Cole Strange Returns To Patriots Practice

New England Patriots offensive guard Cole Strange (knee) returned to practice on Wednesday for the first time during the regular season. The 2022 first-round pick out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has been sidelined all year due to a torn patellar tendon. Although he has not lived up to his draft capital, he could provide a boost for a struggling offensive line when he returns. It remains to be seen if he has a shot to play this week against the Miami Dolphins, but the organization could decide to ramp him up slowly. Strange has played in just 27 games since entering the NFL, so there is still time for him to develop and be a key piece of the Drake Maye era in New England.

Cole Strange Expected To Miss Start Of The Season

New England Patriots starting offensive guard Cole Strange (knee), who is still dealing with a significant knee injury that he suffered late last year, is expected to miss the start of the 2024 regular season and may be out until the middle of 2024, according to sources. Strange has started every game he's played in New England since he was the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Chattanooga, so it would be a pretty big loss for New England's offensive line in new head coach Jerod Mayo's first year at the helm. The 25-year-old initially injured his knee in Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs and is currently being labeled as month-to-month by the organization.

Cole Strange "Month-To-Month" With Knee Injury

New England Patriots guard Cole Strange (knee) is considered "month-to-month" with a knee injury, according to head coach Jerod Mayo. The 2022 first-round pick out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga injured his left knee in the Week 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and was placed on season-ending Injured Reserve. Strange has made 27 starts in his first two seasons with the organization, and his recovery from the injury will be key as the team breaks in rookie quarterback Drake Maye. With the season set to kick off in roughly 15 weeks, there will be further updates on his status as Week 1 approaches.

Cole Strange Won't Return Versus Chiefs

New England Patriots left guard Cole Strange (knee) exited during the first half of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He was quickly ruled out and will be replaced by Atonio Mafi. This downgrade in the trenches could have negative implications for Bailey Zappe and Ezekiel Elliott against a ferocious Chiefs defensive line led by Chris Jones.

Patriots Sign First-Rounder Cole Strange

The New England Patriots agreed to terms on a four-year rookie deal with first-round offensive lineman Cole Strange on Wednesday, according to a source. Even though he was the 29th overall pick at the end of the first round, Strange was still a bit of a surprise at that stage out of small-school Tennessee-Chattanooga. The 23-year-old is athletic and toolsy, though, and he could see starts at left guard in his rookie season. The Patriots are hoping that the 6-foot-5, 307-pounder will help in both the running game and for second-year quarterback Mac Jones' protection.

Patriots Take Offensive Guard Cole Strange In The First Round

The New England Patriots selected Tennessee-Chattanooga offensive guard Cole Strange with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday night. It might be a bit of a reach for Strange at the tail end of the first round, but that shouldn't come as too big of a surprise from head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Strange's biggest challenge might just be the jump in competition level. The 23-year-old is very athletic for his position after running a 5.03-second 40-yard dash at the combine, and he stands at 6-foot-5, 307 pounds. Strange doesn't project to be an elite player in the NFL, but the Patriots must've like his overall athleticism after he played tight end and linebacker in high school.
