Luke Keaschall a High-Floor Depth Option to Target on the Waiver Wire

Across 366 plate appearances in 2026, Minnesota Twins second baseman/outfielder Luke Keaschall is hitting .263/.352/.352 with four home runs, 28 RBI, 49 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases. With his 3.0% barrel rate and 27.9% hard-hit rate, Keaschall is highly unlikely to provide value in the power categories for fantasy managers. However, the 23-year-old limits swing-and-miss (15.0% strikeout rate) and gets on base (9.8% walk rate). His ability to make contact gives him a safe batting average floor, and he's a threat to reach 20 stolen bases while consistently scoring runs. Keaschall has also shown an ability to play the outfield, which helps keep his bat in the Twins lineup and provides him with multi-positional eligibility for fantasy managers. Keaschall may not offer a ton of upside, but he profiles as a useful depth piece for deeper-league managers to target on the waiver wire.

Luke Keaschall Making First Career Start in Center Field

Minnesota Twins second baseman/outfielder Luke Keaschall is making his first start in center field and will bat seventh on Wednesday against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians and right-hander Slade Cecconi, according to MLB.com. Keaschall is already eligible in the outfield, in addition to second base, in Yahoo leagues, so it's not a ground-breaking development, but the 23-year-old could see regular starts in center field for the Twins for however long Byron Buxton (hip) stays on the injured list. Keaschall has struggled offensively in his first full season in the big leagues, as he enters Wednesday's action with a .255/.341/.347 slash line, .688 OPS, four home runs, 26 RBI, 12 stolen bases, and 46 runs scored in 86 games across his 337 plate appearances. He's gone 9-for-39 (.231) with two homers, a double, two RBI, eight runs, and a steal in his last 14 games, but he's gotten going so far in July and carries a modest five-game hitting streak into Wednesday's tilt at Target Field. In three career at-bats against Cecconi, Keaschall has one hit.

Is Luke Keaschall a Worthy Deep-League Waiver-Wire Target?

Across 309 plate appearances in 2026, Minnesota Twins second baseman Luke Keaschall is hitting .247/.330/.321 with two home runs, 24 RBI, 29 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases. The 23-year-old's underlying power metrics are highly underwhelming, as he's logged a 3.1% barrel rate and a 28.8% hard-hit rate. However, Keaschall's strong plate approach is underscored by his 9.7% walk rate and 15.5% strikeout rate. He also remains a capable source of speed for fantasy managers, as he's recorded 25 stolen bases in 31 attempts across 128 MLB games. Fantasy managers should be aware that Keaschall will hurt them in the power categories. Still, for deeper league rosters in need of speed and some batting average upside, Keaschall could be worth targeting on the waiver wire.

Luke Keaschall Trending Up Amid Four-Game Hitting Streak

Minnesota Twins second baseman Luke Keaschall's stats in the month of April are underwhelming, but he appears to be getting back on track. The 23-year-old owns a four-game hitting streak, going 5-for-14 with one double, one RBI, two walks, and five strikeouts during that span. In total this season, he's slashing .221/.276/.283 with just one home run, but he does have seven stolen bases. The power output has been minimal, though, as he owns a .062 ISO and 57 wRC+. His K/BB rate has also taken a step backward from his 49-game sample as a rookie last year; he's walking 6.5% of the time and striking out at a 16.3% clip. On a more promising note, the defense has been above average, and his latest hitting streak could be a sign that he's turning things around at the plate. After all, he posted an .837 OPS and 134 wRC+ as a rookie in 2025. As it stands, Keaschall is the #8 second baseman in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings.

Luke Keaschall Could Play Some Outfield in 2026

The Minnesota Twins have hinted that second baseman Luke Keaschall could make some appearances in the outfield during the 2026 season, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic. Keaschall was used solely at second base last season, largely because it was his first MLB campaign and he was coming back from Tommy John surgery. Now, though, he's 16 months removed from the operation and "feels much more confident in his arm strength and being smoother with his throwing actions than he was during the 2025 season," Hayes writes. A 2023 second-round pick out of Arizona State, Keaschall wasted no time making an impact at the plate during his debut season. He played in 49 games before injuring his thumb last year, slashing .302/.382/.445 with a 9.2% walk rate, a 14% strikeout rate, 134 wRC+, and 14 stolen bases. Given that he was one of the few bright spots of the Twins' 2025 season and is now fully healthy, he should work his way into the lineup on a near-everyday basis in 2026, even if he moves around defensively. He currently ranks as the #7 second baseman in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball draft rankings for 2026.

Luke Keaschall to Miss Rest of Season With Thumb Injury

Minnesota Twins rookie second baseman Luke Keaschall (thumb) will miss the rest of the season with a sprained left thumb. The 23-year-old will visit a specialist next week to determine whether he'll require surgery. A second-round pick in 2023, Keaschall rose quickly through the Twins' system and debuted with the club on April 18. Keaschall's career got off to a rough start, though, as he suffered a broken bone in his right arm in his seventh game and didn't return until the first week of August. Injuries aside, Keaschall's performance was one of the few positives to take from an awful season for the Twins. In 49 games and 207 plate appearances, he slashed an outstanding .302/.382/.445 with four homers, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases.

Luke Keaschall Absent on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins infielder Luke Keaschall (thumb) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. This doesn't come as a shock after Keaschall was removed from Tuesday's game. Keaschall suffered a left thumb injury while stealing second base. For now, Keaschall should be considered day-to-day, but this injury could end his season. The rookie infielder has been solid at the plate during his 200-plus plate appearances in the big leagues. He's slashing .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, and 14 steals in 49 games. Fantasy managers should check back on Thursday for another update on his status.

Luke Keaschall Exits Tuesday With Left-Thumb Sprain

Minnesota Twins second baseman Luke Keaschall (thumb) exited Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rangers with a left thumb sprain, per the Athletic's Dan Hayes. Keaschall went 0-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base before being replaced defensively by Edouard Julien in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old described his thumb as swollen and will undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Keaschall has put forth a solid rookie performance since rejoining the Twins at the beginning of August, slashing .302/.382/.445 with four home runs, 28 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 207 plate appearances.

Luke Keaschall Busy in Thursday's Loss

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall continued to stay productive on the scoreboard during their loss to the Detroit Tigers on Thursday. In this contest, the former second round pick went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. He struck out twice. Keaschall knocked an RBI single in the third inning off Detroit ace Tarik Skubal. Since returning to the big leagues on August 5, the 23-year-old has been one of the most productive hitters in the sport. During this nine-game stretch, Keaschall has held a .308/.308/.538 line with three doubles, two home runs, 12 RBI, and a stolen base. Before suffering a forearm fracture which kept him sidelined throughout most of the first half, Keaschall posted a .368 AVG with five stolen bases over his first six MLB games. Given his ability to steal bases and hit for power, Keaschall remains a top target to add on the waiver wire.

Luke Keaschall Tallies RBI No. 13 on Wednesday

Minnesota Twins second base prospect Luke Keaschall continued his impressive start to his MLB career on Wednesday evening during their victory over the New York Yankees. In this contest, Keaschall went 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI. In the fourth, Keaschall tallied his RBI via groundout, which scored Trevor Larnach. Later in the sixth, Keaschall would score on a Kody Clemens double. Since returning from injury on August 5, the former second-round pick has been one of the most productive hitters in the sport, posting an elite .324/.324/.588 slash line with three doubles, two home runs, 11 RBI, and three runs. In his first six games in the majors before his injury in April, Keaschall looked just as impressive, swiping five bags and hitting a .368 AVG. He is a must-roster player going forward given his power and speed upside.
