Raiders Agree To Terms With Jeremy Chinn On Two-Year Deal
The Las Vegas Raiders agreed to terms with free-agent safety Jeremy Chinn on Monday on a two-year deal for over $16 million with over 75 percent of the deal fully guaranteed at signing, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Chinn will head to the AFC West after spending one year with the Washington Commanders in 2024, where he had a career-high 117 tackles (73 solo), a career-high two sacks, seven tackles for loss, an interception, five pass breakups, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 17 regular-season starts. The 27-year-old also had 29 tackles (17 solo) and an interception in three playoffs games in which he played all of the defensive snaps. It's a big pickup for the Raiders secondary, as Chinn has three 100-plus-tackle seasons in his five years in the NFL after the Carolina Panthers made him a second-round pick (64th overall) in 2020 out of Southern Illinois. Chinn will be back on the IDP radar in 2025.
Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Chinn (concussion) is officially active for Week 16 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He had been listed as questionable but was expected to play after logging a full practice on Friday. The 26-year-old has not yet missed a game this season, amassing 84 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.
Washington Commanders safety Jeremy Chinn (head) exited during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. He collided with wide receiver Dyami Brown, and while Brown was quickly cleared to return, Chinn required additional evaluation for a potential concussion. The Saints are officially saying that he's questionable to return. At the time of his departure, he had registered seven tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss. Percy Butler and Jeremy Reaves should earn additional opportunities until the 26-year-old can return to action.
Free-agent safety Jeremy Chinn is expected to sign a one-year deal worth up to $5.1 million with the Washington Commanders, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. The former second-round pick has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Carolina Panthers, where he racked up 324 tackles, four sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 17 passes defended in 54 games. He becomes the fifth defensive player Washington has agreed to terms with over the last two days, joining Dorance Armstrong, Frankie Luvu, Dante Fowler Jr., and Clelin Ferrell. New head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters appear to be committed to improving from last year's defense that ranked dead-last in points per game allowed (30.5).
Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn (quad) was placed on the injured reserve list on Tuesday. The move to IR was not a complete surprise after ESPN insider Adam Schefter said last week that Chinn would miss up to six weeks. The Panthers' safety first suffered the quad injury in the team's Week 6 loss and went into Carolina's Week 7 bye hurt. Chinn is first eligible to come off the IR in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans. But it sounds like he might miss more than that.
Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn (quadriceps) suffered a significant quadriceps injury in the Week 6 loss to the Miami Dolphins that is expected to sideline him for up to six weeks, according to league sources. Chinn doesn't need surgery, but he's also in the last year of his contract in Carolina and is scheduled to be a free agent after this season. The 25-year-old second-year safety/nickel cornerback is a key defensive back for the Panthers, so his injury is a significant loss for Carolina's defense moving forward. Through the team's first six games, Chinn has 23 tackles (15 solo), one sack, two tackles for loss and one pass defensed.
Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn (hamstring) has been activated off the injured reserve. The 24-year-old is expected to be active for the first time since Week 4. His return is a huge boost for this defensive unit heading into a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Before going down, Chinn had 20 tackles, one sack, and two passes defended in four games. The Panthers are hopeful to have both Chinn and defensive back Jaycee Horn (foot) available for this game. Despite that, fantasy managers shouldn't trust the Panthers defense as a streaming option.
Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn (hamstring) exited due to injury early in a Week 4 loss to the Arizona Cardinals and did not return. His absence was felt as the Cardinals scored 23 of their 26 points in the second half. The former second-round NFL Draft selection was replaced by fifth-year pro Sean Chandler. The severity of Chinn's hamstring injury is currently unknown, but the team will surely hope to have him back ahead of a Week 5 showdown with the 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles.
Carolina Panthers rookie safety Jeremy Chinn (knee), defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (ankle), defensive end Marquis Haynes (shoulder), cornerback Donte Jackson (toe) and defensive end Austin Larkin (groin) are questionable for Week 10 against the Buccaneers. Chinn missed Week 9 and the Panthers Defense proceeded to be shredded by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs through the air. The same kind of outcome could take place if Chinn sits out in Week 10 against quarterback Tom Brady and receivers Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown. Chinn is a strong starting option at defensive backs in IDP leagues if he's active, though, as he ranks 13th in fantasy points at the position. You'll want to avoid the Panthers defense as a fantasy unit, however.
Carolina Panthers rookie safety Jeremy Chinn (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Chiefs. Left tackle Russell Okung (calf) is also out this Sunday. Chinn, a second-round pick out of Southern Illinois, has been a weekly IDP starter at the defensive back position in his first year in the NFL. The 22-year-old has stood out in Carolina's young and inexperienced secondary, recording 67 tackles (38 solo), two QB hits, one interception and five passes defensed. Against the high-flying offense of the Chiefs, losing Chinn is bad news. You'll definitely want to avoid the Panthers Defense for this matchup. The absence of Okung is also a downgrade for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
