Dareke Young Leads Seahawks Receivers In Preseason Opener
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Dareke Young caught three of his four targets for a team-high 44 receiving yards in Saturday's 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. The 2022 draftee's catch and target totals also tied for most on the team. He was also involved in Seattle's longest play of the game. Tucked in close to the Seahawks' line, Young was marked only by a linebacker who he easily outran while crossing over the middle. Once open, Sam Howell fired a dart to Young for a gain of 26 yards. Young showed good hands in the game but he is not a viable fantasy option.
Seattle Seahawks wide receivers Dee Eskridge (ribs) and Dareke Young (abdomen) are both inactive for the Thursday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Eskridge came into the Week 13 game as questionable but was unable to practice either of the last two days. Young was even more unlikely to suit up with a doubtful tag after being limited on Tuesday and Wednesday. In any event, the Seahawks will lack some receiver depth against Dallas behind starters DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Rookie Jake Bobo could see some added opportunities as the No. 4 wideout in a game in which the Seahawks could be forced to the air often. Neither Eskridge nor Young have been fantasy relevant in 2023.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Dareke Young (abdomen) is dealing with an abdominal issue in the aftermath of Week 10's 29-26 win over the Washington Commanders, per Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle. It's a tough break for the 2022 seventh-round pick, who was just making his 2023 season debut after groin surgery during training camp cost him the campaign's first nine weeks. Young wasn't targeted against the Commanders on Sunday, after he managed to catch both of his targets for 24 yards in his rookie year. The severity of the 24-year-old's current injury has not been specified, so it remains to be seen if Young will be able to practice ahead of Week 11's game against the division-rival Los Angeles Rams. Undrafted rookie Jake Bobo would function as Seattle's clear-cut No. 4 wideout if Young heads back to the sidelines next Sunday.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Dareke Young (groin) has been taken off the injury reserve ahead of Sunday's Week 10 matchup against the Washington Commanders. Young has been sidelined since early September due to a groin injury he suffered during training camp. Since then, he underwent surgery and appears to be doing extremely well. Young was able to get in full practice sessions this week and will be available for the game this weekend. He's expected to serve as a depth option, so he probably won't be a viable fantasy option right now.
On Friday night, Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver Dareke Young led the team with three receptions for 43 yards in the final preseason game. Young was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft and is currently fighting for a roster spot. He is an athletic, big-bodied receiver (6-foot-2, 224 pounds) who was used both as a rusher and receiver in college. Even with his unique skill set, the rookie wide receiver still finds himself buried on the depth chart behind D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain, D'Wayne Eskridge and Marquise Goodwin, with no guarantee of making the 53-man roster.
