Travis Homer Climbing to Second Spot on Depth Chart

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer is expected to operate as the backup to Kyle Monangai after the team ruled out D'Andre Swift (groin) and Roschon Johnson (back). Homer spent the first six weeks of the season on injured reserve, and he has not yet registered an offensive snap in his two games since returning. He has played exclusively on special teams so far, but that should change this week. Not only will he handle some offensive snaps, but he'll likely see at least a handful of touches as the Bears look to take some of the workload off Monangai. It's unlikely we'll see Homer have fantasy relevance this week, but we'll certainly still hear his name called from time to time.

Travis Homer In Line for Backup Duties For Week 9

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer is expected to see more snaps behind rookie Kyle Monangai in Week 9 with starter D'Andre Swift (groin) sidelined. Homer made his season debut in Week 7 after opening the season on injured reserve due to a calf injury. The 27-year-old has yet to see a snap on offense so far in two games, playing exclusively on special teams. That figures to change in Week 9 against the Bengals, with Homer likely mixing in for Monangai some and contributing on pass downs as a receiver and pass protector. Homer may have appeal in deeper PPR leagues, but he's best left on the waiver wire for Week 9 in most formats.

Travis Homer Active for Season Debut Against Saints

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (calf) is officially active for Sunday's Week 7 contest against the New Orleans Saints. He had been listed as questionable but was expected to play after being a full participant in practice all week long. The veteran running back is making his season debut this week, but he'll likely be relegated to a role on special teams. After all, D'Andre Swift has a firm hold on the lead-back role while Kyle Monangai and Roschon Johnson are steady depth options. Fantasy managers should leave Homer on waivers in all formats.

Travis Homer Activated From Injured Reserve

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (calf) was activated off injured reserve on Saturday. Homer missed the first five games of the season and is now ready to make his season debut on Sunday in New Orleans. Starter D'Andre Swift was limited in practice this week with a groin injury, potentially opening up opportunities for Homer, rookie Kyle Monangai, and Roschon Johnson. Homer has primarily been a special teamer for his career and shouldn't be on fantasy radars.

Travis Homer Placed on Injured Reserve with Return Designation

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (calf) has been placed on injured reserve with a return designation, per an announcement from the team. The return designation means Homer must miss the first four games of the season, but will have a chance to play in 2025. With or without Homer, the Bears are thin at running back behind D'Andre Swift. Chicago's top RB2 candidates, Roschon Johnson (foot) and Kyle Monangai (undisclosed), are both dealing with injuries of their own. The Bears are a logical candidate to bring in some help at the running back position before the regular season begins. If they do not, Swift could be in line for a heavy workload and may be a value for fantasy managers in the middle rounds of drafts.

Travis Homer Suffers Calf Injury

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (calf) suffered a calf injury that forced him to leave Sunday's preseason game against the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin. Homer had two carries for six yards and two catches for 15 yards before getting hurt. The 27-year-old is entering his seventh NFL season and has been with Chicago since 2023. In 10 games in 2024, Homer earned just nine total touches. If he is forced to miss time, seventh-round rookie Kyle Monangai's path to both a roster spot and playing time may be more secure.

Travis Homer Re-Signs With Bears

Free-agent running back Travis Homer re-signed with the Chicago Bears on Monday on a one-year, $2 million deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Homer will be back for a third year in the Windy City and is currently the No. 3 behind D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson. The 26-year-old former sixth-round selection (204th overall) by the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 out of the University of Miami (FL) saw a grand total of six rushing attempts for 23 yards while catching three of four targets for 11 yards in 26 games (no starts) over the last two years in Chicago, so he hasn't been a very big part of the offense. A hamstring injury kept him sidelined for the final three games in 2024, but he should be good to go for training camp this summer. Homer will once again be nowhere near the fantasy radar for the Bears heading into 2025 drafts.

Travis Homer, Teven Jenkins Won't Play In Season Finale

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (hamstring) and left guard Teven Jenkins (calf) are inactive for Sunday's Week 18 contest against the Green Bay Packers. Both players had been listed as questionable. Homer has operated as the Bears' No. 3 running back for most of this season, amassing just nine touches for 34 yards through 10 games. He was far more involved on special teams than on offense in 2024, leaving most of the backfield work to D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson. Meanwhile, Jenkins is headed for his third absence of the year, including his second in a row. He'll be replaced by Jake Curhan at left guard for Sunday's season finale.

Bears Rule Out Travis Homer

The Chicago Bears ruled out running back Travis Homer (hamstring) for the Week 18 regular season finale on Sunday at Lambeau Field against the division-rival Green Bay Packers. It doesn't come as much of a surprise since Homer has been sidelined with his hamstring injury since Week 15. When healthy, the 26-year-old was buried on Chicago's RB depth chart this year in a bad offense behind both D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson. That limited role afforded him just six rushing attempts for 23 yards while also catching three passes for 11 yards. Homer mainly contributed on special teams for Chicago in his second year with the team. The former sixth-round selection by the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 out of Miami didn't see a single carry and failed to catch his only target in 16 games with the Bears in 2023. Homer will become an unrestricted free agent in March and will look for a bigger role elsewhere.

Travis Homer Ruled Out For Thursday Night Football Against Seattle

Chicago Bears running back Travis Homer (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Homer will miss his second consecutive game after injuring his practice in last Friday's practice, missing the Week 16 game versus the Detroit Lions. The 26-year-old did not practice this week and was eventually ruled out. Homer hasn't had much of a role as Chicago's No. 3 back, with three carries and three catches over his last two games. D'Andre Swift, Roschon Johnson, and Darrynton Evans will lead Chicago's backfield with Homer sidelined. Swift is the only realistic fantasy option this week, while Johnson is more of a deep-league flier in Week 17.
