Amed Rosario  • 3B  •  Nationals

Amed Rosario Starting on Saturday

Washington Nationals infielder/outfielder Amed Rosario (leg) is starting at third base during Saturday's contest against the San Francisco Giants. Rosario has been held out of the starting lineup since May 15. However, he did make an appearance during Thursday's game. This afternoon, he will bat in the two-hole. Before his injury, Rosario was enjoying a productive stretch at the plate, posting a .361/.410/.500 slash line with two doubles, one home run, and nine RBI. Through 26 games this season, the 29-year-old has posted a .305/.337/.439 line with two long balls and a stolen base. Given his strong start to the season, fantasy managers should expect Rosario to continue to see close to an everyday role in the Washington starting nine. This afternoon, he is slated to face San Francisco lefty Kyle Harrison.

Ramón Laureano  • LF  •  Orioles

Ramon Laureano Placed on 10-Day Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles have placed outfielder Ramon Laureano (ankle) on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain. The 30-year-old sustained this injury during Tuesday's contest. He was viewed day-to-day throughout the week, but the Orioles will instead opt to have him shift to the injured list. Before his injury, Laureano was swinging a hot bat, posting a .414/.469/.690 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, and one stolen base over his last nine contests. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress as the 30-year-old could be in danger of missing longer than the minimum stay. While he remains sidelined, this should open up opportunities in left field for Heston Kjerstad, Dylan Carlson, and Terrin Vavra. Laureano is worth holding in deeper AL-only leagues as he should have close to an everyday role when he returns.

Rhett Lowder  • SP  •  Reds

Rhett Lowder Shut Down with Oblique Strain

Cincinnati Reds starting pitching prospect Rhett Lowder (oblique) is expected to be shut down for a few weeks. Lowder exited his last rehab outing with an oblique strain. According to Charlie Goldsmith of FOX19, the right-hander will not be able to "do much" for a few weeks. After this period, he will return to Arizona to restart the buildup process. The 23-year-old was initially recovering from a forearm injury but will now face a more extended recovery period with the added oblique strain. The Wake Forest product made his MLB debut last season and performed well in Cincinnati as he logged 30 2/3 innings of work to the tune of a 1.17 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP. Given that Lowder does not have a definitive timetable, fantasy managers should not view him as a potential stash option. When he is cleared to return, he should have a role in the starting rotation.

Bobby Miller  • SP  •  Dodgers

Bobby Miller Recalled Ahead of Saturday's Contest

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to promote right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller ahead of their contest on Saturday evening against the New York Mets. The 26-year-old made one appearance with the Dodgers earlier this season and stumbled as he allowed eight hits and six earned runs. Fantasy managers should expect Miller to provide depth as a long-relief option. Last season, Miller struggled during his sophomore campaign as he posted a high 8.52 ERA with a 1.77 WHIP across 56 innings of work. However, he showed strong promise during his rookie season, holding a 3.76 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP. Through 35 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, the right-hander has posted a modest 4.63 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP. Given his projected role as a low-leverage relief option, he is not worth rostering in any standard leagues.

Jonny DeLuca  • CF  •  Rays

Jonny DeLuca Begins Rehab Assignment

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jonny DeLuca (shoulder) has begun a rehab assignment with the Rays' Florida Complex League affiliate. The 26-year-old has been on the 10-day injured list since early April with a shoulder strain. However, DeLuca suffered a setback, which pushed back his timeline. Earlier in May, DeLuca was cleared to begin hitting off a tee and has now recently joined the FCL to begin his rehab assignment. Given the time he missed, fantasy managers should expect DeLuca to spend at least a few weeks in the minor leagues before returning to action. Last season, DeLuca appeared in 107 games for the Rays and held .217/.278/.331 line with six home runs and 16 stolen bases. Before the injury, DeLuca held a .435 AVG across the first nine games of the season. When he does return to action, he should compete for time in center and right field.

Max Scherzer  • SP  •  Blue Jays

Max Scherzer Set to Throw Two Bullpen Sessions

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) is set to throw bullpen sessions on Saturday and Monday. If these sessions go well, the right-hander could be cleared to join the team in their upcoming series in Texas to face live hitters. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the weekend, as the 40-year-old could take a significant step forward in his recovery plan. Scherzer has been on the injured list with inflammation in his right thumb. The right-hander sustained this injury during his season debut. In this outing, Scherzer logged just three innings of work with three hits and two earned runs before exiting early. Given his unknown timetable, fantasy managers should only stash him in deeper 14+ team formats. While he remains sidelined, Eric Lauer should remain in the starting rotation.

Cole Ragans  • SP  •  Royals

Cole Ragans Continues to Play Catch

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Cole Ragans (groin) has continued to play catch and is expected to come off the 15-day injured list when first eligible. The southpaw hit the injured list after experiencing groin tightness during his start on May 16. However, Ragans has continued progressing well and remains on track to return to action when first eligible. Prior to his injury, Ragans was enjoying a strong start to the season, tallying 72 punchouts (fourth most in the AL) across 45 2/3 innings. He has posted a 4.53 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP. However, under the hood, the left-hander has generated an elite 2.26 xERA with a .190 xBA, suggesting he should see significant positive regression when he returns to action. While he remains sidelined, Noah Cameron and Daniel Lynch IV should remain in the starting rotation.

Shohei Ohtani  • DH  •  Dodgers

Shohei Ohtani to Throw Bullpen on Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Sunday. His session was initially scheduled to be held on Saturday, but it will instead be pushed back. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as this will be the first time the right-hander faces live hitters since undergoing Tommy John surgery during the 2023 season. The 30-year-old will likely need to complete several live sessions before being considered to return to action. While he has been unable to pitch, Ohtani has still made a significant impact in the batter's box. Through the first 49 games this season, the designated hitter has posted a stellar .303/.397/.643 line with 17 home runs and 11 stolen bases.

Bryse Wilson  • RP  •  White Sox  |  Jonathan Cannon  • SP  •  White Sox

Jonathan Cannon Scratched With Back Tightness, Bryse Wilson to Start

Chicago White Sox right-hander Jonathan Cannon (back) has been scratched from his start on Saturday against the Texas Rangers due to lower-back tightness and is listed as day-to-day, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. With Cannon hurting, right-hander Bryse Wilson will make the start at Rate Field. It sounds like Cannon might be able to avoid a trip to the injured list, but it's unclear when he'll be able to take the mound again. The 24-year-old has only 42 strikeouts in 55 innings over his 10 outings (eight starts) this year, but he's been decent with a 3.76 ERA (4.06 FIP) and 1.31 WHIP in his second year in the big leagues. The Rangers are an excellent matchup with a .651 OPS (fourth-worst in baseball), but Wilson will still be a volatile and risky fantasy streamer on Saturday. In his four starts in 2025, he has allowed 13 earned runs on 27 hits (four homers) with eight walks and 10 K's in 17 2/3 frames.

Carlos Correa  • SS  •  Twins

Carlos Correa Out on Saturday

Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa will take a seat on the bench to start Saturday's divisional contest against the visiting Kansas City Royals at Target Field. Correa will get a breather a day after returning from the seven-day concussion injured list. The 30-year-old Puerto Rican had a nice return in Friday's 3-1 win, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored, but the Twins will give him a day off to ease him back into the fold after his head injury. Brooks Lee will make the start at shortstop on Saturday and will hit third against Royals veteran right-hander Michael Wacha. Lee, the former eight overall pick in 2022 out of Cal Poly, is in a prime lineup spot, but he really hasn't produced much with his opportunities so far this year. The 24-year-old has gone 28-for-122 (.230) with four homers and 13 RBI and is hitless in just two career at-bats versus Wacha.

Willson Contreras  • 1B  •  Cardinals

Willson Contreras Remains Sidelined on Saturday

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras (back) will remain out of action for Saturday's contest at Busch Stadium against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Alec Burleson will make another start at first base and will hit fifth against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly. Contreras was scratched from the series opener against Arizona on Friday due to back spasms, and he's obviously not feeling good enough to return the following day. It's something to keep an eye on with the 33-year-old former catcher, but for now, he's being considered day-to-day. Check back to see if he's available for the series opener on Sunday. Burleson has swung the bat well all year and is hitting .333 (15-for-45) with four home runs, two doubles, 10 RBI, a steal and five runs scored in 16 games in May. He'll be looking for his first knock against Kelly, as he's gone 0-for-3 against him so far in his career.

Corbin Carroll  • RF  •  Diamondbacks

Corbin Carroll Out Versus Cardinals

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll will take the day off on Saturday in St. Louis against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium with a left-hander on the mound. With Carroll getting a day of rest, the D-backs will roll with rookie Tim Tawa in center field and in the eight-hole in the batting order against Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore. Randal Grichuk will start in right and bat seventh. Carroll has been one of the best fantasy contributors so far in 2025 through his first 214 at-bats, slashing .271/.345/.579 with a .924 OPS, 15 home runs, 34 RBI, 40 runs scored and nine stolen bases. Fantasy managers will want to get the former 16th overall pick back in their starting lineups when he returns to action for the series finale on Sunday. Grichuk is known as a lefty killer in his career, but he's gone 12-for-56 (.214) against them so far this year with his only home run. He's also never faced Liberatore.

Ryan Jeffers  • C  •  Twins

Ryan Jeffers Getting a Breather Against Royals

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench on Saturday as the series continues against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Target Field. With Jeffers resting, Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander Zebby Matthews and will hit ninth against Royals right-hander Michael Wacha. Jeffers is Minnesota's primary catcher and is currently riding a modest six-game hitting streak in which he's gone 9-for-23 with a homer, two doubles, two RBI and four runs scored. Vazquez has certainly been the inferior offensive player in his time with the Twins, and the 34-year-old Puerto Rican backstop has gone just 15-for-73 (.205) with a homer, six RBI and five runs scored in 2025. Although he's hit .455 with a .910 OPS in 11 career at-bats against Wacha, we'd advice fantasy managers to look elsewhere in DFS for a catcher.

Salvador Perez  • C  •  Royals

Salvador Perez Feeling Better on Saturday

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (illness) is feeling better on Saturday and is back in the starting lineup against the division-rival Minnesota Twins and right-hander Zebby Matthews at Target Field, serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup for the Royals. Freddy Fermin is doing the catching again and is in the eight-hole. Perez was under the weather and didn't start in Friday's game, but he's back in there a day later and will look to get going after a slow start in 2025. The 35-year-old nine-time All-Star and five-time Silver Slugger winner is batting just .223/.258/.346 on the year with a .603 OPS, three home runs, 23 RBI and 10 runs scored in 188 at-bats. He's hit just .205 in 76 trips to the plate in May as well. Perez has only five career at-bats against Matthews and is searching for his first hit against him.

Ramón Laureano  • LF  •  Orioles

Ramon Laureano Still Out for Game 1 of Doubleheader

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Ramon Laureano (ankle) remains on the bench for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday at Fenway Park against the division-rival Boston Red Sox. Heston Kjerstad will start in right field and hit eighth against Red Sox right-hander Hunter Dobbins. Laureano has not played since injuring his left ankle back on Tuesday, and if he's unable to return at all this weekend in Beantown, he could be a candidate to go on the 10-day injured list to give his ankle more time to heal. The 30-year-old Dominican outfielder hasn't been a bad option for outfield depth in deep fantasy league so far this year, slashing .266/.320/.532 with an .852 OPS, six home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored and two stolen bases. Kjerstad makes for a low-upside DFS sleeper on Saturday in Game 1, as he's just over the Mendoza Line on the year with four homers and 15 RBI in 122 at-bats

Alex Bregman  • 3B  •  Red Sox

Alex Bregman Undergoing MRI, Out of Game 1 Lineup

Boston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Game 1 of a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday at Fenway Park against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles, and manager Alex Cora said Bregman is undergoing an MRI exam on his injured right quadriceps after leaving Friday's blowout win early in the fifth inning. Nick Sogard is playing third base and batting fifth, while catcher Carlos Narvaez moves into the cleanup spot against Orioles right-hander Zach Eflin. Although there's a possibility that Bregman returns for Game 2 of the twin bill on Saturday, it's probably unlikely, even if his quad injury is just a day-to-day deal. Narvaez has mostly hit out of the eight-hole for Boston this year, but the catcher is hitting .349 (29-for-83) with a .413 on-base percentage, .602 slugging percentage, five homers, six doubles, 13 RBI and 16 runs in 24 games since April 18.

Taylor Ward  • LF  •  Angels

Taylor Ward Homers, Extends Hit Streak to Nine Games

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward went 1-for-2 with a walk, a sacrifice fly, and a solo home run in Friday's 7-4 win over the Marlins, collecting two RBI and scoring twice in the contest. Ward is on quite the heater right now, currently riding a nine-game hit streak and hitting safely in 11 of his last 13, during which time the right-handed slugger is 19-for-49 (.388) with 13 of those hits going for extra bases (five 2B, one 3B, seven HR) with 20 RBI and 14 runs scored. The 31-year-old is a streaky hitter, though, and this hot stretch was preceded by a 15-game period of futility in which he went 5-for-53 (.094), so the recent offense outburst has only lifted the veteran's season-long slash line to .228/.276/.523. He can be frustrating for season-long managers, however, ride him while he's hot in DFS.

Zack Wheeler  • SP  •  Phillies

Zack Wheeler Picks Up Win No. 6, Extends Scoreless Innings Streak

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings on Friday, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out eight in a 4-3 victory over the Athletics, picking up his sixth win in the process. It now makes three straight starts where the righty hasn't even allowed one run to cross the plate, a stretch of 19 2/3 innings. The performance lowered his ERA and WHIP to 2.42 and 0.88, respectively, while the veteran owns an elite 27.5 percent K-BB% on the year. The 2x All-Star will look to keep the streak rolling against the Braves at home next week, a team that's middle of the pack in strikeouts per game (8.38) but hits RHP well at a .254 AVG, good for sixth-best, and also just got Ronald Acuna Jr. back.

Trea Turner  • SS  •  Phillies

Trea Turner Homers in Three-Hit Game on Friday

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner was one of the lone bright spots on offense in the Phils' 4-3 win over the Athletics on Friday. The veteran went 3-for-5 from the leadoff spot, belting his fourth home run of the year, collecting two RBI, and stealing a base in the contest. Philadelphia's 2-3-4 hitters went a combined 0-for-10 against LHP Jacob Lopez. It was Turner's fourth multi-hit effort in the last five games, with 14 multi-hit efforts in 24 games since April 27, during which time the 31-year-old is slashing .371/.394/.543. For the season, the 3x All-Star is now hitting .310 with four home runs, 20 RBI, 34 runs scored, and 13 steals, making him a top 10 fantasy option at the position. Turner will face Jeffrey Springs on Saturday, whom he is 1-for-3 off of lifetime.

Brett Baty  • 2B  •  Mets

Brett Baty Homers, Gets on Base Three Times in Loss

New York Mets third baseman Brett Baty went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run in a 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Dodgers on Friday. It's the second straight multi-hit game for the left-handed hitter, a much-needed burst of offense that comes on the heels of a 1-for-15 (.067) stretch at the plate. Still, five of his six home runs and 11 of his 15 RBI have come in the last two weeks since the 6-foot-3 slugger's recall from Triple-A. Baty was not in the original lineup on Friday as he replaced Mark Vientos, who was scratched with abdominal soreness, but if Vientos remains out, Baty would get the nod against Tony Gonsolin on Saturday, whom he's seen just once in his career (0-for-1, K). Gonsolin allowed four earned runs on four hits and five walks his last time out and is allowing an .871 OPS to left-handed hitters in four starts this season compared to .556 against right-handed hitters, so Baty could be in play as a cheap DFS option.
