Taron Johnson Questionable To Return

Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm) is questionable to return to Sunday's contest versus the Cardinals. He has a forearm injury, although there hasn't been much else revealed about his condition. The 28-year-old received a three-year, $31 million contract extension this offseason. Unfortunately, the Bills may be without him for the rest of the contest. The Bills defense has struggled early in Week 1 against Kyler Murray and the Arizona offense, so the team can't afford to lose anyone on that side of the ball. UPDATE: Johnson has been ruled out for the rest of the game.

Taron Johnson Re-Signs With Bills On Three-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills are re-signing cornerback Taron Johnson to a three-year, $31 million deal, confirmed by his agent, Jason Chayut. Johnson earned his first All-Pro nod in 2023 after collecting 98 total tackles (72 solo), one sack, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, and eight passes defended in 17 games. His new deal makes him the highest-paid nickel corner in the NFL. The 2018 fourth-round pick out of Weber State will have to continue to step up in 2024, as the Bills will be without long-time starters in the secondary Tre'Davious White, Jordan Poyer, and Micah Hyde. Johnson was the No. 22 defensive back in IDP scoring last season.

Taron Johnson Ruled Out On Sunday

Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson (head) won't return to Sunday's AFC East matchup against the New York Jets. The 27-year-old, who entered Week 11 with 53 total tackles, the third-most on the team, had two tackles before he was ruled out with a concussion. Buffalo also lost Taylor Rapp (neck) in this one, so the Bills' list of injuries continues to increase as the season progresses. As a result, the Bills defense may have a tougher time slowing down the Eagles' high-powered offense in Week 12.

Bills Defense Secures Taron Johnson On 3-Year Extension

Buffalo Bills cornerback Taron Johnson had a three-year, $24 million contract extension announced Saturday, keeping him with the team through the 2024 year. Johnson has been a key contributor to the Bills defense thus far in '21, combining for 15 tackles, five passes defended, one forced fumble, and one sack. A fourth-round selection by the franchise in '18, Johnson has worked his way up the depth chart to help Buffalo emerge as a stout defensive unit that is perpetually in conversation as an above-average group on a weekly basis. That being said, their Week 5 matchup vs. the Chiefs is likely one to avoid, irrespective of any new contract motivation on Johnson's end.
