Josh Hines-Allen Officially Active In Week 5

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (concussion) is officially active for the Week 5 contest on Sunday against the division-rival Indianapolis Colts. In addition to Hines-Allen, safety Darnell Savage (quadriceps) and linebacker Devin Lloyd (knee), who were also listed as questionable to play, are active for the Jaguars defense. Hines-Allen cleared the league's concussion protocol on Saturday and was expected to be active as the team searches for their first win of the season. The 27-year-old's presence will be bad news for a Colts offense that is without both quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) and running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle). Veteran QB Joe Flacco proved last year with the Cleveland Browns that he can still get it done, but Jacksonville's defense could be a sneaky play in deep fantasy leagues this week. Hines-Allen should be started in IDP fantasy formats now that he's officially active.

Josh Hines-Allen Clears Concussion Protocol

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (concussion) has been cleared to play ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Hines-Allen has been cleared from concussion protocols after suffering an injury last week. His status was uncertain heading into the weekend, but it appears he's cleared all the needed steps to return to the field. The former first-round pick has 12 tackles, one sack, and four passes defended across four games this season. His return to the field is great news for this defensive unit.

Josh Hines-Allen Questionable For Week 5

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen (concussion) is listed as questionable for Week 5 against the division-rival Indianapolis Colts. In addition to Hines-Allen, linebackers Yasir Abdullah and Devin Lloyd and safeties Darnell Savage (quadriceps) and Daniel Thomas (hamstring) are questionable. Hines-Allen missed practice on Wednesday but was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday, so he's at least progressing through the league's concussion protocol. He still needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist in order to play on Sunday. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues need to have a backup plan in place in case the 27-year-old pass-rusher doesn't get the green light. The Jags defense/special teams unit hasn't moved the needle in fantasy in 2024, but they could be a streaming option in deeper leagues with running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) out and quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) questionable.

Josh Hines-Allen In Concussion Protocol

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said that linebacker Josh Hines-Allen (concussion) is in the league's concussion protocol after being forced from the Week 4 loss to the division-rival Houston Texans with a head injury. Before getting injured on Sunday in Houston, Hines-Allen had three tackles (two solo). The injury puts the 27-year-old pass-rusher's status for the Week 5 contest against the division-rival Indianapolis Colts firmly in question as the Jaguars seek their first win of 2024. The former seventh overall pick in 2019 out of Kentucky had a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 games for the Jags in 2023 but has only taken an opposing quarterback down one time through the first four weeks of 2024. Fantasy managers in IDP formats will need to have a backup plan in place this week in case Hines-Allen isn't cleared for Week 5.

Josh Hines-Allen Concussed, Won't Return In Week 4

Jacksonville Jaguars pass-rusher Josh Hines-Allen (head) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans. He was quickly evaluated and ultimately diagnosed with a concussion. As a result, he has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest. At the time of his departure, he had registered three tackles, including two quarterback hits. We will likely get an update on his status in the aftermath of the game, but Hines-Allen should be considered a longshot to play in Week 5 versus the Indianapolis Colts given the typical recovery time for a concussion in the NFL. Rookie Myles Cole could see more snaps until Hines-Allen is able to return to the mix.

Josh Hines-Allen Evaluated For Concussion Sunday

Jacksonville Jaguars pass-rusher Josh Hines-Allen (head) exited during the second half of Sunday's game against the Houston Texans and is being evaluated for a concussion. At the time of his departure, he had registered three tackles, including two quarterback hits. Hines-Allen is merely being evaluated right now, but if he were to officially enter concussion protocol, he'd be a longshot to suit up in Week 5 versus the Indianapolis Colts. Rookie Myles Cole could see more snaps until Hines-Allen is able to return.

Jaguars, Josh Allen Agree On Five-Year Extension

The Jacksonville Jaguars and pass-rusher Josh Allen agreed to a five-year, $150 million contract extension on Wednesday, according to a source. Allen is set to earn $88 million guaranteed as part of the deal. The Jaguars had placed the franchise tag on Allen before the start of free agency but now have locked the rising star into a long-term deal. The 26-year-old two-time Pro Bowler set a franchise record in 2023 by recording 17.5 sacks while adding 66 tackles (43 solo), 17 tackles for loss, 33 QB hits, one interception and two forced fumbles in 17 starts. The former seventh overall pick in 2019 out of Kentucky is one of the best young pass-rushers in the NFL and will be highly coveted on draft day in IDP fantasy formats at defensive line.

Jaguars To Use Franchise Tag On Josh Allen

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to place the franchise tag on pass-rusher Josh Allen on Tuesday by the deadline, according to a source. The team has expressed confidence in getting a long-term deal done with Allen by the deadline in mid-July, but if they can't, he'll be on the books for 2024 at $24 million. The 26-year-old has quickly become one of the best pass-rushers in football. Since being selected with the seventh overall pick in 2019 out of Kentucky, he has accumulated 45 sacks, 251 tackles (162 solo), 53 tackles for loss, 103 QB hits, two interceptions, eight passes defensed, nine forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown) in five seasons. Allen was the No. 5 defensive lineman in IDP fantasy leagues in 2023 with a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 starts.

Jaguars Plan On Retaining Josh Allen

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said that pass-rusher Josh Allen, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this March after posting 17.5 sacks (third in the NFL) in 2023, will be back in 2024. "Josh Allen is going to be a Jaguar next year," Baalke said. Negotiations between the two sides haven't started yet, but it's definitive Allen isn't going anywhere, and the franchise tag is available if the Jaguars need to use it. The former No. 7 overall pick now has 45 sacks in 74 career games for Jacksonville and has become of the best pass-rushers in the league, so it makes sense why the Jags are so adamant about not letting him hit the open market. The two-time Pro Bowler will most likely become one of the highest-paid pass-rushers in the NFL and will also be a high-end defensive lineman in IDP leagues in 2024.

Josh Allen Likely To Play Sunday For Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said he expects linebacker Josh Allen (shoulder) has progressed well enough to likely play in Week 3 on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Allen suffered a shoulder injury in the Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs but was able to put in some limited practices so far this week. The Jaguars have gotten very little out of their pass rush through the first two weeks of the 2023 season, but Allen has been doing his part, producing 11 tackles (eight solo), three tackles for loss, three QB hits and three sacks in games against the Indianapolis Colts and Chiefs. The 26-year-old will be in play as a starting lineup option in IDP fantasy leagues this weekend if he's active on Sunday.
