Jackson Ferris Tosses Eight Inning Gem

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitching prospect Jackson Ferris logged the best start of his season on Thursday evening as he tossed eight no-hit innings. He allowed four free passes and struck out six. This dominant outing was the southpaw's fifth-straight quality start. In this span, the former second-round selection has held a minuscule 0.79 ERA, 0.68 WHIP, and an 11:37 BB:K ratio. Ferris has had trouble finding consistency in the first half of the summer but has clearly taken a step forward in the second half so far. Overall, through 98 frames of High-A ball this season, Ferris sits with a 3.39 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. If he continues to produce at a high rate, he could earn a brief taste of Double-A at the end of the season.

Jackson Ferris Looking For Consistency In Second Half

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitching prospect Jackson Ferris has struggled to find consistency through his first look at High-A ball this summer. Through 77 innings at High-A Great Lakes, the southpaw holds a modest 4.19 ERA, 1.27 WHIP but a strong 34:101 BB:K ratio. At times, Ferris has looked dominant as he logged five starts without surrendering one run and six more, allowing only two or less. However, he has given up four or more runs on six occasions, which has greatly affected his ratios. Ferris is considered the sixth-best prospect in the Dodger system on MLB.com and is a name to keep a close eye on, as he has showcased elite strikeout potential at times.

Jackson Ferris Turns In Six Scoreless Innings In Latest Start

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Jackson Ferris scattered two hits and a walk and struck out eight in six scoreless innings Sunday for the High-A Great Lakes Loons. The left-hander has been very effective in June with a 2.11 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in four starts. He has 32 strikeouts and 10 walks over 21 1/3 innings this month. The 20-year-old has a 60-grade fastball and curveball combination making him an intriguing prospect. The No. 6 prospect in the Dodgers system is making a case for a promotion this year but is still viewed as being a few years away from the majors. One of the top left-handed pitching prospects in baseball, it will be worth monitoring Ferris as he progresses through the minors.
