Gustavo Campero Leads Minors In Hits After Four-Hit Day
Los Angeles Angels outfield prospect Gustavo Campero went 4-for-4 at the plate for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, which included hitting his first home run of the season. The four hits put him in a tie for first place on the minor league leaderboard for most hits so far in 2025 with 29 of them, now slashing a robust .345/.404/.512 with 10 extra-base hits and six steals in 20 games. The switch-hitter slashed .279/.392/.472 between Double and Triple-A last season with 14 home runs and 33 steals, culminating with a late-season call-up to the big leagues where he went 11-for-46 (.239) with a home run and a better-than-league-average strikeout rate of 16.7 percent. The 5-foot-6 Colombian is making the case for another call-up, and with his power-speed combo, he could have an impact in deep and AL-only leagues if he finds his way to regular at-bats, but the 27-year-old isn't a stash candidate at this time.
Los Angeles Angels catcher/outfield prospect Gustavo Campero went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run on Tuesday night for Double-A Rocket City. Campero has performed well throughout the 2024 season, slashing .282/.397/.500 with 16 doubles, 14 homers, 44 RBI, 29 stolen bases, and 38:58 BB/SO. Despite an outstanding year, Campero is not listed among the Angels' top-30 prospects according to MLB.com. But if he continues to impress for the Trash Pandas, he's bound to gain some notoriety as well.
