Danny Pinter News
The Indianapolis Colts re-signed center Danny Pinter (ankle) to an undisclosed one-year deal on Tuesday, according to a source. The Colts decided to bring Pinter back in 2024 despite the fact that he missed all of the 2023 campaign due to broken ankle that he suffered against the Philadelphia Eagles in the preseason. The 27-year-old was drafted by the Colts in the fifth round (149th overall) in 2020 out of Ball State. In his first four seasons, Pinter has started just seven of the 46 games that he's appeared in. The Indiana native should come to training camp this summer with a clean bill of health after undergoing surgery as he looks to earn a bigger role on the Colts' offensive line. Most likely, Pinter will open the year as a backup, with the Colts returning all seven players who started at least one game in 2023.
Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Danny Pinter wants to take over the right guard spot this year. "That's what you work for, and that's what you want in this league. I've just got to earn it," Pinter said. The Colts have a hole to fill at right guard after Mark Glowinski and Chris Reed left in free agency. Pinter, a third-year professional who played mostly tackle in college and who was drafted as a backup center, wants the job. The fifth-round pick out of Ball State in 2020 has made only four starts in his career, and he's never started at right guard in his football career. The Colts have raved about Pinter's intelligence and are confident that he can fill the void. On the other side, Matt Pryor is the team's left tackle and will get a long look at the position heading into training camp.
Indianapolis Colts rookie offensive guard Danny Pinter is unlikely to start in his rookie season, barring an injury to the offensive line. It's unrealistic that he'd push right guard Mark Glowinski in this abbreviated offseason on top of the fact that Pinter was a right tackle in college. The Colts have talked about Pinter potentially being a center in the NFL, so he could be a top backup at the three interior spots initially.
