Derius Davis Could Have A Role On Wild-Card Weekend
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Derius Davis could find himself with an expanded role in a Wild Card Round matchup against the Houston Texans on Saturday. Davis went on a solid hot streak near the end of the season, scoring touchdowns in Weeks 16 and 17. With Joshua Palmer (foot) ruled out and Quentin Johnston (thigh/illness) questionable, Davis could be needed to work alongside Ladd McConkey and D.J. Chark. Davis hasn't seen more than 37% of the team's offensive snaps in any game this season, and he averaged somewhere around 16%, so even with the injuries ahead of him, he shouldn't be expected to take on an enormous role. Still, he could be a value pick in playoff fantasy contests who happens to find himself in the end zone.

Davis has four receptions for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns over his last two games. He'll look to extend his touchdown-streak against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18. The 24-year-old normally isn't much of an option, but could see more targets with Joshua Palmer (foot) sidelined. Despite that, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston remain ahead of Davis on the pecking order. Davis isn't anything more than a touchdown-dependent option for Week 18.

Davis also added one rushing attempt, but ended up losing three yards on the try. He's an exciting role player in the Bolts offense, but despite the two touchdown-scoring games in a row, he's unlikely to be consistent enough to provide fantasy value in leagues that continue for another week.

In total, he lost three yards on the ground with his one rush but gained 31 yards through the air with his two catches. Davis was an important part of the Chargers win but is unlikely to develop much fantasy value for the remainder of the season.
Derius Davis Makes A Huge Play In Preseason Finale
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Derius Davis touched the ball once in the Chargers preseason finale, but he made it count. Davis took the ball up the sideline for a 70-yard touchdown run, breaking tackles and avoiding defenders along the way. It was an impressive run for the former fourth round pick, but he appears to be headed for a special teams role as a returner who may occasionally fill in on offense.
The Los Angeles Chargers selected Texas Christian University wide receiver Derius Davis with the 125th pick of the fourth round in the 2023 NFL Draft. Davis joins college teammate Quentin Johnston in the Justin Herbert offense. Davis shouldn't be expected to produce much in a crowded Chargers' wide receiver room with Johnston, Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, and Joshua Palmer. Ultimately, he projects more as a special teamer than a full-fledged volume wideout, so he won't be a popular pick in 2023 rookie dynasty drafts. The 5'8" wideout posted just 1,483 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in five seasons at TCU.
