Connor Prielipp Still Worth Rostering Despite Inconsistent Results?

Minnesota Twins rookie left-hander Connor Prielipp has been inconsistent in his first nine major-league starts for the Twins this year, going 2-4 with a 5.15 ERA (3.43 FIP) and 1.33 WHIP with 49 strikeouts and 18 walks in 43 2/3 innings pitched. The 25-year-old former second-round pick in 2022 out of the University of Alabama didn't allow more than two earned runs in any of his first five MLB starts, but he has hit a rough patch of late, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) on 25 hits while walking nine and striking out 20 in 18 2/3 innings over his last four starts. The silver lining is that Prielipp only gave up two earned runs in his fourth loss on Sunday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals in 4 1/3 innings, and he does have seven strikeouts in each of his last two starts. Because of his swing-and-miss stuff alone -- he has a 25.7% strikeout rate and a walk rate under 10% -- Prielipp is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues. He's currently rostered in just 8% of Yahoo leagues.

Connor Prielipp's Rough Stretch Continues, Fantasy Value Fading

Minnesota Twins left-hander Connor Prielipp has hit a rough patch, allowing 11 earned runs across his last two starts while recording just 8 1/3 innings. The struggles come shortly after Prielipp logged the first quality start of his rookie season on May 16. His ERA has climbed to 5.13, and he owns a 1.35 WHIP through his first year in the majors. The former second-round pick and No. 5 prospect in the Twins organization has shown flashes of upside, but limiting hard contact has become a growing concern. Prielipp's 6.8 barrel-per-plate appearance rate and 10.8 percent barrel rate both sit above league average. He may continue to receive opportunities, but fantasy managers should explore other options until he shows signs of regaining consistency.

Connor Prielipp Remains a High-Upside Streamer to Target on the Waiver Wire

Across 29 innings (six starts) since making his MLB debut on April 22, Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Connor Prielipp has recorded a 1-2 record with a 4.03 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts. The 25-year-old is coming off a rough showing in his most recent outing, allowing five earned runs across four innings of work against the Boston Red Sox. However, Prielipp logged 14 strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs across his two starts before the blowup against Boston. Prielipp showcased strikeout upside throughout his time in the minors, posting a 27% strikeouts rate across two levels in 2025 and striking out nearly 35% of the batters he faced in Triple-A before getting promoted this season. Prielipp's next two starts are currently slated to come against the Chicago White Sox, making him an appealing streaming option for fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire.

Connor Prielipp's Fantasy Stock Rising Despite Weekend Loss

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Connor Prielipp was handed the loss on Saturday, but he still looked like a fantasy star in the making. In his fifth MLB start, Prielipp went six innings, allowing two runs (one earned), three hits, two walks, and striking out eight. The rookie now has a 1-2 record with 29 strikeouts, a 2.88 ERA, and 0.96 WHIP. With starters Mick Abel (elbow/triceps) and Taj Bradley (pectoral) still on the injured list, Prielipp's spot in Minnesota's rotation is secure for the time being. The Twins are going to be careful with their fifth-ranked prospect, as the 25-year-old peaked at 82.2 IP in the minors last season, and his May 16 start was only the second time he has lasted six innings. Still, the youngster offers plenty of strikeout potential on a slider-fastball combo that generated a 13.0% swinging strike rate in Triple-A this season before his promotion.

Connor Prielipp Being Pushed Back, Twins Managing his Innings

The Minnesota Twins will push back left-handed pitching prospect Connor Prielipp's next start a day or two to help manage his innings, according to Bobby Nightengale of The Minneapolis Star Tribune. Zebby Matthews will be called up from the minors to start Thursday's series finale against the Miami Marlins. The 25-year-old Prielipp has looked good in his first four major-league starts, posting a 3.32 ERA (4.38 FIP) and 1.00 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and seven walks in 19 innings pitched, but since he has not thrown more than 83 2/3 innings in a single season as a professional, the Twins will handle him with kid gloves in 2026. The team's No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has also had Tommy John surgery twice in his career. Prielipp is currently rostered in only 12% of Yahoo leagues, and his innings cap this year will certainly keep his fantasy ceiling low in his first year in the big leagues with the Twins. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound southpaw's stuff is real with a high-90s heater that gets plenty of swing and miss. Prielipp also generates elite-level spin on his slider and features a changeup that also draws plenty of whiffs.

Connor Prielipp is Offering Deep League Value After Another Solid Outing

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Connor Prielipp has been a consistent option for the team over the last few weeks. Prielipp took the mound for his third start of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. He tossed five innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits while striking out four batters. The rookie southpaw owns a 3.86 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a 15/5 K/BB ratio across three starts. He has held his opponents to under three earned runs in each of his first three starts. Prielipp could be worth a look in deep leagues for as long as he sticks on the big league roster.

Connor Prielipp Called Up to Make MLB Debut on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins left-handed pitching prospect Connor Prielipp has been called up from the minors to make his major-league debut and start against the New York Mets on Wednesday, according to Matthew Leach of MLB.com. Prielipp is taking the roster spot of Mick Abel (elbow), who landed on the 15-day injured list on Monday. He was a former second-round pick in 2022. Prielipp has a lengthy injury history, but the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has "dynamite stuff" when he's healthy. In his last start for Triple-A St. Paul on April 16, the young lefty struck out eight over five innings. The 25-year-old has already had two Tommy John surgeries, but he's healthy now and was looking great at St. Paul, posting a 2.30 ERA with 22 strikeouts and eight walks in 15 2/3 innings before his call-up. Prielipp probably won't go very deep in his MLB debut at Citi Field on Wednesday, but he does have an excellent matchup against a struggling Mets team that has lost 12 straight games.

Connor Prielipp has the Arsenal to Start for the Twins

Minnesota Twins left-handed pitching prospect Connor Prielipp has the arsenal to start -- four-seam and two-seam fastballs, a slider, a changeup, and a curveball -- but he had thrown only 30 innings in the minors heading into last year since being drafted in 2022. Prielipp had Tommy John surgery back in 2021 and then needed an internal-brace procedure in July of 2023. The 25-year-old southpaw, who stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, recorded a 4.03 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 98 strikeouts and 31 walks in 82 2/3 innings over 24 appearances (23 starts) in 2025 with Double-A Wichita and Triple-A St. Paul. It was encouraging that he got through a full season healthy, but his injury history could push the Twins to use him in shorter relief stints in 2026 if he's on the big-league roster. The former 48th overall pick struggled with control at Triple-A, but his 10.7 K/9 was encouraging. Prielipp is a pitching prospect to monitor in dynasty leagues.

Connor Prielipp Promoted to Triple-A St. Paul

Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Connor Prielipp has been promoted to Triple-A St. Paul after 19 starts at Double-A. The Twins' 11th-ranked prospect per MLB.com posted a 3.65 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and a 20.4 percent K-BB% in 61 2/3 innings pitched for Wichita. After having Tommy John and an internal brace procedure, the former second-round draft pick amassed just nine starts and 25 1/3 innings pitched coming into 2025 between Single-A and High-A since being drafted in 2022, so this is by far the most complete season he's pitched yet. With the injury history, though, the Twins may limit the 24-year-old over the remainder of the season. However, if the 6-foot-2 southpaw performs well at Triple-A, expect to see him in the big leagues at some point next year, although his fantasy value may be capped for a bit if the organization remains cautious in its approach.

Connor Prielipp Undergoes UCL Surgery Monday

Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Connor Prielipp (elbow) underwent ulnar collateral ligament surgery in his pitching elbow Monday, per The Athletic's Dan Hayes. Hayes noted that the surgery was merely a UCL repair with the inclusion of an internal brace, not a full Tommy John surgery. The 22-year-old is the team's top pitching prospect, per MLB's Prospect Rankings. However, he previously underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021 and has made just two career starts in his professional career. Prielipp still holds a good deal of fantasy value in dynasty leagues, and while a timetable for his recovery is not yet known, fantasy managers should not expect him to pitch again this season.
