Ethan Pocic News
The Cleveland Browns re-signed center Ethan Pocic to an undisclosed three-year deal on Monday, according to a source. Pocic was originally a second-round selection by the Seattle Seahawks in 2017. He spent the first five years of his NFL career in Seattle before joining the Browns in 2022, where he started 13 games for the team. The 27-year-old became Cleveland's starter when Nick Harris suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason. With Harris coming back from injury in 2023, Pocic will have to battle to keep the starting gig in training camp this summer.
Cleveland Browns impending free-agent center Ethan Pocic, the No. 9 center in the league according to Pro Football Focus, played so well last year that he might have priced himself off the team's roster. According to Spotrac, his market will be around $7.2 million per year. The Browns also feel good about 2020 fifth-rounder Nick Harris, who is coming off a season-ending injury that he suffered in the preseason opener. Harris is on track to start the season on time, and the Browns still believe in him as a starter, so he could take over if Pocic signs elsewhere in free agency. Pocic missed four games with a knee injury but played great when he was on the field in 13 regular season games.
The Seattle Seahawks re-signed interior offensive lineman Ethan Pocic to a one-year, $3 million deal on Thursday, according to a source. The team's starting center will return. The 25-year-old started 14 games last year and found a home at center after playing both guard positions over his first three seasons in the league. Pocic was ranked 16th last season in pass-block win rate at his position. The second-round pick in 2017 has made 30 starts in four NFL seasons. Seattle also traded for guard Gabe Jackson, which should make quarterback Russell Wilson happy about his protection heading into 2021. Left tackle Duane Brown, right tackle Brandon Shell and right guard Damien Lewis will all return.
