Gunnar Helm Sees Just One Target in Preseason Opener

Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm hauled in his only target for 16 yards in the team's 19-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers. Helm caught a screen pass on third-and-long and took it for a first down. The bad news was that a split was evident between him and former New York Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger. Helm played 14 of 21 first-team snaps, while Bellinger played 13 of 21. His past relationship with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll is likely to make him a factor in this offense, and we should continue to see a split between the two. The second-year tight end was hoping for an expanded role after Chig Okonkwo joined the Washington Commanders, but that appears not to be the case entering 2026. While some lists have Helm as a strong late-round fantasy draft pick, it may be best to pass on him and look for other options this season.

Gunnar Helm to Lose Snaps to Fellow Tight End?

Tennessee Titans second-year tight end Gunnar Helm has been receiving breakout hype for most of the offseason, but one writer doesn't believe the hype is as real as advertised. Buck Reising believes that former New York Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger will get the bulk of the snaps as a more well-rounded veteran. His experience in offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system will make him a factor in this offense. Helm had 357 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 44 receptions last season, while working behind now-Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo. Helm is ranked as the TE27 in RotoBaller's positional rankings. While there's upside, the second-year tight end appears to be heading toward a timeshare in Tennessee.

Gunnar Helm a Redraft Sleeper to Target Ahead of Potential Year 2 Breakout

A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm recorded 44 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets across 16 games (10 starts) as a rookie. Helm's target volume was limited by the presence of former Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo. However, Okonkwo departed Tennessee for the Washington Commanders in free agency, leaving the door open for Helm to take over as the Titans TE1. Tennessee added wide receivers Carnell Tate and Wan'Dale Robinson this offseason, which could leave fewer targets for the team's incumbent pass-catchers. Still, the Titans offense should be in a better overall spot in 2026 in quarterback Cam Ward's second season as the starter. Helm may not have high-end fantasy TE1 upside, but he has a clear path to streamer value at the very least. As the TE28 by current redraft ADP, Helm should be a priority late-round sleeper target for fantasy managers.

Robert Saleh Likes What he's Seen From Gunnar Helm

Tennessee Titans new head coach Robert Saleh has liked what he's seen from second-year tight end Gunnar Helm this offseason, according to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com. "Gunnar looks good, man," Saleh said. "He looks like a legit dude - from what he was a year ago to what he is now, especially physically. Again, once pads come on, we'll be able to decide all that, but like all these guys, hopefully they take a big jump and find a way to grab the bull by the horns and take advantage of their opps." The 23-year-old former fourth-rounder last year out of the University of Texas is determined to improve on his rookie-year numbers of 44 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets in 16 games (10 starts). He ranked fourth on the team in catches with 44, which set a franchise record for rookie TEs, and he ranked fourth on the team in receiving yards. Helm has focused on improving his pad level, his second-level blocking, and his diet, and he was impressive during offseason OTAs and minicamp. With Chig Okonkwo now in Washington, Helm could be primed for a Year 2 breakout in offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's scheme. Fantasy managers should target Helm as a low-end TE2 with upside for more.

Gunnar Helm a Priority Redraft Sleeper Target Entering 2026

A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm hauled in 44 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets across 16 games as a rookie. While Helm's numbers don't leap off the page, he compiled them while primarily playing behind tight end Chig Okonkwo. Okonkwo has departed Tennessee for the Washington Commanders in free agency, leaving Helm atop the Titans tight end depth chart heading into 2026. With a new play-caller in place in Brian Daboll and quarterback Cam Ward entering his second season, Tennessee should also field a more productive pass game overall this year. Helm may not have elite fantasy upside, but he could easily emerge as a steady contributor and a trusted target for Ward. As the 26th tight end off the board by current redraft ADP, Helm profiles as a priority sleeper target for fantasy managers entering 2026.

Gunnar Helm a Prime Dynasty Buy-Low Candidate Ahead of Potential Breakout

A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm recorded 44 receptions for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets across 16 games as a rookie. Given where he was drafted and the underwhelming offensive environment around him in Tennessee, Helm's production was an encouraging sign for dynasty managers. He also spent the entire season splitting playing time with fellow Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo, who signed with the Washington Commanders in free agency earlier this spring. While Tennessee backfilled its tight end room by signing veterans Daniel Bellinger and Kylen Granson, Helm now profiles as his team's clear TE1. He should also be playing in a more productive Titans offense in quarterback Cam Ward's second NFL season and the team's first under the command of new play-caller Brian Daboll. In dynasty formats, Helm profiles as a clear buy-low candidate ahead of what could be a breakout year.

Gunnar Helm a Dynasty Sleeper with Room to Grow

Easily overlooked behind some of the instant difference-makers at the top of the class, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm was one of six rookies at the position to finish 2025 with more than 40 receptions. He now has a clear path to the starting job in 2026, and drastic improvements are expected for a Tennessee offense that finished in the bottom three of passing yards, rushing yards, and points per game in year one of the Cam Ward era. After leading the team in receptions and yards in 2025, tight end Chig Okonkwo has departed in free agency, leaving Helm with plenty of room to grow under new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. And with Wan'Dale Robinson and fourth overall pick Carnell Tate now forming a respectable trio of wide receivers with Calvin Ridley, the Titans should easily exceed the league-worst 1.9 red zone opportunities per game that stifled the fantasy output of the entire offense in 2025. At RotoBaller's dynasty TE27, Helm is still underappreciated, creating a low-cost buying opportunity for a player who has already shown flashes in a situation that realistically has only one direction to trend.

Gunnar Helm a Clear Breakout Candidate Despite Crowded Offense?

Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm represents an intriguing buy-low option ahead of a potential Year 2 breakout in 2026. Despite missing one game and playing behind Chig Okonkwo last year, Helm managed to catch 44 passes for 357 yards and two touchdowns. Even though he was a rookie and No. 2 on the depth chart, he finished as the overall TE31 in PPR leagues. The Texas product was trending up to end the season, and his dynasty outlook got a major boost as the Titans let Okonkwo depart in free agency. Now, Helm is the clear-cut No. 1 tight end in a Titans offense that could be trending upward. Quarterback Cameron Ward is certainly still developing, but we'd expect him to make a significant leap in his second season. And the state of the offense as a whole is in a very good place with players like Tony Pollard, Wan'Dale Robinson, and Carnell Tate. There are a lot of mouths to feed in the passing game, but the fact that Helm essentially has the tight end position all to himself is a very encouraging sign, especially in an offense led by Brian Daboll. Under the guidance of Daboll, Giants tight end Theo Johnson jumped from TE37 as a rookie to TE18 in his second season. Don't be surprised if Helm follows a similar trajectory. He currently ranks as the TE27 in RotoBaller's dynasty fantasy football rankings, but there is clear top-15 upside here. Dynasty managers would be wise to trade for Helm before the buy-low window closes.

Gunnar Helm Poised for Expanded Role in 2026

A fourth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm worked his way into a regular role in his team's offense as a rookie. Across 16 games, the 23-year-old recorded 44 receptions for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets. Helm split playing time with veteran tight end Chig Okonkwo, which limited the production upside for both players. However, Okonkwo signed with the Washington Commanders in free agency, opening the door for Helm to emerge as the Titans' clear lead tight end. While Tennessee signed wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson over the offseason, the Titans do not have any other clear high-volume target-earners standing in Helm's way. Fantasy managers in dynasty leagues may want to consider buying low on Helm ahead of a potential 2026 breakout.

Gunnar Helm Appears Well-Positioned for 2026 Breakout

A fourth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Tennessee Titans tight end Gunnar Helm recorded 44 receptions for 357 yards and two touchdowns on 55 targets. While the 23-year-old's numbers may not leap off the page, he established himself as a relatively steady contributor in a Titans offense that was starved for playmakers. Heading into 2026, Helm looks like the clear lead tight end in Tennessee after the team's decision to let former tight end Chig Okonkwo walk in free agency. In 2025, Helm and Okonkwo combined for 100 receptions, 917 receiving yards, and six touchdowns on 134 targets. While Helm will not absorb all of Okonkwo's production, he has a clear pathway to fantasy upside. In dynasty formats, fantasy managers may want to consider buying low on Helm ahead of the 2026 season.
