Jalen Ramsey News
The Miami Dolphins acquired Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday in exchange for a third-round pick (No. 77) in 2023 and tight end Hunter Long. The trade will be officially processed on Wednesday when the new league year begins. The Rams are moving on from another player as they shed salary heading into the 2023 season. The 28-year-old Ramsey had one of his best seasons for the Rams in 2022 despite having surgery on his left shoulder last offseason. Ramsey has had surgeries on both shoulders the last two years, but he hasn't missed any games and remains one of the best shutdown corners in the NFL. Miami's secondary is now very strong with Ramsey, Xavien Howard and Jevon Holland.
The Los Angeles Rams remain tight-lipped on the trade availability of cornerback Jalen Ramsey, but there's a rumor picking up steam around league circles that the Dallas Cowboys would be a good fit for his services. Pairing Ramsey with cornerback Trevon Diggs would give Dallas one of the best cornerback duos in the NFL. Dallas' defense was strong in 2022, but their secondary was their weakness, so acquiring Ramsey would address that. The 28-year-old had surgery on his right shoulder in the offseason after repairing his left shoulder the previous offseason. He's still one of the best lockdown corners in the league, and he had a career-high 88 tackles (64 solo), four tackles for loss, two sacks, a career-high-tying four interceptions, 18 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 17 starts in 2022.
Los Angeles Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey is reportedly on the trade block this offseason. The six-time Pro Bowl corner says he wants a new contract if he does get traded. Ramsey currently has three years left on a contract he signed in 2020. A deal that makes him the second-highest paid defensive back in the league. However, Ramsey is seeking a new deal that would make him the highest-paid in the NFL. There is no doubt that the Rams need to trade Ramsey in order to save cap space. Although, it's going to be more difficult to find a trade partner with Ramsey demanding a new deal before he has even been traded. Regardless, Ramsey is a tremendous player and there should be some organizations that are willing to pay him.
