Tyjae Spears Off Fantasy Radar For Tough Matchup Against Minnesota

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears avoided the injury report for the first time since Week 6 and will take on the Vikings in Week 11 action. Spears missed Weeks 7-9 with a hamstring injury but returned for last week's contest vs. the LA Chargers, playing a healthy 46% of snaps. The shifty back still ran behind Pollard in opportunity share, but was able to garner 10 in the game, averaging his highest YPC mark of the season at 6.7. Unfortunately he faces an even tougher run-stopping unit this Week in Minnesota, who are fourth-best at limiting opposing backs. The only saving grace here is that the Vikings are middle-of-the-pack in receptions allowed to RBs, which is a strength of Spears' game. Even so, Spears has a small share of a dysfunctional offense that will have a tough time moving the ball this weekend. He is merely a desperation play in deeper formats, with a slight upgrade in full-PPR.

Tyjae Spears Given 10 Opportunities In Return To Action Vs. Chargers

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears rushed seven times for 47 yards, adding three receptions on as many targets for four yards in a 27-17 loss to LA on Sunday. Spears returned to the lineup this weekend after missing the past few games with a hamstring injury and led the Titans in rushing for the first time all season. A lot of that production came on a throw-away draw play with four seconds left in the first half, but Spears still looked effective when given opportunities, gaining extra yards on multiple plays that looked like they had no chance. The Tulane product will still run behind Tony Pollard if the latter is healthy, but he could potentially work his way into some low-end flex value down the stretch, especially given the Titans will be playing from behind a majority of the time which favors Spears' skillset. On tap for Week 11 are the Minnesota Vikings and their intimidating run defense.

Tyjae Spears Should Not Be Started In Week 10 At Chargers

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) will return in Week 10 to face the Los Angeles Chargers. The second-year back out of Tulane has missed the last three games due a hamstring injury, but practiced in full on Thursday and Friday and has no designation heading into the weekend. With his limited involvement pre-injury, starting Spears against a defense that is top-10 across the board in rushing defensive metrics is not advisable. Especially with Will Levis taking over the offense yet again, which is likely to have a negative impact on all skill position players for Tennessee, Spears is not a great start in any leagues this week.

Tyjae Spears "Trending In The Right Direction"

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) is "trending in the right direction" to play in Week 10 versus the Los Angeles Chargers, according to FOX Sports' Ben Arthur. Spears has been sidelined for each of the team's last three games due to a hamstring injury, but he's on track to return this Sunday on the road after returning to a full practice session on Thursday. In addition, lead back Tony Pollard (foot) was downgraded from a full-go on Wednesday to limited on Thursday, so he could be in danger of missing Sunday's game. The Titans already said they'd like to limit Pollard's workload after he saw a season-high 31 touches in last week's overtime loss to the New England Patriots. Spears will probably be an RB3/flex, at best, in fantasy in a tough matchup if both he and Pollard are active. But if Pollard is out, Spears will become a plug-and-play option in fantasy.

Tyjae Spears Gets Through Full Practice

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was upgraded to a full participant during Thursday's practice. This is a welcoming sight considering Spears hasn't been on the field since Week 6. He was limited to open the week, so an upgrade to full practice is a good sign. Spears hasn't done much damage as the primary backup to Tony Pollard this season. However, Spears could see an increased workload with the Titans wanting to limit Pollard's workload going forward. Regardless, Spears isn't a trustworthy fantasy option against the tough Los Angeles Chargers defense in Week 10.

Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Both Listed As Limited

Tennessee Titans running backs Tony Pollard (foot) and Tyjae Spears (hamstring) were both listed as limited participants in Tennessee's first practice ahead of Week 10. Pollard has dealt with a foot issue for some time but was productive again in last Sunday's 20-17 victory over the New England Patriots and has yet to miss any time this season. On the other hand, Spears is hoping to return from a three-game absence after battling a hamstring injury for the last few contests. Word came out earlier this week that the Titans are looking to reduce the veteran's workload. If Spears is again inactive, backfield mate Julius Chestnut could be on tap for an increased share of the backfield touches this coming Sunday when Tennessee squares off against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road at SoFi Stadium.

Tyjae Spears Ruled Out For Week 9

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 9's contest against the New England Patriots. Spears opened the week as a limited participant but was then downgraded to a non-participant on Thursday and Friday. Spears will now miss his third-straight game and will set his sights on returning next weekend to face the Los Angeles Chargers. Through the first-half of the campaign, Spears has been deployed as the clear No.2 option behind Tony Pollard. However, Pollard (foot) is listed as questionable and could also be in danger of missing Sunday's game. If he is unable to suit up, fantasy managers should expect Julius Chestnut to serve as the lead option.

Tyjae Spears Misses Thursday's Practice Session

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was unable to suit up for Thursday's practice session. Spears was limited to open the week, but downgraded to did not practice on Thursday. Possibly, Spears sat out for rest purposes, but he's also been sidelined since Week 7 due to a hamstring issue. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update after Friday's practice. Tony Pollard (foot) hasn't practiced this week, so the Titans could be extremely shorthanded. Julius Chestnut could become the lead back this weekend if both backs sit out. There would be some streaming appeal if Chestnut becomes the lead back.

Tyjae Spears Limited As Week 9 Prep Begins

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was a limited participant during practice on Wednesday. The 23-year-old has missed two consecutive games, but it looks like he's getting closer to returning for Week 9 against the New England Patriots. Through five games as the backup to Tony Pollard, Spears registered 114 rushing yards, 76 receiving yards, and one touchdown. He's a solid bench stash but can't be trusted in fantasy lineups.

Tyjae Spears Ruled Out For Week 8

Tennessee Titans running back Tyjae Spears (hamstring) was downgraded to out for Week 8. Spears did not suit up last weekend but returned to practice this week in a limited capacity. However, he was unable to progress enough and will now set his sights on returning in Week 9 to face the New England Patriots. Spears has been deployed as the No.2 option out of the backfield this season behind Tony Pollard and has only averaged a mere 22.8 rushing yards per game with just one score. Fantasy managers should expect Pollard to see a heavy dose of work on Sunday afternoon but faces a tough challenge as the Lions have allowed the second-fewest PPR points to opposing running backs this season.
