Brian Thomas Jr. Coming Off the Field in Certain Packages

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has been sharing reps as the No. 3 receiver with Travis Hunter, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com. For most of training camp, when Thomas has been on the field, Hunter has been on the sideline, and vice versa. Additionally, DiRocco reports that although Thomas has been impressive this summer, the Jaguars have given far more reps to Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington, whom they are reluctant to take off the field. At this point, fantasy managers should be concerned that Thomas is going to open the season sharing reps as the Jags' No. 3 receiver. Additionally, although Hunter is expected to play more defense than offense, all signs point to Thomas coming off the field when the Jaguars choose to give Hunter reps at wide receiver. Thomas has fallen to WR33 in RotoBaller's latest fantasy football rankings, making him a fringe WR3/flex in most leagues.

Travis Hunter Listed as Backup WR, Starter at CB

Jacksonville Jaguars two-way player Travis Hunter is listed as the backup wide receiver, but a starting defensive back on the first unofficial depth chart, according to Ryan O'Halloran. The Jags have been shy about saying how they plan to deploy Hunter this upcoming season. According to Michael DiRocco of ESPN, Hunter has taken nearly 100 snaps on defense and 61 on offense during 11-on-11 drills. Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said Hunter won't need to know the entire offensive playbook this year. This offense does have Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington, so having Hunter is just a plus. Hunter is currently ranked as Rotoballer's WR72, but he could be a difference-maker depending on how the Jags use him.

Travis Hunter Making Plays on Both Sides of the Ball

Through the early days of training camp, Jacksonville Jaguars two-way player Travis Hunter has featured primarily with the defense, but he made a number of standout offensive plays during Sunday's practice. The second-year player got open for a pair of deep catches during what has been his most active session of the summer. Not neglecting his defensive responsibilities, Hunter also intercepted backup quarterback Nick Mullens on a day that showcased his truly unique skill set. The second overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft will continue to be one of the most difficult fantasy projections throughout his early career, as the talent is obvious, but there will be no accounting for usage from week to week. Hunter is RotoBaller's WR72 but could prove to be a difference-maker for risk-tolerant drafters.

Travis Hunter Opens Camp by Warming Up with the Offense

The Jacksonville Jaguars have taken to the field for their first practice of training camp, and second-year two-way player Travis Hunter started the day wearing a teal offensive jersey, warming up alongside the other non-special-teams wide receivers before breaking off with the defensive backs for individual drills. Hunter's year two usage, and how he fits into an already crowded receiver room, have been some of the biggest storylines of the Jaguars offseason, and the message sent by the team to open camp offers little clarification. While operating primarily on the offensive side of the ball as a rookie, Hunter caught only 28 passes for 298 yards before an LCL injury ended his season after seven games. Still, he appeared to be on the verge of a breakout, recording his first 100-yard game and catching the first touchdown of his career in the Week 7 contest he left injured. Hunter's upside is undeniable, and with him falling as far in drafts as he has, any usage-related risk is all but removed, making him a player to target in the late rounds as RotoBaller's WR72.

Travis Hunter Runs Routes in Knee-Rehab Footage

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter was shown sprinting and running routes in rehabilitation footage released by the team as he works back from surgery to repair an isolated LCL injury in his right knee. Hunter injured the knee during an Oct. 30 practice and underwent surgery on Nov. 11, ending his rookie season after seven games. Head coach Liam Coen said during June minicamp that Hunter reached 22.6 mph in a rehabilitation sprint, though that speed was recorded on June 9 rather than during training camp. Hunter caught 28 passes for 298 yards and one touchdown while adding 15 tackles and three passes defensed as a rookie. Jacksonville plans to continue using him on both sides of the ball, with general manager James Gladstone saying his cornerback workload should increase. The footage and verified speed mark are positive signs, but workout results do not establish Hunter's training-camp workload or how much offensive work he will retain in 2026. His practice participation and role distribution remain the key fantasy developments to monitor.

Travis Hunter's Dynasty Value Depends on His Offensive Role

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter is one of the hardest players to price in dynasty because his real-life value may not match his fantasy role. His rookie season ended after seven games when an isolated LCL injury in his right knee required surgery. Hunter caught 28 of 45 targets for 298 yards and one touchdown, with eight catches for 101 yards against the Rams accounting for his only clear offensive breakout. Jacksonville still plans to use him both ways, but the expectation entering camp leans toward a full-time defensive role and selective work on offense. That is a problem for fantasy managers. Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Jakobi Meyers already give the Jaguars three established receivers, so Hunter does not need to run a full route tree every week. RotoBaller ranks him 114th overall in dynasty. Managers already holding him should wait for camp usage rather than sell low. Rebuilders can buy only at a price that reflects the route uncertainty. Contenders need a steadier offensive role before paying for the name and draft pedigree.

Travis Hunter Expected to be a Full-Go for Training Camp

Still recovering from the LCL injury that ended his rookie season, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter (knee) was a limited participant during June's minicamp practices, but NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe expects that he will be fully cleared for the start of training camp in late July. Wolfe also believes the second overall pick from the 2025 NFL Draft is "ready to be unleashed", now running over 20 miles per hour, which is faster than he was ever clocked before the injury. Hunter projects to be a full-time starter on defense, with some in the building believing he'll soon be included in discussions of the league's top 10 cornerbacks. Still expected to be used as a two-way player, the team's offensive depth should allow the luxury of making his week-to-week usage at receiver more game-plan-specific, and as such, Hunter is RotoBaller's WR73. While he boasts the upside to make him a potential bargain at ADP, his primary value in 2026 could come in best ball drafts, where he is currently coming off the board in the early-double-digit rounds.

Is Travis Hunter a Player to Target in Dynasty Leagues?

As Jacksonville Jaguars two-way player Travis Hunter continues to work his way back from the LCL tear that ended his rookie season, questions about his usage are not going anywhere. After the Jaguars made him the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, more than 66% of his rookie season snaps came on the offensive side of the ball, with obvious signs of a breakout coming in the Week 7 contest that proved to be his final game of the year, catching eight of 12 targets for 101 yards and his first career touchdown. Heading into his second season, the state of the Jaguars' roster would suggest more of a need for Hunter's service on defense than on offense, and persistent rumors have suggested that he will, in fact, work full time with the defense while mixing in on offense. While Hunter himself has pushed back against this narrative, his dynasty value has taken a serious hit after frequently being selected in the early first round of 2025 rookie drafts. At RotoBaller's WR53, the reality is that Hunter will likely be one of the most frustrating and unpredictable dynasty assets throughout the early stages of his career, but with his cost to acquire depressed so much from even a year ago, he's become a worthwhile trade target. His unique skill set and a Jaguars depth chart that allows for multiple paths to fantasy-relevant injury insurance make Hunter a player whose value could see peaks and valleys not just this season but for the foreseeable future, and the final outing of his rookie season provided enough of a glimpse of his fantasy upside to stay excited about his prospects as an eventual full-time receiver.

Unclear When Travis Hunter Will be a Full-Go

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said that he's "extremely pleased" with where wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter (knee) is at "both mentally and physically" this offseason, according to 1010 XL/92.5 FM. However, Coen also said he doesn't know when Hunter will be "full-go" during offseason workouts after the 23-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner tore the LCL in his knee in late October of his rookie season in 2025. Hunter has "looked good" and has added muscle mass to his body as he prepares for Year 2 in the NFL. Coen said there's "no question he has gotten stronger." The former second overall pick last year out of the University of Colorado is missing out on live reps on the field this offseason, but he's working extremely hard elsewhere, and the Jags plan to continue to use him as a two-way player in 2026. The problem for fantasy managers is that Jacksonville plans to use the two-way star more as a defensive back this year, and with the Jags already stacked at WR with Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Parker Washington, it could be an uphill battle for Hunter to contribute every week as a pass-catcher. Hunter caught 28 of his 45 targets for 298 yards and one touchdown in seven games in 2025, and he has fallen to No. 73 in RotoBaller's WR rankings in redraft formats this year.

Travis Hunter Still "Viewed as a Cornerstone Piece Offensively" in Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter is "still viewed as a cornerstone piece offensively and a dangerous downfield threat," according to Gilberto Manzano of Sports Illustrated. Hunter's rookie year in 2025 was cut short after he suffered a season-ending LCL injury in Week 7. Before the injury, he played 67% of Jacksonville's offensive snaps and 36% of the team's defensive snaps, and the prevailing thought this offseason has been that his usage could shift more towards the defensive side of the ball in 2026. However, Manzano's reporting suggests that Hunter could remain heavily involved in the Jaguars passing game. The 23-year-old recorded 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown on 45 targets last season and had his best game in his final appearance of the year, hauling in eight catches for 101 yards and a score on 14 targets against the Los Angeles Rams. Hunter's fantasy value is difficult to project due to his uncertain role, but he remains a high-upside wide receiver option if he can carve out consistent playing time on offense.
