LeQuint Allen Jr. Looks Primed for a Pass-Catching Role

John Shipley of Sports Illustrated writes that Jacksonville Jaguars second-year running back LeQuint Allen Jr. looks to be primed for a role on passing downs in 2026. It has been hard to really gauge Jacksonville's new-look backfield this offseason since new RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (foot) has missed time due to an injury. One thing is clear, though: Bhayshul Tuten looks much-improved, and he appears to be the favorite to lead the Jags in touches now that Travis Etienne Jr. is with the New Orleans Saints. Allen, 21, was selected with the 236th overall pick in 2025 in the seventh round out of the University of Syracuse. In his rookie campaign, he carried the ball only 23 times for 94 yards and caught 10 of his 11 targets for 54 yards in 17 regular-season games (one start). While Allen should have an expanded pass-catching role in 2026, he'll only be worth rostering in really deep PPR formats unless one of Tuten or Rodriguez misses time with an injury during the regular season. RotoBaller currently has Allen ranked as the No. 80 fantasy RB in redraft leagues.

LeQuint Allen Jr. a Dynasty Dart Throw with a Potential Path to Upside

Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr.'s immediate strength as a pass blocker led to a higher snap count in 2025 than fellow rookie Bhayshul Tuten. While that opportunity translated to only 10 receptions on 11 targets, there is a reasonable expectation that Allen's involvement in the passing game could take the next step forward with the team's top receiving back from 2025, Travis Etienne Jr., departing in free agency. While Tuten has risen to RB23 in RotoBaller's dynasty rankings, Allen remains an afterthought down at RB90. The Jaguars did sign 12th-year veteran Ameer Abdullah to an under-the-radar one-year deal, but with his 16 receptions in 2025 representing the highest total from any running back currently on the roster, Jacksonville's pass-catching role is very much up for grabs. While any true fantasy relevance would be a major projection for the 2025 seventh-rounder, Allen's low cost to acquire makes him an intriguing trade target or dart-throw selection in the later rounds of dynasty startups.

LeQuint Allen Jr. a Steady Dynasty Riser During Quiet Jaguars Offseason

Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. was on the field a surprising amount for a seventh-round rookie, with his superior pass blocking leading to more offensive snaps than his fourth-round teammate Bhayshul Tuten. While his opportunities were still limited, touching the ball only 33 times in year one, the path to a larger workload is there for 2026. With the Jaguars saying goodbye to Travis Etienne Jr. in free agency, the backfield is set to be turned over to the two youngsters and free agent acquisition Chris Rodriguez Jr. Having seen more than 160 targets across his last three seasons in Jacksonville, Etienne's absence creates a major vacuum in the passing game, and while Allen made only 10 catches as a rookie, that's four more than Rodriguez has accumulated in his three-year career. After leaving Syracuse as arguably the most accomplished receiving back in a loaded 2025 draft class, Allen could handle the primary pass-catching duties in what profiles to be a high-powered Liam Coen offense. At RotoBaller's dynasty RB90, he's seen his value steadily rise throughout the offseason, but given the fantasy-friendly opportunity that could be in front of him, it's possible Allen is still being severely undervalued.

Can LeQuint Allen Jr. Survive the NFL Draft to See an Expanded Role in Year 2?

Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. handled only 33 touches as a seventh-round rookie in 2025, but he found the field with regularity for what he offered as a pass protector. Among qualified halfbacks, only Denver's Tyler Badie had a better pass blocking grade according to PFF, and it was actually Allen, and not the more highly touted Bhayshul Tuten, who saw the team's second-most total running back snaps behind the recently departed Travis Etienne Jr. Jacksonville signed Chris Rodriguez Jr. to a two-year, $10 million deal, but he profiles more as a between the tackles plodder whose four targets and three receptions in 2025 both marked career highs. While Rodriguez will have an obvious role on early downs and near the goal line, Etienne's 47 vacated targets will likely be divvied up between Allen and Tuten, and with the former coming into the league with one of the best receiving profiles in a loaded 2025 rookie running back class, it would stand to reason that he can turn the trust he's already earned from his coaches into an expanded role in the passing game. Where things could get interesting is in this week's NFL Draft, where the Jaguars hold 11 picks and could still consider running back a top need. While the position does not profile as a strength of this draft class, Allen's positioning in the room is already tenuous as a late-round pick himself, and any selection at the position could block his path to even the minor breakout some are calling for.

LeQuint Allen Jr. to Get More Involved in Year 2?

Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. is trending up ahead of the 2026 season. Allen remains No. 3 on the depth chart after the Jaguars watched Travis Etienne Jr. depart in free agency, but replaced him with Chris Rodriguez Jr. There's a clear path to meaningful playing time for Allen, who may get on the field even more as Jacksonville's passing-down specialist. Allen was spectacular in pass protection last year, blocking some of the league's most talented pass rushers when he got on the field. He only touched the ball 33 times as a rookie, but he still got on the field for at least 25% of the snaps in more than one-third of the Jaguars' games. It's too early to project his workload for 2026, but we do expect his snap count to increase by a noticeable amount. Depending on just how involved Allen gets, he could even sneak onto the fantasy radar as a low-end RB3/flex in deeper PPR leagues.

Can LeQuint Allen Jr. Emerge as the Primary Receiving Back in Jacksonville?

A seventh-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. did well to carve out any sort of role in his team's offense as a rookie. While Allen Jr. logged only 33 touches across 17 games, he played double-digit offensive snaps in 15 contests and seemingly earned the trust of his coaching staff in a third-down role. Former Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr. recently signed with the New Orleans Saints in free agency, leaving a significant number of backfield touches in Jacksonville up for grabs heading into 2026. The Jaguars have a promising young back in Bhayshul Tuten and also signed former Washington Commanders rusher Chris Rodriguez Jr., both of whom could block off Allen Jr.'s path to early-down work. However, neither Tuten nor Rodriguez Jr. profiles as much of a receiver out of the backfield. Allen Jr. could emerge as Jacksonville's primary receiving back and may be worth rostering in deep dynasty formats heading into 2026.

LeQuint Allen Jr. in Line for Increased Role in 2026?

A seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. established himself as his team's RB3 as a rookie. Allen Jr. played a minimal role on offense, recording 148 scrimmage yards on 33 touches across 17 games played. The 21-year-old's path to playing time was blocked by the Jaguars' strong running back tandem of Travis Etienne Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten. However, Etienne Jr. is set to hit free agency this spring and may not be back in Jacksonville in 2026. Tuten flashed high-end upside in 2025 and would likely take over the Jaguars' RB1 role should Etienne Jr. sign elsewhere in free agency. Still, Allen Jr. could be in line for a significant playing time increase and might establish himself as Jacksonville's primary third-down and receiving back in his second NFL season. In dynasty formats, Allen Jr. might be worth stashing until the backfield picture in Jacksonville becomes clearer.

LeQuint Allen Jr. on the Fantasy Radar for Week 16

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back LeQuint Allen Jr. hasn't played a significant role this season behind Travis Etienne Jr. and fellow rookie Bhayshul Tuten, but he is likely to see an uptick in snaps with Tuten set to miss a few weeks with a finger injury that will require surgery. Allen handled five touches for 16 yards in the Week 15 blowout win over the New York Jets, his most since Week 11. The rookie seventh-rounder will step into the RB2 role behind Etienne and becomes an interesting deep-league option heading into the Week 16 game against the Denver Broncos on the road. His appeal is limited to deep leagues only, but he could have some standalone value with more touches likely coming his way.

LeQuint Allen Jr. Remains Third-String Back

Jacksonville Jaguars running back LeQuint Allen Jr. saw a season-high eight carries during last week's win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The rookie back normally doesn't see much of the field, but got a chance last week. He made the most of it as he rushed for 36 yards on his eight attempts, which is 4.5 yards per carry. It was a decent showing from the rookie back who will now return to his role as the third string back. Both Travis Etienne Jr. and Bhayshul Tuten have been cleared to play ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Unless an injury happens, Allen is going to have a minimal role as the third string back.

LeQuint Allen Jr. Listed As Team's RB3 in Updated Depth Chart

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back LeQuint Allen Jr. enters Week 2 as the team's RB3 on the updated depth chart. In the season-opening win over the Carolina Panthers, Allen logged one carry for seven yards and added one reception for four yards, while Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby dominated the backfield with 83% of the snaps and 21 of the team's 25 rushing attempts. With Bigsby now traded to Philadelphia, the door is open for Allen and fellow rookie Bhayshul Tuten to carve out roles behind Etienne. While Tuten came in with more hype as a prospect, Allen's receiving skills could earn him passing-down work. He'll draw a favorable matchup in Week 2 against the Bengals, who just allowed Browns running back Dylan Sampson to lead his team in receptions. Allen remains unstartable in fantasy for now, but his skill set makes him a name worth monitoring as the Jaguars' backfield evolves.
