Mikey Romero Launches First Double-A Home Run

Boston Red Sox shortstop prospect Mikey Romero went 1-for-4 with his first Double-A home run on Wednesday evening. Romero made his Double-A debut earlier this week on Tuesday and has gone 2-for-9 with three RBI in his first minor taste. Since being drafted with the 24th overall pick in 2022, the infielder has battled numerous injuries and has had trouble staying on the field. Earlier this summer at High-A, Romero held a .271/.319/.498 line across a 59-game stint. The 20-year-old currently sits as the No. 16 prospect in the Boston system on MLB.com and could contend for an MLB debut next summer if he continues to settle in at the upper levels of the minor leagues.

Mikey Romero Promoted To Double-A Portland

Boston Red Sox shortstop prospect Mikey Romero is being promoted to Double-A Portland, according to MiLB Central. Romero has spent the entire summer getting his first extended look at High-A ball and held a .271/.319/.498 slash line with 10 home runs, 20 doubles, and 40 RBI through 59 games. Last summer, the former 24th overall selection was hindered by several injuries, as he logged only 34 games between the lower levels of the minor leagues. Now that he is healthy, dynasty managers should pay close attention to the 20-year-old, as he should spend all of next summer in the upper levels of the minor leagues. Romero currently sits as the 16th-best prospect in the Boston system on MLB.com and could be in contention for a 2025 major-league debut if he is able to stay healthy and continue to showcase his power upside.

Mikey Romero Finding Some Power

Boston Red Sox infield prospect Mikey Romero, who picked pro baseball over a commitment to LSU in 2022, continues to make a positive impression during his age-20 season. The former first-round pick has an aggressive mindset at the plate, fighting off challenging pitches and putting plenty of baseballs in play. While his K/BB ratio is high and his home run total isn't excessive, the Red Sox have to like what they've seen in his production at the plate. There's a little less confidence defensively; Romero has played both second base and shortstop without any extraordinary results. Last week, Romero went 12-for-25 with three home runs, two doubles, and 11 RBI. He also drew one walk and struck out four times, which falls in line with his K/BB ratio this season. He currently owns a six-game hitting streak, during which he's clubbed five homers. He has also reached base safely in 23 consecutive contests, solidifying him as one of Boston's hottest prospects currently.

Mikey Romero Has Big Game For High-A

Boston Red Sox middle infield prospect Mikey Romero put together a big performance for High-A Greenville on Wednesday by going 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, two homers and five RBI. It was his third multi-homer game of the season to go along with his third four-hit game of the season. Romero, 20, was the clubs first-round pick in 2022, but back problems have caused him to have some bumps in the road early on in his career. When healthy, Romero, the Red Sox No.10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, makes good contact in the gaps with a nice left-handed swing. For Greenville this season, Romero is now hitting .273 with 18 doubles, four triples, nine homers and 30 RBI in 47 games. Moving forward, Romero has some big potential, but he will need to stay on the field for that all to come to fruition. He remains a watch-list candidate in dynasty leagues.

Mikey Romero Stays Hot With Four Hits, Two Home Runs

Boston Red Sox infield prospect Mikey Romero stayed hot at the plate on Sunday evening as he tallied four hits, including two home runs and a double. Since July 1, the former first-round selection in the 2022 MLB Draft has been riding a stellar .302/.304/.642 slash line with 11 extra-base hits, eight RBI, and one stolen base. Overall through his first extended look at High-A ball, the 20-year-old has held a modest .244/.292/.449 line, but his recent surge suggests he could be turning the corner. Romero is considered the 11th-best prospect in the Boston system on MLB.com and could push for a late-season promotion to Double-A.
