Jordan Elliott News
The San Francisco 49ers agreed to terms with Cleveland Browns free-agent defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on Tuesday on a two-year, $10 million deal, according to a source. The Browns took Elliott in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft and he recorded a total of 98 tackles (49 solo), five sacks, eight tackles for loss, 10 QB hits and four passes defended in 66 games (35 starts) in his first four years in the league. The 26-year-old emerged as a starter for the Browns' defensive line in the last two seasons and started 31 of a possible 34 contests. Elliott hasn't been particularly effective in his four total seasons in the NFL, although he could be asked to help pick up the slack on the interior of the Niners' defensive line with Arik Armstead expected to be cut.
Cleveland Browns third-year defensive tackle Jordan Elliott has been standing out at offseason workouts, and if he keeps it up, he could start inside next to fourth-round rookie Perrion Winfrey. "The guy I've been most pleased with this offseason has been Jordan Elliott," defensive line coach Chris Kiffin said. "Coming in, not just saying it, he's bigger, faster, stronger. He put in the work from the time the season was over." Kiffin also expects second-year defensive lineman Tommy Togiai to get more playing time this year. In his second NFL season in 2021, Elliott had 26 tackles (10 solo), four QB hits, half a sack and one pass defensed in 16 games (three starts) for the Browns.
The Cleveland Browns have selected Missouri defensive end Jordan Elliott with the No. 88 pick during the third round. Cleveland already has some talent on the defensive line, but Elliott adds great depth. He is very active and has quick hands, but isn't the best athlete on the field. Elliott finished with 44 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks through 12 games in 2019. He most likely won't start right away in Cleveland, but he adds great depth and could be someone who develops and starts in the future.
