Texans
The Houston Texans signed free-agent pass-rusher Jacob Martin to an undisclosed one-year deal last week, according to a source. Martin played on the edge for the Texans from 2019 to 2021 before landing with the New York Jets and Denver Broncos last year. The 27-year-old linebacker recorded only 14 tackles (seven solo), 2.5 sacks, five QB hits and a forced fumble in 13 combined games (zero starts) in New York and Denver in 2022. The former sixth-round pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2018 will return to Houston to give them pass-rushing depth. In his five years in the NFL to this point, Martin has 78 total tackles (45 solo), 16 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 29 QB hits, four passes defensed, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 74 games played (15 starts).

Jacob Martin Signs With Texans
The Houston Texans have reached an agreement with free-agent linebacker Jacob Martin on a one-year deal. The two sides have agreed on a reunion after Martin spent 2019-2021 with the Texans. He left and split time with the Denver Broncos and New York Jets last season. Martin didn't have much success elsewhere, so he'll join the Texans defense as additional depth. Martin has 78 tackles, 29 quarterback hits, and 16 sacks through five seasons in the league. He's expected to be a situational pass rusher for DeMeco Ryans defense.

Broncos Acquire Pass-Rusher Jacob Martin
The Denver Broncos acquired pass-rusher Jacob Martin and a fifth-round pick in 2024 from the New York Jets on Tuesday in exchange for a fourth-rounder in 2024, according to a source. Martin is one of several players that is expected to fill the void left by outside linebacker Bradley Chubb, who was traded to the Miami Dolphins at Tuesday's deadline. The 26-year-old should see a significant role on Denver's defensive line right away, at least until Randy Gregory and Baron Browning are able to return from injuries. Martin, a former sixth-rounder by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018 out of Temple, had just eight tackles (three solo), 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in eight games with the Jets this year before the trade. He has 15 career sacks in five NFL seasons.

Jets Sign Jacob Martin To Three-Year Contract
The New York Jets signed defensive end Jacob Martin to a three-year, $13.5 million contract on Thursday. The deal includes six million guaranteed. The 26-year-old is a solid addition and should bolster the Jets pass rush in 2022. Last season, Martin started in 14 of 17 games for the Texans and racked up 23 tackles, four sacks, and two forced fumbles. This offseason, the Jets have been active in free agency and will look to add more pieces to shore up the defense.

Jacob Martin Going On COVID-19 List
Houston Texans linebacker Jacob Martin is going on the Reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive, according to a source informed of the situation. Per the league's COVID-19 protocol, contact tracing will begin immediately to determine if Martin had any high-risk close contacts. Martin will not be able to play in the Week 9 game against the Jaguars. If he had any high-risk close contacts, they might also be in danger of sitting out this Sunday's game against Jacksonville. Stay tuned for more updates on Houston's developing COVID-19 situation this week.
