Titans Have Become Sold On Cam Ward

TitansInsider.com Terry McCormick writes that the Tennessee Titans have become sold on taking Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in next Thursday night's 2025 NFL draft. Although this year's QB class is widely regarded as weak across the board, the Titans entered the offseason fully expected to give former second-rounder Will Levis competition after he flopped in 2024. Initially, Ward was a wild-card in the Titans' evaluations and it looked like Colorado's Shedeur Sanders would be a better fit for head coach Brian Callahan's offense. However, an 18-minute conversation with Ward at the combine in February may have been what really sold the Titans on him. The 22-year-old then "knocked it out of the park" in his official top-30 visit on March 7. Tennessee came away even more impressed with Ward after his Pro Day workout on March 24, and he's likely going to be their starter under center come Week 1 in 2025.

All Signs Point To Titans Taking Cam Ward At No. 1 Overall

The Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that all signs appear to be pointing to the Tennessee Titans taking University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft. Russini goes on to say that the only way the Titans part with the No. 1 pick is through a history trade package. The Titans canceled their private workout with Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders last week, which is further proof that they have their sights set on taking Ward as the first overall pick in a few weeks. Former second-rounder Will Levis flopped in his shot as the team's starting signal-caller in 2024 and led the league with 18 turnovers, leading to his benching. The 22-year-old will expected to come in immediately and start in Week 1 in 2025 after throwing for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions last year.

Cam Ward Considered The Consensus No. 1 QB

University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the consensus No. 1 QB in this year's draft class, by a comfortable margin, according to some. However, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders' pocket-passing ability is appreciated and will make for an easy transition to the next level, which means he could be a slightly better option for the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall, according to multiple scouts. But the same scouts think that the Titans' three primary options will be Ward, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter and trading out of the top spot. ESPN's Turron Davenport and Jeremy Fowler report that the majority of league personnel surveyed think that the Titans prefer to trade back. Both the Giants (No. 3 overall) and Jets (No. 7) reportedly have interest in moving up, but it remains to be seen how aggressive they'll be in a class that lacks top-end signal-callers. Gaining more draft capital could prove to be very attractive for Tennessee as they rebuild.

Cam Ward Won't Throw At NFL Combine

University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward said he will not throw at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Saturday. Ward says his tape speaks for itself and he will instead throw at his school's Pro Day on March 24. It's no surprise, with most of the top prospects sitting out Combine workouts in favor of more controlled environments at their Pro Days. The 22-year-old signal-caller spent one year with the Hurricanes in 2024 and threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions. With elite athleticism as a dual-threat QB, Ward is in play to be the top overall pick in this year's NFL draft, along with Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders and Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter. In addition to his 4,000-plus passing yards and 39 TDs through the air, Ward had 60 rushing attempts for 204 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Saints Meet With Cam Ward

NewOrleans.Football's Nick Underhill reports that the New Orleans Saints met with University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward at the NFL Combine on Thursday. Ward is a candidate to be taken No. 1 overall in this year's NFL draft as one of the top QBs in this year's class. It's not all that notable that the Saints actually met with Ward, as the Saints don't pick until ninth overall in this year's draft, and Ward is widely expected to go within the top three picks. Additionally, there's a good chance the Saints stick with veteran Derek Carr as their starter under center in new head coach Kellen Moore's first season with the team in 2025. However, with Carr carrying a $51.458 million salary cap hit this year, it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Saints move on and then trade into the top portion of the draft to select Ward as their future signal-caller.

Cam Ward Undecided If He'll Throw At Scouting Combine

The Associated Press' Stephen Hawkins reports that University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward, who many project to be taken with one of the first picks in the 2025 NFL draft, hasn't decided if he will throw at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis next week. Ward has taken a lot of heat for not playing in the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl in a 42-41 loss to Iowa State in December, but he also broke the Division 1 record for career touchdown passes (156) before halftime and won the Davey O'Brien award on Monday for the nation's best QB. He finished his college career with 158 TD passes, and his 18,189 passing yards were third-most in NCAA history behind only Case Keenum and Dillon Gabriel. Ward set single-season school records at Miami in 2024 for yards, completions (305), TD passes (39) and completion percentage (67.2%).

Cam Ward Likely To Be First Overall Pick In NFL Draft

ESPN's Pete Thamel writes that University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward is likely to be the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft over Colorado's Shedeur Sanders based on sentiment from scouts and executives at the Senior Bowl last week. Ward's versatility at the position and ability to run have separated him from Sanders. "The reason I thought Jayden Daniels had a great rookie season is ... when it wasn't there, he could make a play," said Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson. "And Cam has that same ability." If the Tennessee Titans keep the No. 1 pick, they could roll with Ward to take over after Will Levis flopped in 2024. The 22-year-old Ward started at Incarnate Word and then moved to Washington State before settling in at Miami in his collegiate career. Dawson also said that Ward is "obsessed with the game."

Cam Ward An Option For Titans At No. 1 Overall

According to Yahoo Sports' Nick Bromberg, Miami quarterback Cam Ward is the favorite to be the Tennessee Titans' pick at No. 1 overall in the 2025 NFL draft if they stick in the spot, according to BetMGM. As of Wednesday, Ward is -115 to be the top selection in the draft after he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in 2024. He threw for 4,300 yards and 39 touchdowns in his only season with the Hurricanes. Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter is the favorite to go second overall, and he's +625 to go first overall to the Titans. Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is expected to go No. 3. Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker said on Wednesday that Tennessee won't pass on a "generational talent," and Hunter best fits that description. The Titans took Will Levis in the second round in 2023, but the Titans appear ready to move on after he struggled in 2024.
