Luke Keaschall to Miss Rest of Season With Thumb Injury

Minnesota Twins rookie second baseman Luke Keaschall (thumb) will miss the rest of the season with a sprained left thumb. The 23-year-old will visit a specialist next week to determine whether he'll require surgery. A second-round pick in 2023, Keaschall rose quickly through the Twins' system and debuted with the club on April 18. Keaschall's career got off to a rough start, though, as he suffered a broken bone in his right arm in his seventh game and didn't return until the first week of August. Injuries aside, Keaschall's performance was one of the few positives to take from an awful season for the Twins. In 49 games and 207 plate appearances, he slashed an outstanding .302/.382/.445 with four homers, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases.

Luke Keaschall Absent on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins infielder Luke Keaschall (thumb) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. This doesn't come as a shock after Keaschall was removed from Tuesday's game. Keaschall suffered a left thumb injury while stealing second base. For now, Keaschall should be considered day-to-day, but this injury could end his season. The rookie infielder has been solid at the plate during his 200-plus plate appearances in the big leagues. He's slashing .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, and 14 steals in 49 games. Fantasy managers should check back on Thursday for another update on his status.

Luke Keaschall Exits Tuesday With Left-Thumb Sprain

Minnesota Twins second baseman Luke Keaschall (thumb) exited Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rangers with a left thumb sprain, per the Athletic's Dan Hayes. Keaschall went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base before being replaced defensively by Edouard Julien in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old described his thumb as swollen and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Keaschall has put forth a solid rookie performance since rejoining the Twins at the beginning of August, slashing .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 207 plate appearances.

Luke Keaschall Busy in Thursday's Loss

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall continued to stay productive on the scoreboard during their loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. In this contest, the former second round pick went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. He struck out twice. Keaschall knocked an RBI single in the third inning off Detroit ace Tarik Skubal. Since returning to the big leagues on August 5, the 23-year-old has been one of the most productive hitters in the sport. During this nine-game stretch, Keaschall has held a .308/.308/.538 line with three doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI, and a stolen base. Before suffering a forearm fracture which kept him sidelined throughout most of the first half, Keaschall posted a .368 AVG with five stolen bases over his first six MLB games. Given his ability to steal bases and hit for power, Keaschall remains a top target to add on the waiver wire.

Luke Keaschall Tallies RBI No. 13 on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall continued his impressive start to his MLB career on Wednesday evening during their victory over the New York Yankees. In this contest, Keaschall went 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI. In the fourth, Keaschall tallied his RBI via groundout, which scored Trevor Larnach. Later in the sixth, Keaschall would score on a Kody Clemens double. Since returning from injury on August 5, the former second-round pick has been one of the most productive hitters in the sport, posting an elite .324/.324/.588 slash line with three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI, and three runs. In his first six games in the majors before his injury in April, Keaschall looked just as impressive, swiping five bags and hitting a .368 AVG. He is a must-roster player going forward given his power and speed upside.

Luke Keaschall Sharp Since Returning to the Majors

Minnesota Twins first base/second base/outfield prospect Luke Keaschall has been nothing short of dominant since returning to the major leagues. The former second-round pick was sidelined for nearly three months due to a forearm fracture. However, throughout his first two games back with Minnesota, Keaschall has gone 4-for-9 at the plate with two doubles and a home run. During this stretch, the No. 42-ranked prospect in the sport tallied six RBI and scored one run. Earlier in the campaign, Keaschall made his MLB debut and flashed immense upside. In his first six games in Minnesota before suffering the fracture, Keaschall tallied three doubles and swiped five bags in a six-game stint. Fantasy managers should view Keaschall as a must-target on the waiver wire, as he should continue to see everyday opportunities in the Minnesota starting nine.

Luke Keaschall Launches First Career Home Run

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall wasted little time to make an impact in his first game in the majors since April. On Tuesday evening, the former 49th overall pick went 2-for-4 with a home run and single. The No. 46-ranked prospect on MLB.com would go deep in his first at-bat of the evening and hit a two-run shot off Detroit right-hander Chris Paddack. Later in the contest, Keaschall would knock an RBI single to tally his third RBI of the game. Keaschall missed nearly the entire first half due to a fractured forearm. During his first seven games in Minnesota before the injury, Keaschall posted an impressive .368/.538/.526 slash line with five stolen bases. Given his ability to hit for power and steal bases, he should be viewed as a top target on the waiver wire this week.

Luke Keaschall Activated and Starting for Twins on Tuesday

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall (forearm) was activated from the 60-day injured and will start at second base and bat fifth on Tuesday against the division-rival Detroit Tigers and right-hander Chris Paddack at Comerica Park. Keaschall will join the big-league squad after being out since late April with a forearm fracture. The 22-year-old right-handed hitter only played in seven games at the big-league level with the Twins earlier this year before his injury, going 7-for-19 with two RBI, four runs scored and five stolen bases. The former second-rounder out of Arizona State has the ability to hit for average and power while getting on base frequently and stealing bases, and he should get plenty of run the rest of the 2025 season with the Twins looking to rebuild.

Luke Keaschall Could be Activated from Injured List on Tuesday

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall (forearm) reportedly has a locker in the Twins' clubhouse, which potentially indicates that he'll be activated from the 60-day IL on Tuesday. The Twins' third-ranked prospect has been rehabbing at Triple-A over the last couple of weeks, hitting .265 (13-for-49) with a double, a triple, an 8:6 BB:K, and seven steals in 14 games. The 22-year-old displayed the same type of stolen base prowess and hitting ability during his limited time with Minnesota earlier this season, hitting .368 (7-for-19) with three doubles, a 5:2 BB:K, and five steals in seven games for the Twins. Eligible at 1B, 2B, and OF in Yahoo! leagues, Keaschall would be worthy of a roster spot in most 12-team leagues.

Luke Keaschall to Continue Rehab Assignment

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall (forearm) is expected to continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul. Keaschall was serving as a DH throughout the majority of his first week of rehab and is now slated to see more time in the field before being slated off the 60-day injured list. Through his first 11 games of this rehab assignment, the former second-round pick has posted a .225/.319/.225 line with five stolen bases. Earlier this season, Keaschall made his MLB debut and immediately flashed upside at the major league level. Through his first seven games in Minnesota, Keaschall posted an elite .368/.538/.526 slash line with three doubles and five stolen bases. He is worth stashing in all standard formats ahead of his activation.
