Free-agent defensive tackle Teair Tart is signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, according to Adam Schefter. The veteran lineman was recently released by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday and has already found a new team in just a couple of days. Tart spent most of last season with the Tennessee Titans and played a couple of games with the Houston Texans. In 13 appearances, he collected 24 combined tackles (17 solo), 1.0 sack, and eight tackles for loss. The Chargers needed to add depth to their defensive line, so Tart will likely be a rotational type of player if he makes the team.

The 27-year-old began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent out of Florida International in 2020 with the Titans. He spent the first three years of his NFL career in Tennessee and has totaled just 79 tackles (49 solo), 2.5 sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, one interception, seven passes defended and a fumble recovery in 47 games (36 starts) over four seasons. If Tart makes the Dolphins roster in 2024 out of training camp, he'll serve as interior defensive line depth.

The Bengals tried to claim Tart when he was waived by Tennessee last year. He's a logical pickup after former defensive tackle DJ Reader signed with the Detroit Lions in free agency on Thursday.
