Twins Acquire Eric Wagaman From the Marlins

The Minnesota Twins acquired infielder Eric Wagaman from the Miami Marlins on Friday in exchange for left-hander Kade Bragg, according to the Marlins. Wagaman will head to the American League Central after the Marlins designated him for assignment earlier in the week. The 28-year-old made his big-league debut in 2024 with the Los Angeles Angels and went 18-for-72 (.250) with two homers and 10 RBI in just 18 games played. He appeared in 140 games for the Fish in 2025, slashing .250/.296/.378 with a .674 OPS, nine home runs, 54 RBI, 56 runs scored, and four stolen bases in 514 plate appearances. In Minnesota, Wagaman will most likely compete for a platoon job against lefties in a corner outfield spot or at first base. Wagaman had a .783 OPS against southpaws. At best, he'll be a bench bat in AL-only leagues in 2026.

Eric Wagaman With Three Knocks In Marlins 11-4 Win On Sunday

Miami Marlins first baseman Eric Wagaman went 3-for-3 on Sunday with two runs scored and two walks. It was a nice afternoon for Wagaman, who is now slashing .231/.318/.359 on the season. The Marlins completed their three-game series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday and took two of three from them over the weekend. The Marlins had Wagaman batting in the cleanup spot on Sunday against a left-handed pitcher, which throughout the season could set up nicely for him as Xavier Edwards and Kyle Stowers batting in front of him both supporting a .406 and .410 on-base percentage, respectively. All that said, Wagaman is not recommended in most 12-team leagues but could be a pick-up in deeper leagues for those looking for a corner infielder if he continues to hit. Next for the Marlins is a three-game series starting Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Eric Wagaman Headed To Miami

According to Daniel Alvarez-Montes of the Miami Chapter Chair, the Miami Marlins are signing third baseman Eric Wagaman to a one-year contract. Wagaman made his major league debut last season with the Angles and posted a .250/.270/.403 line with five doubles and two home runs across a small 18-game stint. Across 27 games at Triple-A last season, Wagaman held an impressive .320/.355/.500 slash line with five doubles, three home runs, and a 6:14 BB:K ratio. Across 146 games at the Double-A level the 27-year-old held a solid .282/.352/.468 line. Fantasy managers should monitor his progress during Spring Training as he may contend for a spot on the Opening Day Roster especially with Jake Burger departing for Texas earlier this offseason.
