Jett Williams News
New York Mets shortstop Jett Williams (wrist), the team's top prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been placed on the seven-day injured list at Double-A Binghamton due to right-wrist soreness. Williams hasn't played in over a week and will now miss more time in the minors. On top of the injury, the 20-year-old infielder has hit a weak .180/.360/.308 with no home runs, two RBI, two stolen bases and nine runs scored in 11 games for Binghamton in 2024. Williams' primary position is shortstop, but the Mets have moved him around so far this year and he's also played second base and center field on the farm. He's undersized at 5-foot-7, 175 pounds, but he has impressive power despite his size and also displays a solid understanding of the strike zone at a young age. Right now, he's just a stash candidate in dynasty leagues and isn't expected to debut in the big leagues until 2025 or later.
New York Mets infielders Jett Williams and Luisangel Acuna are drawing a lot of interest as Mets camp gets underway in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Williams is the Mets' highest-rated prospect (No.45 in the Top 100) but Acuna is also considered a high-end prospect. Williams was a first-round pick back in 2022 and slashed .263/.425/.451 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, and 45 steals in 121 minor-league games across three levels. Williams will see time at center field and shortstop while Acuna will get reps at second and shortstop as well. Williams' speed could play well in center field. According to beat writer Anthony DiComo both Acuna and Williams have an outside chance to appear in the majors at some point late in the season. They are must-draft players in dynasty formats but there's no need to rush and draft them in redraft leagues. Both are names to keep an eye on, however, if they do indeed get called up later in the year.
New York Mets shortstop/outfield prospect Jett Williams has been promoted from High-A Brooklyn to Double-A Binghamton, according to sources. Williams, the team's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, earned the promotion after hitting a combined .266/.431/.461 with an .892 OPS, 13 home runs, 21 doubles, eight triples, 53 RBI, 44 stolen bases, 102 walks and 76 runs scored in 115 games with Single-A St. Lucie and Brooklyn. The 19-year-old had a 1.018 OPS in Brooklyn and has mostly played the 6 in the minors this year, but he also is athletic enough to be able to handle center field. Williams, a right-handed hitter and thrower, is just 5-foot-6 but has impressive power for his size.
