Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis (neck) was officially limited on Wednesday's practice report. The 29-year-old missed his first game of the season against the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football after failing to log even a limited session in Week 11. However, he's kicked off Week 12 on the right foot and appears to be progressing through his injury. The 29-year-old likely needs to get in a full practice ahead of the Cowboys' divisional clash against the Washington Commanders this Sunday, but it's good news for the team. Dallas could also have defensive back DaRon Bland (foot) back in action -- who has yet to appear in a game this season -- after he logged his first full practice since Week 6.
The Dallas Cowboys are re-signing cornerback Jourdan Lewis to a one-year, fully guaranteed deal, according to Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team. Lewis played the third-most snaps at cornerback for Dallas last season, behind DaRon Bland and Stephon Gilmore. Over seven seasons with the organization, Lewis has posted 315 tackles, 8.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, nine interceptions, and 36 passes defended in 99 games. With Gilmore likely headed elsewhere in free agency and Trevon Diggs (knee) recovering from a torn ACL, new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer will need Lewis at his best early on in the 2024 season.
Jourdan Lewis To Be Activated From PUP Ahead Of Regular Season
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis (foot) is expected to be activated from the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list and added to the team's 53-man roster ahead of the regular season. Lewis missed the entirety of training camp and preseason action after suffering a Lisfranc injury in late October of last season. Since joining the Cowboys in 2017, Lewis has totaled eight interceptions and 31 passes defended. His role with take a step back this season after the arrival of former All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Dallas is expected to have a high-scoring fantasy defense/special teams unit in 2023 once again.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis (foot) had a game-changing interception late in the Week 7 win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, but he also suffered a season-ending foot injury after tests revealed a Lisfranc injury. Lewis had surgery and will be placed on Injured Reserve. The interception was his first of the year and led to a Cowboys score. The 27-year-old is one of the more experienced slot corners on the team, so this is a blow to Dallas' secondary the rest of the way. With Lewis done for the year, rookie DaRon Bland will likely move into the slot, but Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright could also be asked to step into the slot position.
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis (foot) was injured during Sunday's win over Detroit. Unfortunately, the team believes he suffered a Lisfranc injury, although he'll undergo more tests. The 27-year-old has 26 total tackles this season and has been a critical piece of the Cowboys' defense. However, if Lewis needs surgery, he will be out for a while.
The Dallas Cowboys re-signed cornerback Jourdan Lewis to a three-year deal with a maximum value of $16.5 million with $8 million guaranteed. Lewis has appeared in 61 of 66 possible games during the course of his career, but he's made just 26 starts since entering the league in 2017. Injuries to Chidobe Awuzie and Anthony Brown forced him into the lineup more often last season, as he made 13 starts while recording 59 tackles, two pass breakups and two sacks in 2020. Lewis did the vast majority of his work out of the slot, although he did play the boundary at Michigan, where he was an All-American. He gives the Cowboys some veteran depth in their secondary. Lewis and Brown, combined with Trevon Diggs, gives the Cowboys three experienced starters.
