Angels Claim Osvaldo Bido Off Waivers From Marlins

The Los Angeles Angels announced on Tuesday that they claimed right-hander Osvaldo Bido off waivers from the Miami Marlins. Bido has been tossed around by five different teams so far this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Athletics, where he posted a combined 4.78 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with one save, 131 strikeouts, and 61 walks in 143 innings over 42 appearances (19 starts). The 30-year-old had an ugly 5.87 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a weak 18.7% strikeout rate last season. If Bido makes the Angels' roster out of spring training, he'll most likely be used in a low-leverage relief role while also being an option to make spot starts in the starting rotation. He has a career 5.07 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with a 20.9% strikeout rate. Fantasy managers can avoid Bido everywhere if he's on the Halos' Opening Day roster.

Marlins Claim Osvaldo Bido Off Waivers

The Miami Marlins have claimed right-handed pitcher Osvaldo Bido off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Bido was claimed off waivers by the Rays in December from the Atlanta Braves. He was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay after they needed to open a 40-man roster spot following a trade. The Marlins have decided to pick up the 30-year-old, who is looking to bounce back after a rough 2025 campaign. Last season, Bido registered a 5.87 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 68/35 K/BB ratio across 26 games (10 starts) with the Athletics. Bido posted strong numbers with the A's during the 2024 season. This is a solid low-risk move for the Marlins to take a chance on Bido, who could be a decent swingman option for them in 2026.

Osvaldo Bido Designated for Assignment by Rays

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Osvaldo Bido was designated for assignment by the organization on Monday. Bido was recently picked up on waivers by the Rays, but he won't make it to camp. The Rays acquired infielder Brett Wisley and pitcher Ken Waldichuk from the Atlanta Braves, so they needed to make cuts from their 40-man roster. In 2025, Bido registered a 5.87 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and a 68/35 K/BB ratio across 26 games (10 starts) with the Athletics. He posted a 3.41 ERA in 16 appearances with the A's during the 2024 campaign. He offers enough upside in a swingman role that someone should give him an invite to Spring Training.

Braves Pick Up Osvaldo Bido Off Waivers From A's

The Atlanta Braves announced on Friday that they claimed right-hander Osvaldo Bido off waivers from the Athletics. The Braves also added right-hander Anthony Molina off waivers from the Colorado Rockies. Atlanta designated left-hander Josh Walker for assignment to make room on their 40-man roster for the two new acquisitions. Bido will head to Atlanta to give the Braves a swing arm for the upcoming season. The 30-year-old Dominican hurler will be in his fourth year in the big leagues in 2026. Bido had a career-best 3.41 ERA (3.36 FIP) and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in 63 1/3 innings over 16 outings (nine starts) for the A's in 2024. However, he regressed to a career-worst 5.87 ERA and 1.61 WHIP with a 68:35 K:BB in 26 appearances (10 starts) covering a career-high 79 2/3 innings in 2025. If Bido makes the Opening Day roster, he'll likely be ticketed for a long-relief role.

Osvaldo Bido to Start on Tuesday

Athletics pitcher Osvaldo Bido is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. It seemed like an odd statement, but A's manager Mark Kotsay said Bido will be the pitcher out there in the first inning. The fact he said that means this could be an opener situation or possibly Bido only throws a few innings. He most recently worked three innings against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. That being said, Bido probably won't pitch any deeper into the game than three innings. Bido has struggled on the mound throughout most of the season, so he won't be a recommended streaming option.

Osvaldo Bido Expected to Join A's Rotation

With Athletics rookie left-hander Jacob Lopez (forearm) suffering from left-forearm tightness in his last start and fellow rookie Jack Perkins (shoulder) going on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder strain, right-hander Osvaldo Bido is expected to join the team's starting rotation. If Lopez requires a stint on the IL as well, lefty Joey Estes could also enter the rotation. The 29-year-old Bido would be in line to take the ball and start on Tuesday against the first-place Detroit Tigers in Sacramento. He's been pitching out of the bullpen since being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on July 10. For that reason, Bido could work as a bulk reliever on Tuesday, although he did go three innings and 44 pitches in his most recent relief appearance last Thursday. Bido won't be a recommended streamer this week, and he owns a bloated 5.37 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 49 K's and 25 walks in 65 1/3 innings in 2025.

Osvaldo Bido Wins Rotation Spot

Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido has officially won a spot in the rotation, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. He's struggled this spring but is coming off a surprisingly promising 2024. He posted a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts in 63.1 innings for the Pirates. His underlying metrics looked even better, with a .272 xERA (94th percentile), .181 xBA (98th percentile), and a 27.0% hard-hit rate (100th percentile). He's one to watch in deeper leagues and could be worth a late-round flier at the end of drafts.

Osvaldo Bido Hasn't Resumed Playing Catch

Oakland Athletics right-hander Osvaldo Bido (wrist) had been pitching through a wrist issue for his last few outings, but manager Mark Kotsay said it reached the point that Bido had trouble gripping the baseball following his most recent outing on Sept. 7. The A's are hopeful that Bido could return before the end of the regular season since his injured-list placement was retroactive to Sept. 8. However, as of Monday, Bido still had not begun playing catch. The 28-year-old is dealing with right-wrist flexor tendinitis, and at this point, it's unlikely that he'll be able to return to Oakland's starting rotation in what has been a solid year for him. The Dominican hurler has gone 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in 63 1/3 frames over 16 outings (nine starts) in his first year in Oakland and just his second in the big leagues.

Osvaldo Bido Placed On 15-Day Injured List

The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Osvaldo Bido (wrist) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 8) on Tuesday with right-wrist flexor tendinitis and recalled left-hander Brady Basso and first baseman/outfielder Ryan Noda from Triple-A Las Vegas in corresponding moves. Infielder Tristan Gray was also optioned to Vegas. With Bido going to the shelf, left-hander JP Sears took his turn in the starting rotation to face the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. With just several weeks left in the season, it remains to be seen if the 28-year-old Bido will be able to make any more starts for the A's in 2024. He's been a nice find for fantasy managers in deeper leagues and has pitched well in his first year in Oakland, going 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in his 16 outings (nine starts) covering 63 1/3 innings.

Osvaldo Bido Set To Rejoin Rotation, JP Sears Bumped Back

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido will rejoin the starting rotation on Tuesday against the Houston Astros. Bido was skipped on Saturday, potentially to reduce his workload as he is nearing his total from last year. This is an important move for fantasy, as Bido becomes a two-start pitcher this week (as long as the A's don't skip his next start as well) with the second matchup being against the lowly White Sox. He is a solid option in standard-size leagues, especially points leagues. Also noteworthy is that JP Sears is no longer a two-start pitcher and will lose the juicy White Sox matchup.
