Patrick Queen News
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen, who didn't have his fifth-year option picked up by the deadline on Monday, is a trade candidate this offseason. Queen was a disappointment his first two years in the NFL after Baltimore took him 28th overall in 2020. But last year he rebounded with career-highs in tackles (117), solo tackles (79), sacks (five) and interceptions (two) while also recording nine tackles for loss, 14 QB hits, six passes defensed, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 starts. The 23-year-old has also started every game in the last three seasons, so if he has another good year for Baltimore in 2023, he could stick around beyond this year. If Queen moves on, this year's third-rounder Trenton Simpson could eventually be Queen's replacement.
Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen could be a potential trade candidate, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec. It might be insane to think that the Ravens would trade the former first round pick. However, the Ravens have been dancing around the idea of picking up Queen's fifth-year option. The stud linebacker is going to need an extension soon, but are the Ravens willing to give it to him? They recently signed Roquan Smith to a huge extension. It'll be interesting to see if the organization is willing to give two linebacker hefty extensions. It's also worth noting that the Ravens selected Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson in the third round of this year's draft. The addition of Simpson might be enough to make Queen expendable. For now, the Ravens will attempt to use all three linebacker on their defense, which could make for a dangerous unit.
Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Patrick Queen, who fell to the Ravens at 28th overall in the first round of the draft, has the instincts and athleticism to start in Week 1. It's unknown if Queen will play on the weak side or in the middle, but either way, he should be starting right away in his rookie season for an already strong Ravens Defense. He has the burst to close running lanes quickly and is also adequate dropping into coverage. Queen has tons of defensive upside, but even if he doesn't become the next Ray Lewis, he should make a case for being owned in deeper IDP leagues immediately.
