The Jacksonville Jaguars signed linebacker Foye Oluokun to a four-year, $45 million contract extension on Friday. The deal reportedly includes $22 million guaranteed at signing. The top fantasy linebacker in IDP leagues last year will now stick around in Jacksonville long term. The Atlanta Falcons took the 28-year-old in the sixth round (200th overall) in 2018 out of Yale. He spent the first four seasons of his NFL career in Atlanta before spending the last two years in Jacksonville. In the last three seasons combined, Oluokun has a whopping 341 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, 24 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, four interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 17 passes defended, four forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries in 51 starts. Given his immense production in recent years, Oluokun should be one of the first linebackers off the board in IDP drafts this fall.
Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun has a favorable matchup against the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. Opposing IDP linebackers score more points against the Browns than against two-thirds of the other offenses, as the Browns rush the ball often. Rams linebacker Ernest Jones, who, like Oluokun, excels at stopping running plays, made 15 combined tackles against the Browns last week. Oluokun has made double-digit tackles in two straight games and eight times in total this season. He has also made more impact plays than he has in the past, as he has tied his career high in fumble recoveries and is close to setting a new career high in sacks. Oluokun is an every-week IDP starter, and this week, he could have a stellar performance.
Foyesade Oluokun Scores First Career Touchdown In TNF Win
Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun had a dominant performance in the Jaguars' 31-24 win over the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football. Oluokun racked up tackles, making nine solos and five assists, and an interception he returned for a touchdown. In the third quarter, with the Jaguars up 17-9 and the Saints deep in their own territory, Oluokun caught a batted ball and took it back, diving at the pylon, to put Jacksonville up by two touchdowns. The touchdown, the first of his career, would end up being decisive. Oluokun, who has led the league in tackles for two straight seasons, was third in tackles going into this week and around fifth in IDP scoring.
The Jacksonville Jaguars agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with standout linebacker Foye Oluokun on Monday, according to a source. The former sixth-round pick can earn as much as $46.5 million and will receive $28 million fully guaranteed at signing. Oluokun has developed into an every-down, off-the-ball linebacker and is now the fourth highest-paid at his position at $15 million per year. The 26-year-old wasn't all that great in run defense and pass coverage for the Atlanta Falcons last year, but he was very much in play in IDP fantasy leagues with a league-high 192 tackles (102 solo), four tackles for loss, seven QB hits, three interceptions, six passes defensed, one forced fumble and two sacks in 17 games.
Atlanta Falcons linebacker Foye Oluokun could see time this season as the goal-line fullback. Oluokun last played fullback in high school, but the Falcons were working their rookie linebacker out in the fullback position on Monday. Oluokun is unlikely to see time there immediately as the Falcons still want to see what they have in Ricky Ortiz. However, the Falcons have history of using defensive players as a fullback. In the short-term there is no fantasy value boost for Oluokun but we have seen fullbacks have fantasy relevant games. The scenario where that may happen for Oluokun is most likely in best ball leagues and it may take a little while before we are even close to that territory.
