Tyler Shough Could Disappoint in Week 13

Across three games since taking over as his team's starter in Week 9, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has completed 68.1% of his pass attempts for 701 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. On paper, Shough has a favorable matchup in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins. Through 12 weeks, Miami ranks 27th in the NFL in yards per pass attempt allowed (7.6). However, Miami has been better in recent weeks, allowing just 173 passing yards to the Buffalo Bills and 142 passing yards to the Washington Commanders in their last two games played. Additionally, the Saints will be without top running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) and could be without top wide receiver Chris Olave (back), who is questionable to play with a back injury. The potential lack of reliable pass-catchers could be a major issue for Shough. Even in two-quarterback formats, Shough could be a player for fantasy managers to avoid in Week 13.

Tyler Shough Looking to Build Momentum Coming Out of Bye Week

Four games and two starts into his rookie season, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has completed 61.4% of his pass attempts for 586 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. Shough had his best performance by far in his final outing before the Saints' Week 11 bye, throwing for 282 yards and two scores in a win over the Carolina Panthers. Coming out of the bye, Shough and the Saints will face an Atlanta Falcons defense that just allowed 448 passing yards and 30 points to the Carolina Panthers. Shough has limited talent around him in New Orleans, but he could still be in a position to take advantage of Atlanta in Week 12. Fantasy managers in two-quarterback formats should consider Shough a low-end QB2 heading into a favorable matchup against the Falcons.

Can Tyler Shough Turn His Breakout Performance into Reliable Production?

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough had a breakout performance in his first career win, completing 19 of 27 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in the 17-7 victory over the Panthers. Shough played with confidence throughout, connecting with Chris Olave on a 62-yard score in the second quarter to give the Saints the lead, and they never looked back. He later found Juwan Johnson for a 30-yard touchdown to seal the win. Shough had four completions over 25 yards, something the Saints had only achieved six times through Weeks 1-8 under Spencer Rattler. His deep-ball upside makes him a matchup-dependent streaming option, with Week 12 against the Falcons his next opportunity.

Tyler Shough Aims to Bounce Back After Tough First Start

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough went 15-for-24 for 176 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in his first career start against the Rams. He led the Saints on a 71-yard touchdown drive to close out the first half but otherwise struggled to sustain offense, with New Orleans holding the ball for just 16:07 compared to Los Angeles' 43:53. The Saints also traded receiver Rashid Shaheed, Shough's most targeted player in the loss, to Seattle at the deadline. On the positive side, Shough wasn't afraid to air it out, connecting with both Shaheed and Chris Olave on completions of over 25 yards. He'll look to rebound against the division-rival Carolina Panthers, who are allowing 205.8 passing yards per game, 15th in the league. Shough remains off fantasy radars for now.

Can Tyler Shough Spark the Saints' Offense in Carolina?

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough went 15-of-24 for 176 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Week 9 loss to the Rams. In his first career start, the rookie showed poise by leading a 71-yard touchdown drive to close out the first half. However, New Orleans struggled to sustain offense throughout the game, finishing with just 16:07 in time of possession compared to Los Angeles' 43:53. Shough appeared to build chemistry with receiver Rashid Shaheed, targeting him nine times, though the speedy wideout was traded to the Seattle Seahawks on trade deadline day. With Shaheed gone, Chris Olave should see an even larger target share moving forward. Next up for Shough and the Saints is a road matchup with a Panthers defense allowing 205.8 passing yards per game, ranking 15th in the league. Shough remains off the fantasy radar for now.

Chris Olave Aims to Form Chemistry With Tyler Shough

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 63 yards against the Buccaneers in Week 8, marking his sixth game with 10 or more targets. He is second in the league in targets with 83 and has built great chemistry with quarterback Spencer Rattler. Olave is possibly the most questionable outlook with Tyler Shough now under center, though his 52-503-3 line through eight weeks easily makes him the most reliable option in the passing game for the rookie. Even with the change at quarterback, Olave profiles as a WR2 against a tough Rams defense allowing 208.3 passing yards per game.

Tyler Shough Era Begins in New Orleans

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough took over for Spencer Rattler in the third quarter of the blowout loss to the Buccaneers, and head coach Kellen Moore will roll with the rookie for the rest of the season. In limited action thus far, Shough has completed 17 of 32 passes for 128 yards and an interception. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 219 pounds, he offers plenty of arm strength and averaged 9.7 yards per attempt last season at Louisville, highlighting his ability to attack downfield. While he offers little rushing upside, Moore said the team is "not looking back," so expect Shough to let it rip. He's a back-end QB2 or Superflex option against a tough Rams defense.

Tyler Shough to Start at QB the Rest of the Season

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore announced on Wednesday that rookie quarterback Tyler Shough will start for the team for the rest of the season. Moore said that he feels Shough is ready and that he is "really excited for him." The Saints benched Spencer Rattler in last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Shough went 17-for-30 passing for 128 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception in relief in just his second NFL appearance. The second-rounder out of Louisville will now lead the Saints offense for the rest of the year, and he'll get a tough matchup on the road against the Los Angeles Rams this weekend in his first career start. Shough has a strong arm and good size at 6-foot-5, 219 pounds, but he won't give fantasy managers any additional upside with his legs in what has been a very inconsistent Saints offense. Expect plenty of growing pains. Shough should remain on the waiver wire in single-QB, 12-team redraft leagues.

Tyler Shough Heads into Difficult Matchup in First Career Start

The New Orleans Saints announced on Tuesday that rookie Tyler Shough will start at quarterback in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Rams. Spencer Rattler was benched during last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Shough went 17-for-30 for 128 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception in the 23-3 loss. The 26-year-old former second-rounder out of Louisville is on the rise in fantasy football in deeper two-QB leagues now that he has been named the starter moving forward, but he'll have a difficult first test as a starter in Week 9 against a potent Rams defense that is fresh while coming off their bye week. The Rams' defense has allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to the QB position so far through eight weeks. Shough could remain the Saints' starting QB for the rest of the year, but we certainly wouldn't recommend him as a streamer at the position this week in his first NFL start.

Can Tyler Shough Ignite the Saints' Passing Attack?

New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough replaced Spencer Rattler in the third quarter of the team's loss to the Buccaneers, completing 17-of-30 passes for 128 yards and one interception. Head coach Kellen Moore has since named Shough the starter heading into the Week 9 matchup against the Rams. The rookie has the arm strength and confidence to open up New Orleans' stagnant passing attack, which currently ranks 28th in the league at 6.2 yards per attempt. While he remains outside the QB2 range for now, Shough could be a sneaky Superflex play with four teams on bye in Week 9.
