baseball activities in the coming days. Last season, Jenkins was only limited to 82 games of action as he dealt with a hamstring strain. Across 34 games with High-A, the former fifth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft held a .290/.382/.481 slash line with three home runs and eight stolen bases. However, in his brief taste of Double-A, Jenkins held a .160 AVG across six contests. Fantasy managers should expect the budding star to open the campaign with Double-A.

Walker Jenkins Extends Hitting Streak To Seven Games

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins has been swinging a hot bat over the past week and is currently carrying a seven-game hitting streak at High-A. On Wednesday evening, the top prospect went 3-for-5 with a triple and a stolen base. Since joining High-A Cedar Rapids on July 29, the former fifth-overall pick has posted a strong .289/.352/.485 line with two home runs, nine doubles, 11 RBI, and five stolen bases. Earlier this season in his second look at Single-A, Jenkins posted a .273/.404/.413 line. The South Brunswick HS product currently sits as the fourth-best prospect in the sport on MLB.com and remains a coveted asset in dynasty leagues.

Walker Jenkins Logs Another Multi-Hit Game

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins recorded his seventh multi-hit game this month for High-A Cedar Rapids with a 2-for-4 performance on Thursday. The 19-year-old is hitting .250/.318/.368 in 19 games since his promotion to High-A. With three different teams this season, Jenkins has totaled three homers and 47 RBI in 61 games. The No. 4 prospect in all of baseball, Jenkins is off to a good start to his professional career although he has been limited a bit this season by injuries. He has taken some time to adjust to High-A, but at 19 years old, that is to be expected. His ceiling is sky-high.

Walker Jenkins Promoted To High-A

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins has been promoted to High-A Cedar Rapids after a strong showing at Single-A Fort Myers where he slashed .273/.404/.413. Among his achievements at Single-A was a 13-game hit streak and a superb 28:17 BB:K. The former first-round draft pick is ranked as the fifth-highest prospect in all of baseball per MLB.com so should already be rostered in dynasty leagues and could be knocking on the door to the big leagues at some point next season.

Walker Jenkins Stays Hot On Wednesday

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins extended his hitting streak to 13 games on Wednesday as he went 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. During this incredible stretch, the top prospect in Minnesota has held a stellar .378/.541/.622 line with two home runs, 12 RBI, four stolen bases, and a 16:6 BB:K ratio. Overall, through his first extended look at Single-A ball, the former fifth-overall pick has posted a .291/.423/.455 line. Jenkins should be on his way to High-A fairly soon and could spend most of next summer in the upper levels of the minor leagues. Jenkins should be rostered in all dynasty and keeper formats, as he is considered the fifth-best prospect in all of baseball on MLB.com.

Walker Jenkins Caps Off Week With Second Long Ball Of The Season

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins capped off a big week by tallying two hits on Saturday, June 29, including his second round-tripper of the campaign. During the week, the number five ranked prospect on MLB.com posted a strong .290/.353/.516 slash line with nine total hits, nine RBI, and a 3:4 BB:K ratio. After missing most of the season with a hamstring injury, Jenkins has only logged 19 games at Single-A and posted a .239/.333/.373 line. However, he has begun to find his footing in the batter's box so dynasty managers should expect him to raise his batting ratios significantly through July. The former fifth overall selection in last year's draft logged 12 games at Single-A last summer and posted a stellar .392/.446/.608 slash line with one long ball and 10 RBI. The 19-year-old outfielder is a budding superstar and will be a name to keep a close eye on as he progresses through the minor leagues.

Walker Jenkins Drives In Four Runs For Single-A Fort Myers

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins had two hits and drove in four runs for Single-A Fort Myers on Wednesday. The No. 1 overall prospect in the Twins' system is hitting just .233 in June for Fort Myers with one homer and 19 RBI. The productive game on Wednesday is a good sign for Jenkins, who is a premium outfield prospect. The 19-year-old has a powerful left-handed swing and is swift on the basepaths. Jenkins' progress this season was stalled by an early-season hamstring injury. He has had most of this month at Fort Myers to get back in the groove a bit. Look for big things from the youngster who is a name to file away in redraft leagues.

Walker Jenkins Producing At Single-A Fort Myers In June

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (hamstring) returned to Single-A Fort Myers on June 4 and has driven in eight runs in his eight games back from a hamstring injury. During those eight games, the 19-year-old switch hitter has more walks (six) than strikeouts (five). Jenkins is Minnesota's top overall prospect, and his five-tool profile makes him one of the top young players in the minors. The hamstring injury dampened some of his excitement this year, and he has yet to hit a home run in 2024. However, the buzz is still there whenever this young superstar is able to take the field. At 19, Jenkins will likely get a few more years of seasoning in the minors before he debuts at Target Field. We could be looking at a fantasy superstar for years to come.

Walker Jenkins Returns To Game Action

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (hamstring) returned to the Twins rookie-level complex facility on Monday as a designated hitter to begin his return to action. Jenkins, 19, is the Twins No.1 prospect and he has been sidelined all season with a left hamstring strain. The outfielder has dealt with a flurry of injuries since being selected with the fifth overall pick in 2023, but he offers plenty to be excited about when he is healthy. Swinging from the left side, Jenkins has very quick bat speed and he makes a lot of hard contact. His power should also continue to improve as his body is still maturing. Jenkins is likely to open his season in Single-A, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him reach High-A before the season is over with an eye on Double-A next season. Jenkins is still a few years away from a potential big-league promotion, but he is worth a look in dynasty leagues.
