The Seattle Mariners signed right-hander Ryder Ryan to a minor-league deal this week. Ryan has pitched in the minor leagues for the Texas Rangers the last two years. In 47 relief appearances for Triple-A Round Rock in 2022, he went 5-4 with a 3.64 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, one save, 29 walks and 67 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings pitched. It was an improvement over his 2021 campaign with Round Rock, when he went 2-7 with a 5.60 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, 19 walks and 55 strikeouts in 45 innings over 38 relief outings. It's unknown if the 27-year-old will be invited to big-league camp in spring training, but there's a pretty good chance he'll open the 2023 back in the minor leagues for Seattle.
