Coleman Crow Likely Done for the Year

Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Coleman Crow (forearm) will likely miss the rest of the 2025 season with a flexor strain. The Brewers' 25th-ranked prospect hadn't pitched since July 9, and was dealing with a hip injury at that time as well. The 24-year-old was the team's Minor League Pitcher of the Month in June, which earned him a promotion to Triple-A, where he made two starts before hitting the injured list. Prior to his last start, in which he allowed six earned runs in three innings, the right-hander boasted a 2.30 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 47 innings pitched (26.8 percent K-BB%). So long as the flexor strain doesn't turn into something worse, look for the 6-foot hurler to debut with the Brewers sometime in 2026.

Coleman Crow Headed To Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired minor-league right-hander Coleman Crow from the New York Mets on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor, according to a source. It's essentially a salary dump for the Brewers while taking on a young pitcher that is likely to miss all of the 2024 season following Tommy John surgery on his right elbow this August. The 28th-round pick in 2019 is listed as the Brewers' No. 25 prospect on MLB Pipeline. The undersized righty (6-foot, 175 pounds) doesn't have overwhelming stuff and has posted a 4.33 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 70 walks and 221 strikeouts in 41 minor-league outings (37 starts) over 214 1/3 innings. Crow doesn't have a fastball that will blow hitters away but instead relies on inducing ground balls and soft contact when on the mound.

Coleman Crow Has Tommy John Surgery

New York Mets pitching prospect Coleman Crow (elbow), the team's No. 29 prospect per MLB Pipeline, underwent Tommy John surgery and will be out until 2024. Crow was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels in June in the trade involving infielder Eduardo Escobar, but he hasn't pitched yet in a Mets affiliate's uniform. The 22-year-old right-hander could end up missing the entire 2024 season, too. He had made just four starts for Double-A Rocket City this year before getting hurt, allowing only five earned runs on nine hits while walking six and striking out 31 in 24 innings. Crow's arsenal isn't overly impressive or overpowering and he's only 6-foot, 175 pounds, but he gets plenty of ground balls and uses his offspeed pitches nicely to set hitters up.
